What are some of the changes that constantly occur in family life?
Three of the major changes that constantly occur in family life are divorce, single parenting and domestic
violence.

There are a lot of reasons #hy people get divorced. $o#adays, divorce is increasing year after year.
Some of the main reasons for divorce are infidelity, different life o%jectives, conflicting differences and
financial pro%lems just to name a fe#. The emotional turbulence of divorce likely leads to feelings
of loss, rage and mourning for all. It also brings about no father or mother figure which leaves
the offspring without a role model. In some cases the absent of one parent results in the other
parent having to work overtime in order to support his/her children. This takes away some of the
quality time they once shared and consequently the children turn to other means to get
attention. . !urkheim said the family is one of the most important of social institutions.
!ivorce and single parenting results in one of the most important social institutions being at a
disadvantage. This negatively impacts on the children"s behavior and moreover society.
In response to divorce, the family is broken and no mother or father head could make way for
dysfunctional family which is negatively impacted on an individual as the family is one of the
most important social institutions. This unstable environment ### $ne of the responses to
frustration could result in the individual growing up and being violent since this is what he was
e%posed to from small. To him, this is what he believed was normal behavior and
consequently practice this behavior.
&ingle parenting whether caused by divorce or
Infidelity ' This is when one of the partners goes off track and start having an e%tra ( marital
affair, it can be quite hard for the other spouse to forgive and forget. There may be no trust
whatsoever between them, which can lead to collapse of the marriage.
!ifferent life ob)ectives ( This is when each partner has a set of ob)ectives which are totally
different from that of the other partner. $ne spouse wants children at a particular time in life,
while the other one may want to delay having children in order to reali*e their career aspirations.
Irreconcilable differences ( +hat this means is that the couple has reached a point in their
marriage when they don,t seem to agree to anything at all. $r they agree only to disagree. They
also don,t really seem to put in any effort to try and mend the differences. -t this stage, nothing
can be done.
.inancial /roblems ( This can be touted as another cause as couples feel the dent in their
purses. -rguments over how money should be handled or arguing with each other because
there isn,t a lot of money available can take marriages to the courts for settlement.
