1. It is the responsibiIity of the owner to ensure
that aII users of this treadmiII are adequateIy
informed of aII warnings and precautions.
2. Before beginning any exercise program,
consuIt your physician. This is especiaIIy
important for persons over age 35 or persons
with pre-existing heaIth probIems.
3. Use the treadmiII onIy as described in this
manuaI.
4. The treadmiII is intended for home use onIy.
Do not use the treadmiII in any commerciaI,
rentaI, or institutionaI setting.
5. Keep the treadmiII indoors, away from mois-
ture and dust. Do not put the treadmiII in a
garage or covered patio, or near water.
6. PIace the treadmiII on a IeveI surface, with
at Ieast 8 ft. (2.4 m) of cIearance behind it
and 2 ft. (0.6 m) on each side. Do not pIace
the treadmiII on any surface that bIocks air
openings. To protect the fIoor or carpet from
damage, pIace a mat under the treadmiII.
7. Do not operate the treadmiII where aerosoI
products are used or where oxygen is being
administered.
8. Keep chiIdren under age 12 and pets away
from the treadmiII at aII times.
9. The treadmiII shouId be used onIy by per-
sons weighing 400 Ibs. (181 kg) or Iess.
10. Never aIIow more than one person on the
treadmiII at a time.
11. Wear appropriate exercise cIothes whiIe
using the treadmiII. Do not wear Ioose
cIothes that couId become caught in the
treadmiII. AthIetic support cIothes are recom-
mended for both men and women. Always
wear athletic shoes. Never use the treadmill
with bare feet, wearing only stockings, or in
sandals.
12. PIug the power cord into a surge suppressor
(not incIuded), and pIug the surge suppres-
sor into an appropriate outIet (see page 15).
To avoid overIoading the circuit, do not pIug
other eIectricaI devices, except for Iow-power
devices such as ceII phone chargers, into
the surge suppressor or into an outIet on the
same circuit.
13. Use onIy a surge suppressor that meets aII of
the specifications described on page 15. To
purchase a surge suppressor, see your IocaI
NORDICTRACK deaIer, caII the teIephone
number on the front cover of this manuaI, or
see your IocaI eIectronics store.
14. FaiIure to use a properIy functioning surge
suppressor couId resuIt in damage to the
controI system of the treadmiII. If the controI
system is damaged, the waIking beIt may
sIow, acceIerate, or stop unexpectedIy, which
may resuIt in a faII and serious injury.
15. Keep the power cord and the surge suppres-
sor away from heated surfaces.
16. Never move the waIking beIt whiIe the power
is turned off. Do not operate the treadmiII
if the power cord or pIug is damaged, or if
the treadmiII is not working properIy. (See
TROUBLESHOOTING on page 29 if the tread-
miII is not working properIy.)
17. Read, understand, and test the emergency
stop procedure before using the treadmiII
(see HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on
page 17).
18. Never start the treadmiII whiIe you are stand-
ing on the waIking beIt. AIways hoId the
handraiIs whiIe using the treadmiII.
19. The treadmiII is capabIe of high speeds.
Adjust the speed in smaII increments to
avoid sudden jumps in speed.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS

20. The heart rate monitor is not a medicaI
device. Various factors, incIuding the user's
movement, may affect the accuracy of heart
rate readings. The heart rate monitor is
intended onIy as an exercise aid in determin-
ing heart rate trends in generaI.
21. Never Ieave the treadmiII unattended whiIe
it is running. AIways remove the key, press
the power switch into the off position (see
the drawing on page 7 for the Iocation of the
power switch), and unpIug the power cord
when the treadmiII is not in use.
22. Do not attempt to move the treadmiII untiI
it is properIy assembIed. (See ASSEMBLY
on page 9 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE
THE TREADMILL on page 28.) You must be
abIe to safeIy Iift 45 Ibs. (20 kg) to move the
treadmiII.
23. When foIding or moving the treadmiII, make
sure that the storage Iatch is hoIding the
frame secureIy in the storage position.
24. Do not change the incIine of the treadmiII by
pIacing objects under the treadmiII.
25. Never insert any object into any opening on
the treadmiII.
26. Inspect and properIy tighten aII parts of the
treadmiII reguIarIy.
27. DANGER: AIways unpIug the power
cord immediateIy after use, before cIean-
ing the treadmiII, and before performing the
maintenance and adjustment procedures
described in this manuaI. Never remove the
motor hood unIess instructed to do so by an
authorized service representative. Servicing
other than the procedures in this manuaI
shouId be performed by an authorized ser-
vice representative onIy.
28. Over exercising may resuIt in serious injury
or death. If you feeI faint or if you experience
pain whiIe exercising, stop immediateIy and
cooI down.
