The market of ceramic tile retains its positive dynamics in 2011. Import volume almost doubled while
export volume increased even more and reached nearly 70% compared to 2010. Growth of production in
2011 was not as rapid as export- and import increase still there was no decline in production volume.
In 2011 indicators of tile export and production exceeded volumes of successful 2008 year and only
import has not fully recovered after the crisis. In general, growth of ceramic tile import and export in
Ukraine was higher than growth recorded for the foreign trade overall.
Stone ware ceramic tile considerably enlarged its share in the import structure thus exceeding supply of
clay grazed tile. Analyzing ceramic tile dynamics by countries, the survey finds growth of import volumes
from China.

Sanitary ware segment rose up in all directions: import, export, production. Even despite of slow growth
of sanitary ware market, export was up by 88% that is almost 3 times higher than overall export growth
throughout Ukraine.
The import market sees increase in ceramic sanitary ware supply volumes. China still leads when
studying sanitary ware dynamics by regions. In 2011 year supply fragmentation intensified as quantity of
suppliers to Ukraine grew whereas leaders shares decreased. The research reveals certain concentration
of importers private entrepreneurs moved down from 1

place among recipients in Ukraine.
The share of Cersanit Polish Company, the last years leader, decreased in the export of Ukrainian
sanitary ware products that resulted in drop of the ceramic sanitary ware in overall export structure.

The market of building stone managed slight growth in 2011. Growth of import volumes was higher than
growth of export and production thereby exceeding the level of pre-crisis 2008 year.
The share of leading products marble and granite increased in the import structure therefore
displacing limestone and slate. As for regions, the share of Italy rose allowing the country to win the first
place by supply in money terms.
Export volume in 2011 was up by 19%. This indicator is lower than the overall export growth (35%) still
the volume of exported stone exceeded measures of pre-crisis 2008 year. The share of gabbro and
labradorite in the export structure increased. Speaking about countries, Italy pushed Poland aside by
moving up to the third place.

1. Market of ceramic tile
1.1 Import of ceramic tile
1.1.1 Ceramic tile import dynamics
After crisis fall by 63% in 2009, in 2011 the market of imported ceramic tile shows positive trends. Total
ceramic tile import to Ukraine rose by 21% in 2010 year and by 69% in 2011 year having nearly reached
the level of 2007. This increase seems to be higher than overall growth throughout Ukraine (36%) that
means the market tends to reach the pre-crisis level. Import drop in 2011 was 24% compared to pre-
crisis 2008 year.

1.1.2 Product types
In 2011 for the first time in many years grazed stoneware tile makes up the main share in tile import
with 59% import share (the share of clay grazed tile, last years leader, amounted to 32%).
The share of ungrazed tile of conventional and stoneware ceramic in 2011 remained at the level of
2010 with 2% and 3% respectively

In 2011 year clay tile import produced some slow growth both in the segment of grazed and ungrazed
tiles.
Stoneware ceramic tile import increased more than twice compared to year 2010 and pre-crisis 2008 year
that no other tile type has managed to achieve.

1.1.3 Ceramic tile import structure by regions
Most ceramic tile (more than 90%) is imported to Ukraine from 10 countries. In 2011 last years leaders
Poland, Spain and Russia - yielded to China which share has doubled since 2010 and now amounts to
almost quarter of total tile import volume.
Generally, the market of tile import is characterized by high regional concentration with 4 countries-
leaders importing 76% of tile altogether, while the top ten countries about 97%.

Different countries specialize in import of different types of tile, still stoneware grazed tile makes up the
highest share in total tile supply. Stoneware ceramic tile is imported mainly from China and Spain
whereas clay tile from Poland, Belarus and Italy.
China increased share of Gres grazed tile by 32 p.p., Poland by 12 p.p., Spain by 13 p.p. Poland still
keeps the lead in import of clay ungrazed tile.

Clay ceramic tile
As usually Poland leads in supply of clay ceramic tile with 85% share of ungrazed tile import and 37%
share in grazed tile import volume.
Belarus weakened its positions in import of clay grazed tile cutting import share by 7 p.p. to 12%. The
share of Spain on the contrary increased by 2 p.p.

Stoneware ceramic tile
As for Gres tile, Spain yielded leadership to China by losing 4 p.p. in import share compared to 2010
year. Following Spain, on the third place was Poland with 13% share. Russia moved down from the
second place in 2010 to the fifth place in 2011 as its share fell twice to 9%.

Ungrazed Gres tile is imported mainly from China. Besides, Poland and Italy have significant share in
Gres import. The share of Russia dropped twice here as well as in stoneware ceramic tile import.

1.1.4 Major ceramic tile suppliers abroad
China
Chinese manufacturers are undoubted leaders by quantity of companies importing tile in Ukraine and
their number is increasing year by year. In 2012 a number of importers from China increased more than
twice compared to previous year and amounts to 484 companies.
China market is highly fragmented the top 5 companies cover only 17% of total supply volume.

Poland
Supply from Poland is carried out mainly through 2 companies: Ceramika Paradyz and Opoczno S.A.
Cersanit S.A. dropped down from the third place in 2010 to the seventh place among tile importers in
2011.
The top three leaders cover more than 50% of tile import to Ukraine. In total, 42 Polish companies
supplied tile to Ukraine in 2011.

Spain
In 2011 market of Spanish import tile became more concentrated with two leaders controlling half of
total supply.
The share of CIFRE S.L., last years leader, this year amounted to less than 1%. The first place was taken
by AZULEJOS SATIN, S.L., which managed to increase its share by 31 p.p.

Russia
The leader among Russian importers in 2009-2010 years Cerama Export LTD retains the first place in
2011 with only slight decrease in share by 5 p.p.
The market of ceramic tile import from Russia is quite concentrated in 2011 year 16 companies
imported tile from Russia.

Belarus
In 2011 supply volumes of leading company Berezastroymaterialy OAO dropped by 8 p.p. to 32% along
with increase in the share of Ceramin OAO by 8 p.p. to 60%.

Italy
In spite of slight drop in market share, Cooperativa Ceramica D'Imola, the leader in tile supply from Italy,
retained its leading positions in 2011 year leaving the nearest competitor behind with 3.3 times lower
market share. Generally, the top four importers control about 35% of total supply.
Today 106 companies import tile from Italy.

1.1.5 Major countries-importers to Ukraine
There are several hundred Ukrainian companies-recipients; among them Kray Cerama ZAO, Agros OOO
and Agromat OOO are the biggest (21% altogether). Kray Cerama deals mainly with tile from Russia,
Agros from Spain and China while Agromat supply tile mostly from Italy, Spain and Russia.
Cersanit Invest, one of last years leaders in tile supply from Poland (fourth place in 2010), in 2011 took
only the seventh place.

China
Chinese tile comes to Ukraine mainly through WAIS PLUS OOO 21%, KOSMOLEDO ChP 20% and
SANDIS ChP 18%. The share of Agros OOO, the leader of 2010, dropped more than three times in
2011 compared to the previous year.

Poland
This year Cersanit Invest which imports tile of Cersanit trademark again became main importer from
Poland. In 2011 the share of Cersanit Invest decreased by 8 p.p. to 22%. The nearest competitor
TERMTEH ChP, which last year yielded to Cersanit Invest almost twice, in 2011 caught up with the leader
as its share also reached 22%.
Year by year Agromat has cut supply from Poland (in 2008 year - 25%; 2009 5%; 2010 2%; 2011
less than 1%).

Spain
The top five Ukrainian companies control almost 74% of import from Spain.
Last years leaders MONOLIT M OOO, Agros OOO and Agromat OOO had to share import volumes with
Swit-Bud OOO and Euro_Shans OOO.

Russia
Tile from Russia is imported mainly through Kray Cerama ZAO, which covers 79% of total supply.
In 2011 Agromat OOO increased its share by 5 p.p. to 9%.

Belarus
Remus-Dcor and Soprano-Trade, leaders of import from Belarus, control more than 2/3 of total supply.
PTK Agromat OOO which had previously occupied the third place, has stopped supply of ceramic tile from
Belarus.

Agromat OOO, the leader by tile import from Italy, strengthened positions (in 2010 it controlled about
38% of total supply, in 2011 a little bit more than 40%).

1.2 Tile export
1.2.1 Tile export in dynamics
Following increase in 2007-2008 and slight (-11%) drop in 2009 year, tile export demonstrated
considerable growth in 2010-2011 years - 80% and 90% respectively that is much higher than for the
foreign trade of Ukraine overall (35% of overall export growth). This sector of economy seems to stay in
relatively safe conditions.

1.2.2 Product type
In 2011 year the export structure by product types changed owing to decrease of the share of stoneware
ungrazed tile by 3 p.p. that led to growth in other tile types clay grazed and stoneware grazed tile by 2
p.p. and 5 p.p. respectively.

1.2.3 Tile export regional structure
Russia was the main recipient of Ukrainian ceramic tile in 2011. This country has been holding leading
positions since 2008 year. This year its share reached 69% that is 10 p.p. more than in previous period.
Moldova occupied the second place with 10% market share. Belarus which occupied the third place
within last years, in 2011 moved down to the fourth place having yielded to Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan in ts
turn managed 1 p.p. growth that seems considerable in view of total increase of ceramic tile export. Four
leaders export more than 90% of Ukrainian tile export volume.

1.3.1 Tile production in dynamics
Since 2005 there has been a steadily increasing trend in Ukrainian tile production volumes. The crisis of
2008 showed up clearly in production indicators which amounted to 14%-17%. In 2011 year ceramic tile
production in Ukraine was up by 16%.

1.3.2 Major manufacturers
Leaders of tile production in Ukraine remained the same: these are Atem OOO, ZAT Kharkiv Tile Plant
and Cersanit Invest which together manufacture nearly 70% of tile in Ukraine.
All leaders of 2010 year not only kept their positions, but also managed to rev up production in 2011. The
highest growth was recorded for ZAO nterkerama 56% compared to last year. The leader Atem OOO
increased production by 21% in 2011.

2. Sanitary ware market
2.1 Import
2.1.1 Sanitary ware import dynamics
The survey reveals gradual recovery in the market of sanitary ware after the crisis of 2008 year. Growth
of sanitary ware import in 2010 amounted to 15%, while in 2011 it was 26%. In 2011 sanitary ware
import in money terms amounted to 72 mln USD that exceeded the level of 2007 year.
Growth rate was lower than through the foreign trade overall (growth of total import in 2011 reached
approximately 36%).

2.1.2 Product types
Import mainly consists of plastic bathtubs, sanitary ware of faience, mixers and shower panels. The total
share of these three groups makes up 95% of sanitary ware import. Remaining 5% includes bathroom
furniture and accessories.
In 2001 year import of steel and cast-iron bathtubs was over. The highest growth was observed in the
segment of sanitary ware of faience as its share increased by 11 p.p. to 33% of total import.

Major countries-suppliers
The top three countries importing sanitary ware to Ukraine China, Poland and Germany have
remained unchanged for the last three years. The aggregate share of these countries in 2011 year
reached 75%. The fourth place was taken by Turkey which increased its share by 2 p.p. to 4% of total
sanitary ware import.
The market of sanitary ware by regions is highly concentrated. The top ten countries-importers bring in
94% of products.

China supplies to Ukraine the whole range of sanitary ware products. Moreover, internal structure of
China import is the most similar to the market structure in general. Poland specializes in plastic bathtubs
and shower cabins, Germany in mixers, while Turkey supplies mainly sanitary ware of faience.

In 2011 year in addition to increase of import volumes from China, we observed considerable growth in
companies supplying sanitary ware to Ukraine. In total 400 companies-suppliers have been registered.
Sector fragmentation strengthened if last year the leader supplied 8% of Chinese sanitary ware, this
year leaders share was less than 4%.

The structure of Ukrainian sanitary ware importers is highly fragmented - WAIS PLUS OOO controls
about 9% of supply (previously this company has not been included into the top sanitary ware
importers). The second place is taken by Cersanit Invest OOO with 6% share in 2011. Private
entrepreneurs weakened their positions and slipped down to the third place.
Each importer deals with the own supplier. The leader supplies sanitary ware mainly from China.

2.2.1 Sanitary ware export dynamics
Growth of exported sanitary ware continues in 2011. Compared to 2010, export of 2011 year increased
almost twice (88% growth). Segment growth indicators exceeded those recorded for the foreign trade
overall (33% export growth in Ukraine).

2.2.2 Product types
Export structure did not change significantly in 2011. Main export product in Ukraine remains furniture for
bathrooms with increase by 9 p.p. to 59% of sanitary ware supply compared to 2010 year. Such increase
relates to the category sanitary ware of faience (drop by 6 p.p.) and plastic bathtubs and shower
cabins (drop by 3 p.p.).

2.2.3 Sanitary ware export structure by regions
Russia remains key consumer of Ukrainian sanitary ware for several years in a raw with 60% share of
Ukrainian export in 2011 year. Only Russia produced some growth in export share (11 p.p.) whereas
export shares of other leading countries slightly declined. Following overall increase in sanitary ware
export, all countries increased volumes of exported sanitary ware.

Russia
In 2011 OOO Akva Rodos pljus achieved first place among recipients of Ukrainian products in Russia with
50% market share. Last year this company occupied the fourth place with 10% share. Last years leader
Cersanit Rus OOO moved to the second place by losing 9 p.p. of its share. The first three leaders control
about 85% of supply from Russia. Trade relationships are registered with 27 Russian companies.

Belarus
Snabstroyservis OOO remained key recipient of Ukrainain sanitary ware in Belarus. The company covers
half of Ukrainian export to this country. In 2011 the company cut its share by 5 p.p. Desyatka-story,
which last year occupied the second place, decreased share by 1 p.p. and yielded to OOO
IMPORTSTROJMATERIALY with 16% market share.

Akva-Rodos and OOO Yuventa deal mainly with Russia and Kazakhstan, while OOO UKRSANLIT with
Russia only.

2.3 Production
This chapter analyzes production of ceramic sanitary ware, sanitary ware made of steel and plastic.
Through 2005-2011 production of ceramic sanitary wares has steadily increased. Increase in sanitary
ware export is confirmed through growth of production volume. In 2011 volume of sanitary ware made in
Ukraine rose by 20% compared to 2010 year.

3 companies manufacture sanitary ware in Ukraine. Their shares did not change in 2011 compared to the
previous year even despite of 20% increase in production volume that is equal to growth of overall

Marble, granite, slate, limestone and other types of stone were brought to Ukraine in 2011 (basalt,
labradorite, gabbro, etc.). The share of marble in the import structure remains at last years level (60%).
The share of granite rose compared to last year by 9 p.p. and reached the level of 2009.

In 2011 year Italy retained its positions as the leader among countries-suppliers of building stone by
increasing its share by 5 p.p.
This year Turkey moved down to the second place still keeping its share unchanged. The third place is
traditionally occupied by China (21%), Russia yields to Spain. 70% of building stone is imported from the
top three countries.

The structure of Ukrainian building stone importers seems highly fragmented the leading company
covers only 9% of total supply.
In 2011 AKAM OOO imported the highest share of natural stone covering 9% import share. 75% of its
import volume is brought from China.

3.2 Building stone export
3.2.1 Building stone export in dynamics
We observe a positive trend in the market of building stone export: export growth in 2011 amounted to
39,2 mln USD that is 19% higher compared to 2010. This indicator is lower than overall export growth
(35%) although volume of exported stone exceeded figures of pre-crisis 2008 year by 13%.

3.2.2 Product types
2011 year sees decrease of granite share (by 8 p.p.) in the structure of building stone export. Such
reduction relates to increase of gabbro share (40% of export volume) and labradorite (18% of export
volume). Other types of stone make up 3% of export altogether.

Key recipients of Ukrainian stone are our closest neighbors Russia (44% of total export volume) and
Belarus (17% of export volume). This year Italy joined them by leaving Poland behind in consumption of
Ukrainian stone. Its share in 2011 was up by 5% to 10% of stone supply.

almost to 40% as well as last year. The primary reason relates to the fact that stone for building is often

The market of companies exporting Ukrainian stone abroad seems to be highly fragmented. Leaders
share amounts only to 7% of total export while the top five companies cover 21% of supply.
The first four exporters from the rating supply stone mainly to Russia and Belarus. OOO KOZ Omfal and
Petroippeks export stone to Italy.

Russia
As well as overall export, the structure of stone supply to Russia is highly fragmented. The top 3
exporters of building stone to Russia control only 17% of supply. In 2011 the share of private
entrepreneurs decreased by 14 p.p. to 6%. The first place among enterprises was taken by OOO
Kamneobrabatyvayuschiy zavod Omfal which exported about 6% of total stone export volume to Russia.

amounts to 62% of supply. The first place among exporters of building stone to Italy has OOO
Dekorativnyi kamen Ukrainy, which covers 24% of supply to Italy, followed by ZAO Petroimpeks with
20% share. The third place is held by OOO Polesskiy Labradorit with 18% market share.

3.3 Production
3.3.1 Building stone production dynamics

Ukraine produces mainly granite, limestone and sandstone. After drop of natural building stone
production in 2009-2010, 2011 year sees increase in stone extraction up to 17%. Hovewer in fact growth
was recorded only for granite production (by 30%) along with the decrease in other types of stone.

3.3.2 Major manufacturers
There was certain reshuffling of granite producers in 2011 Nadra Ukrainy which enjoyed the lead in
2010, this year lost leading positions. The new leader is Korostenskiy schebnevyoi zavod OAO, which
controls 27% of granite market. The second place was taken by Gidroenergostroy upravlenie
mehanizirovannyh rabot which showed 73% of production growth in 2011. Rounding out the top three
were Dorbudindustriya, Tomashgorodskiy kamne-drobilnyi zavod with 10% market share.

As for limestone production, Gipsovik, the biggest enterprise among branch leaders, cut production by
9% to 14% market share. The second and third places were taken by Deney OOO and Detrit MChP,
which in 2011 managed to double their shares with 79% and 150% production growth respectively.
Besides, Sokiryanska ispravitelnay kolonia 67 (10% growth) increased production volume, whereas
other market players reduced limestone production.
