ATM/Ethernet 13 Platform MSS 9400 Platform (CD6394) This feature introduces an evolution to the successful Multiservice Switch 7400 platform. Based on the Multiservice Switch 7480, it provides a system with 14 FP slots and 2 CP/Fabric (CPF) slots. It also introduces a new CP/Fabric card based on new processor daughter cards. The CPF Fabric terminates and switches 800 Mbps of traffic from each slot. The new architecture will allow the direct re-use of most existing Multiservice Switch 7400 FPs, features and services. Please reference the Multiservice Switch 7400 and 9400 NTPs for specific information about which FPs are supported. This new platform is fully supported by the standard PCR software stream and is fully integrated in MDM. 2pGE for MSS 7400 and 9400 (CD7074) This feature introduces a new 2-port Gigabit Ethernet (GE) (NTNS70AG) with optical interface on Multiservice Switch 7400 and 9400 platforms. In general, the FP supports the same services as the 4pGE on the Multiservice Switch 15000. The following are key capabilities: 2 full-duplex ports Small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optics [SX, LX, and ZX] IEEE 802.3 compliant IEEE VLAN support (802.1Q) LAG (802.3ad) Port and VLAN statistic monitoring ATM Pseudowire capabilities ATM/Ethernet Egress p-bit IP Marking (CD6014) The Ethernet p-bits egress marking feature builds on and enhances the traffic management capability of the Ethernet RFC2547 and VIPR networking solutions. The use of the p-bits will enable the support of multiple service classes into a single MSS Ethernet link. The Ethernet User Priority bits field (commonly referred to as p-bits) in the header of IEEE 802.1Q tagged frames may be marked by the MSS network based on layer 3 QoS indicators (packets IP DiffServ value or MPLS EXP bits value) to communicate the frame class of service and/or drop precedence to the optical Ethernet network. This feature is available on both the MSS 7400 4pEth100BaseT and 8pEth100BaseT FPs, on the MSS 9400 2pGe FP, and on the MSS 15000 and 20000 4pGe FP Nortel Multiservice Switch 7400/9400/15000/20000 New in this Release NN10600-000 03.02 Standard 7 November 2008 Copyright 2008 Nortel Networks . 14 New features and enhancements Ethernet SNMP MIB Support (CD6994) This feature introduces Enterprise MIB support for the following MIBs and component classes. Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-LanDrivers MIB LanApplication LanApplication Framer Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-LanDrivers-LanBase MIB LanApplication EthernetStatistics LanApplication Vlan LanApplication Vlan EthernetStatistics LanApplication EthernetPolicy LanApplication EthernetUserPriorityMarking1 Wireless Backhaul Clock Synch (CD7034) This feature provides a timing service for Multiservice Switch wireless backhaul synchronization. The feature enhances the ATM and/or TDM Pseudowire (PW) solutions by distributing the clocking information from the RNC-site Multiservice Switch Gateway to the remote cell-site devices over the IP/Ethernet access network. The Multiservice Switch Core Pseudowire node obtains its Master clock from the Network Clock Synchronization (NCS) system. This clock is then distributed to the remote cell-site gateways using a special Timing Pseudowire over the IP/Ethernet network. The cell-site gateways recovers the master clock and uses it as the Transmit clock on the outgoing E1/T1 interfaces to the 2G and 3G wireless stations. This feature requires hardware capabilities introduced on the 4pGE FP version NTPN49AG. MaxVCC Increase for MS3 1pOC48 FP (CD7156) This feature increases the maximum supported connection number from 16000 to 45000 in the 1-port OC-48/STM-16 mode of the NTHW46 FP. ATM Call Redirection for EVLS (CD7157) This feature addresses the issue of resiliency of the destination CPE devices by provisioning two destination addresses for an EVC SPVC: a primary address and a secondary (backup) address, for connections originating as part of the EVLS application. The connection is first routed to the destination using the primary destination address, and if it is unsuccessful, the secondary address is used. Nortel Multiservice Switch 7400/9400/15000/20000 New in this Release NN10600-000 03.02 Standard 7 November 2008 Copyright 2008 Nortel Networks . IP 15 This feature is supported for SPVCs under a LAN/VLAN EVC and ETS EAtmTrsp generated SPVCs. CES DS0 Channelization on 4pOC3/STM-1ch CES FP (CD7754) This feature introduces basic structured CES services to the 4 port OC- 3 Channelized CES/ATM/IMA FP (NTPN27). DS0 Channelization on 2pSTM-1 (CD7755) This feature introduces basic structured CES services to the 2 port STM-1 Optical Channelized CES/ATM/IMA FP (NTNQ96). IP IP Multicast Support on 4p/8pEth100BaseT (CD4034) This feature enables the existing VIPR IP Multicast solution on the Multiservice Switch 7400 and the Multiservice Switch 9400 4pEth100BaseT (NTNQ95xx) and 8pEth100BaseT (NTNQ92xx) Ethernet FPs. This matches the capability already provided by other FPs. IP Multicast support for 4p/8pEth100BaseT FPs is only implemented at port level LAN mode. No VLAN support is provided. As well, this feature also provides IP Multicast on VpnXc card for Multiservice Switch 15000 and Multiservice Switch 20000. IP Flow Classication for PQC (CD4134) This feature enables Service Providers to classify IP traffic arriving on supported VIPR VR, RFC 2547 VRF, or RFC 2764 CVR PQC FP IP interfaces using multi-field classification. User-configured rules can be defined to mark the incoming packets DSCP based on a combination of Layer 3 and 4 protocol header fields, such as TCP and UDP port numbers. The action resulting from classification is the possible modification of the packets PHB and DSCP. VIPR XC SNMP MIB Support (CD5634) This feature enables VIPR specific standard MIBs access when VIPR solution is residing on XC. The set of standard MIBs supported is equivalent to those supported for the customer VRs in the VR component data model. IP Flow Filtering for PQC (CD6354) The IP Flow Filtering feature enables the Service Provider to restrict admission of IP packets arriving on VIPR, RFC2547, and RFC2764 solutions on PQC2 and PQC12 FPs on the Multiservice Switch 7400, 9400, 15000, and 20000 platforms. Nortel Multiservice Switch 7400/9400/15000/20000 New in this Release NN10600-000 03.02 Standard 7 November 2008 Copyright 2008 Nortel Networks . 16 New features and enhancements Filter profiles are used to define a collection of user configurable rules that specify match criteria on combinations of the following fields: DSCP, IP protocol (e.g. TCP, ICMP), IP source and destination, and TCP/UDP port source and destination. Wildcarding and ranges are supported for Layer 3 and 4 packet fields. Each rule has a permit or deny action, and a user-configurable priority number. Any number of interfaces can share one filter profile configured on the same VR or VRF. RFC 2547/MPLS RFC2547 Route Reector (CD6454) This feature introduces Route Reflectors in a BGP/MPLS VPN network (RFS 2547 IP VPN solution) eliminating the need for the Service Provider to maintain a fully meshed network, hence improving the scalability of the network. MPLS VPN route reflector deployments can be done in one of two ways. In both cases an eXtender Card (XC) is required. Dedicated Multiservice 7400/9400: In this deployment, the 7400/9400 is running the MPLS VPN route reflector functions exclusively. Networking interfaces can be FE or supported ATM MPLS PQC FPs. Multiservice Switch 15000, or 20000, P node with MPLS VPN route reflector: In this deployment, a Multiservice Switch 15000, or 20000 P node can run the MPLS VPN route reflector functionally. PE node functionality is not supported with MPLS VPN route reflector functionality. ATM Pseudowire with Cell Concatenation on GE (CD7075) This feature delivers the cell concatenation functionality as an enhancement to the ATM Pseudowire solution delivered in PCR 8.2 (CD6814). Cell concatenation allows for multiple ATM cells to be placed inside one pseudowire packet leading to increased Ethernet link efficiency. TDM Pseudowire over IP Tunnel on GE (CD7077) This feature enables the wireless network operators to replace existing expensive TDM facilities with less costly IP/Ethernet transport. This feature builds on the Multiservice Switch Circuit Emulation Service (CES) over ATM and ATM Pseudowire over IP Tunnel on 2pGE and 4pGE features enabling the consolidation of 2G and 3G traffic over the same packet network infrastructure. Nortel Multiservice Switch 7400/9400/15000/20000 New in this Release NN10600-000 03.02 Standard 7 November 2008 Copyright 2008 Nortel Networks . System 17 The feature supports transport of ingress TDM bits (including framing bits if any) from each T1/E1 over a single PW connection. It also supports transport of bits from N of DS0 timeslots in a T1/E1 frame over a single PW connection. ATM Pseudowire over IP Tunnel Enhancements (CD7535) This phase of the solution implements a number of significant enhancements to the ATM Pseudowire solution delivered in PCR 8.2. (CD6814) The enhancements increase network efficiency, solution reliability, and network scalability. The major enhancements are: Carrier Grade (hot CP switchover) QoS (user-configurable DSCP marking) Networking Enhancements (dynamic IP Routing, multiple RTRs) Platform (XC) support Scalability OAM Enhancements (FP fault propagation & BFD enhancements) Statistics enhancements Sequence number optionality Dynamic CAS lspDB Display (CD7814) This feature enables the Multiservice Switch network operators to display, monitor, and examine MPLS Transport LSPs within MPLS network and/or RFC2547 network. It meets the increasing demands of needing to know real time dynamic MPLS and/or RFC2547 network transportation information for network operations and maintenance, network troubleshooting, network performance assessments and evaluations. System MSS File Checksum (CD2867) This feature implements a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) mechanism to detect corrupted files that were transferred to the Multiservice Switch. The feature applies to: Application files transferred to the Multiservice Switch using the CAS interface. Provisioning files which were backed up off-switch and then transferred back to the Multiservice Switch via FTP. Nortel Multiservice Switch 7400/9400/15000/20000 New in this Release NN10600-000 03.02 Standard 7 November 2008 Copyright 2008 Nortel Networks . 18 New features and enhancements Provisioning File Protection (CD7158) This feature expands the MSS File Checksum feature (CD2867) to cover provisioning files of type asciiFlat. This feature also introduces an admin level provisionable attribute under the prov component which, when set, only allows provisioning view operations to proceed when the associated provisioning files have been saved with a checksum. Standby CP PLL Integrity (CD7494) The Standby CP PLL Integrity feature enhances the visibility of the standby CPs clock integrity. With this feature, if there is no proper clock source on the standby CP, the active CP cannot perform a CP switchover. As well, the feature introduces an automatic mechanism to switchover to the standby CP if the network clock sync is lost on the active CP.
