ACCREDITATION STATEMENT Baldwin Wallace University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The address, telephone number and website for this accrediting body is 230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, Illinois 60604; 1-800-621-7440; www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org.
In addition, the University is on the approved lists of the American Chemical Society, University Senate of the United Methodist Church, Ohio College Association and the American Association of University Women. It was approved by the Association of American Universities in 1931, and its credits are accepted wherever American college work is recognized. Baldwin Wallace is a member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the American Council on Education, the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business, and the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.
The teacher preparation programs at Baldwin Wallace University are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This accreditation includes both undergraduate and graduate programs leading to initial or advanced teacher licensure or endorsement in the state of Ohio. The accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, re-licensure, or other purposes. The University is approved for teacher education in the following areas: Early Childhood Education (pre-kindergarten-grade 3); Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-9); Adolescent Young Adult (grades 7-12) in Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Mathematics, Integrated Science, Integrated Social Studies, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences; Multi-Age Education (prekindergarten-grade 12) in Foreign Languages (French, German, or Spanish), Music, Health & Physical Education, or Visual Arts, Intervention Specialist; Mild/Moderate Educational Needs (kindergarten-grade 12); and endorsements in Reading and Computer Technology. Because of the fluctuating requirements for licensure to teach in the various states, it is recommended that candidates for licensure check with departments of education in the states in which they intend to teach. This will give them the opportunity to schedule required courses wherever possible.
The Athletic Training Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and the undergraduate programs in music are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
