What is the difference between a CNC
mill and a CNC lathe?
Im new to CNC mi l l and l athe and woul d l i ke to know:

A l athe usual l y onl y has 2 axi s control , l athes are normal l y used to
machi ne cyl i ndri cal parts, the workpi ece i s hel d i n a chuck whi ch i s
rotati ng, the tool i s moved l eft/ri ght (Y Axi s) and towards/away from
the workpi ece (X Axi s) , some l athes al so have a revol ver head wi th
mul ti pl e tool s.
A mi l l has 3 axi s someti mes 4 or 5 axi s control s, i n a mi l l the tool i s
rotati ng whi l e the workpi ecev i s cl amped on a tabl e, the tabl e can
be moved l eft/ri ght (Y) forward/reverse (X) and usual l y up/down (Z)
a rotati ng or i ndex tabl e usual l y can be used as a 4th axi s, mi l l s al so
someti mes have Automati c tool changers !
The pri ce di fference between the two:
CNC mi l l s are more expensi ve because they requi re more motors to
control the axi s and motors al ong wi th the dri ver el ectroni cs are not
cheap , al so mi l l i ng software i s usual l y more compl ex
