Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Its one year and eight months since the Rev Sandra left to take up her new role as Dean of Limerick. The Archbishop is still considering possibilities for a rector. In the meantime, congregations are remaining steady and voluntary jobs continue to be done. All members of our parishes are very grateful to those who look after our churches week by week. At the Easter General Vestries, all the wardens agreed to remain in their posts so that the new rector will have an experienced team when he/she begins ministry in this area. Bookings of the Wellington Hall continue to increase, thanks to the efforts of Cheryl, Eileen and Colin. I am very happy to see that the Sunday School, an important part of our church life, is functioning successfully. Thank you, on behalf of parishioners and parents, to all the teachers. In teaching, you touch the future. The Maximum Attendance Sundays were well-attended, and thank you to all who made a special effort to be present, especially to the Bush parishioners, who turned out in force! Congratulations to the Grammar School on achieving its 275th anniversary. The year has been, and will continue to be, marked by special occasions. A ceremony of building dedication was held on Thursday 15th May and, on the 16th May, a service of thanksgiving was held in the Finnamore Hall, at which the Archbishop was the special preacher. Congratulations to Trevor Patterson, on the publication of his edition of the history of Dundalk Grammar School: The First 275 Years. This book, with a wealth of interesting information, complements the history written by Mr T McCrea: The First 250 Years. A large number of children and their parents attended the Easter Saturday Service and Easter Egg Hunt, held in Ballymascanlan Church and grounds. Our guest leader, Ian, was a great success. Thank you to those who donated the eggs, to Laurence, who organised the Paschal fire, to Anna, Alicia and Lyndis and others who helped them. We are tentatively planning a barbecue, for the whole union, to take place in the Wellington Hall, with a provisional date 19th J uly. Finally, thank you Brigitte for putting this Newsletter together. Every blessing to you all, Richard
