There are 4 types of frames:
Control Frame (CF) always present, named CF-00
Extension Frame (EF) optional, up to 5 (fromEF-00 to EF-04)
Miscellaneous Frame (MF)
General Purpose Frame (GPF)
CF & EF may contain up to 3 shelves

5
Control Frame (CF-00):
1st shelf is always equipped: it is the Control Shelf (CS)
2nd and 3rd shelves are optional as Extension Shelves (ES)
Extension Frames (EF-00 to EF-04):
They contain Extension Shelves (ES), up to 3

Shelf/card numbering:
they are always composed by 4 chars:
1st number is frame (1=CF-00, 2=EF-00, 3=EF-01...)
2nd number is shelf (1=top, 2=middle, 3=bottom)
3rd/4th numbers are shelf or card (00=shelf, 01=1st card fromleft,
02=2nd card fromleft, etc. - Up to 18 cards)
E.g.: 1203 = CF-00, middle shelf, 3rd board (fromleft)
Boards xx09 and xx10 are smaller and lay in the same slot, xx09 on
top of xx10

Cards can exist in 3 different
formats:
Double Slot cards must
always be configured in ODD
locations
E.g.: 1103 card fits into
1103 and 1104 locations, it
cannot be configured onto
location 1104
Double Slot (they fit in 2
consecutive slot locations)
Single Slot (they fit in a single
slot location)
IMT BUS cards (2 cards fit in
1 single slot location)

It contains the Maintenance & Administration Subsystem(MAS)
modules, in fixed slots.
MAS is composed by two MAS Processors (MASP A & B), and one
Maintenance Disk & AlarmCard (MDAL).
Each MASP is composed by:
General Purpose Service Module (GPSM-II) card in slot 1113 (for
MASP A) and 1115 (for MASP B)
Terminal Disk Module (TDM) in slot 1114 (for MASP A) and 1116
(for MASP BB)
MDAL is a double slot card located in slots 1117 & 1118. It is a
single card, not duplicated.
Other slots (except 1109 and 1110) are for application cards

The E5-SM4G is a Database Service Module (DSM) designed to operate
at high capacity. The E5-SM4G is a double-slot EAGLE card that
provides 3.1 GB of application processor memory.
The E5-SM4G provides the following for the EAGLE system:
Support for the VSCCP features
Can interoperate with DSMs at an
operating capacity of 1700 transactions
per second (TPS).
Support for the 150K TPS GTT and 75K TPS G-Port features
Can replace a DSM in the control or extension

A route is the definition of how to reach a point code via a linkset,
with an associated cost
It is possible to configure max. 5000 routes (*)
Max number of routes towards a destination is 6 (*)
It is possible to associate a cost to each route: if the cost is the
same for each route, theres load sharing, otherwise there are
preferential routes. In this case, other routes are involved only if
theres congestion on preferential routes
