A Christmas Miracle

Scene 1
A child sits in his room, listening to music and smoking. The room is
very dirty. His mother comes with a trey full of food.
Mother: Please Christi stop smoking, you know what harm it can do to
you.
Christi: Leave me alone mom Ill do what I want.
Mother: Come Ive brought you dinner, please eat. Stop listening to
that music.
Christi: youre terrible; you never let me do anything (throwing around
with things)
(Father comes in quickly)
Father: Stop behaving like a brat son. Respect your mother.
Christi: I hate you both!
Father: youre grounded .Youll spend Christmas in your room alone.
(the parents leave)

Scene 2

(A few hours later some bells are heard ringing. Santa comes with his
sack full of presents. He comes to Christian. Christian who had fallen
asleep wakes up and sees Santa. The room is barely lit, just a few
candles. Its like a dream)
Santa: Tonight is Christmas Eve and Ive brought presents for many
children but youre not one of them. You behaved very badly, you have
no respect for people and you dont know how lucky you are. Instead of
presents youll receive a punishment. Youll have to take my place
tonight and deliver presents to children.

(Christi rises as in a dream. He takes Santas coat and sack and sets
off)

Scene 3

(Christi arrives at a house. There are 2 children and the parents inside
reading Christmas stories. Its an idyllic atmosphere. Christy watches
the harmonic atmosphere between the family members and is disgusted
by it)
Child1: Daddy what does Christmas mean?
Dad: It means love and understanding.
Child2: Mom will Santa bring us presents tonight?
Mom: Of course dear, Santa brings presents to all the good children.
(The family embrace, and Christi looks at them disgusted and throws
them the presents)

Scene 4

(Christi continues his journey. He walks on the street when he hears a
child coughing. He goes to a window. He sees a little girl who looks very
sick, talking to her mother)
Girl: Mom, why cant I go out and play with the other kids?
Mother: Because youre sick dear, youll go out when youll feel better.
Girl: Then may I go into the living room and sing carols with you?
Mother: Well see how you feel later.
Girl: Ok mommy
(Christi feels sad at seeing this sick girl who cant enjoy life. He leaves
a present at the door. The girl sees at. She is so happy that she gets
out of bed and runs to take the present. She starts yelling and
jumping:Mommy Santa came, he brought me a gift)

Scene 5

(Christi continues to go and he sees 2 kids seated near a wall. They are
cold and wet and hungry)
Jamey: Tom Im cold and hungry
Tom: I know little sister. Come closer to me. Here is a bit of bread but
its the last one so dont eat it too fast.
Jamey: Ok. Tom, do you think we will ever have a home and clothes and
food like other kids?
Tom: I dont know Jamey, but I will always be here with you no matter
what.
Jamey: Ok Tom.
(Christi is heart broken. He leaves them a present and the kids rush
toward it happily)

Scene 6

(While going on the road he hears loud music. He gets near a window
where an adolescent plays on the computer. It a kid just like Christi.
Christi who has now understood the message of Christmas wants to
share it. He goes to talk to the kid.)
Christi: Michael tonight is Christmas Eve, stop playing on the computer
and celebrate Jesus Birth.
Michael: what? (Michael moves toward him) Are you simple?
Or just a weirdo? Christmas means nothing is just an occasion for
sissies to sing and dress funny.
Christi: Christmas is a time for joy and for helping others who are not
as lucky as you and me.
Michael: I have never heard so many stupid things in my life, go away
from here and take your stupid gift with you.( Michael gives the
present back to Christi who goes away very sad)

Scene 7

(Christi realizes that he used to behave in the same way just a few
hours ago. But now he realized how precious life and people are. He
kneels and cries.)
Christi: God Im sorry Ive been such a bad boy. I had no idea how lucky
I was. Please dont let the children be sick or cold or alone or hungry
anymore. Save them Jesus and forgive those who just like me, dont
understand the message of Christmas.

Scene 8

(Christi goes home. He sees his parents)
Christi: Mom, dad, Im sorry Ive upset you so often. Ive been very
bad but I promise Ill change.
Mother: Oh Christian you are our beloved boy.
Father: We love you son.
(They all sing carols near the Christmas tree)
