La Encuesta sobre Poblacin Trans surgi a raz de la necesidad de contar con
informacin sociodemogrfica de una poblacin notablemente vulnerada, tanto desde
el punto de vista social como del ejercicio de los derechos ciudadanos. trav!s de la
firma de un "onvenio entre el #nstituto $acional de Estadstica % "ensos &#$'E"( % el
#nstituto $acional contra la 'iscriminacin, la )enofobia % el *acismo &#$'#( en el
mes de noviembre de +,-- ambos organismos se comprometieron a realizar en forma
conjunta la Primera Encuesta sobre Poblacin Trans.
Los objetivos generales del pro%ecto son. 'escribir las condiciones de vida % las
caractersticas sociodemogrficas del conjunto de personas Trans. #ndagar acerca de
las e/periencias de discriminacin, alfabetizacin jurdica % el acceso a la justicia de la
poblacin Trans.
$o e/isten bases o listados desde donde elaborar una muestra probabilstica, las
personas Trans son reticentes a ser encuestadas, a0n a1uellas vinculadas a las
organizaciones sociales. Por ello, para esta encuesta se utiliza el muestreo de
avalancha o 2bola de nieve3, 1ue consiste en pedir a los informantes &personas Trans,
organizaciones sociales % organismos estatales( 1ue recomienden o permitan el
vnculo con posibles participantes.
El desarrollo del pro%ecto presenta una planificacin basada en tres instancias. 4na
primera etapa de elaboracin % evaluacin de un cuestionario 1ue se realiz los das
-5 % -6 de diciembre +,--, donde la convocatoria de encuestadas fue realizada por
las 7rganizaciones de personas Trans de La 8atanza. 4na segunda etapa fue la
Prueba Piloto, se llev a cabo en el partido de La 8atanza, del -9 al +: de junio de
+,-+. Tuvo como metas principales ajustar el cuestionario, ajustar las estrategias
comunicacionales % evaluar la forma de convocatoria voluntaria de las personas a
encuestar. 4na tercera instancia de alcance territorial ms amplio %, por ende, de
ma%or complejidad, configurar la distribucin de estrategias % recursos a utilizar a
partir de los resultados obtenidos % evaluados en la etapa de la Prueba Piloto.

agreed to carr% out the ?irst ;urve% on the Transgender Population.
The general objectives of this surve% are. To describe the living conditions and socio
demographic characteristics of the transgender group. To in1uire about the
e/periences about discrimination, legal literac% and access to the legal s%stem for the
transgender population.
'ue to the fact that there are no data bases or listings from <here to develop a
probabilistic sample. Trans people are reluctant to be intervie<ed even though those
people <ho belong to the same trans organizations. ?or this reason the surve% uses
the 2sno< sampling3 method <hich consists of as=ing the informants &this being Trans
and ;ocial organizations and ;tate @odies( that recommend or allo< the lin= <ith
prospective participants.
The development of the surve% presents a planning that is in accordance <ith the
planned objectives. These objectives are implemented in three stages. The first stage
consists of the elaboration and assessment of the surve% 1uestionnaire <hich <as
