Status of ECE in Pakistan

1. Definition of ECE:
Early Childhood Education or ECE relates to early learning of young children and
consists of activities or experiences that are intended to effect developmental changes in
children prior to their entry into formal class, grade or primary school.

There is a need to understand that how to define the ECE in Pakistan before discussing
the importance of ECE in Pakistan.
a) ECE
It is defined as formal/ informal and private and public education services for
children of 3 to 5 years in Pakistan. ECE is used as services which required a
proper environment. For example, separate classroom, separate teacher, proper
teaching learning material.

In Pakistan, the pre-primary school is defined as Katchi class in
Government school

b) Child development in early days
Effect of development occurs in the early days, months and days of children. This
time period is effected for life time on children. Child development can be
effected on child personality by parents, preschool, teacher and care givers who
determine how child learns and relates in school in particular or general.
During the early care child develops all the key elements of emotional,
intelligence, namely confidence, curiosity, purposefulness, self control,
connectedness, capacity to communication and co-cooperativeness. Earlier years
helps to reduce social economic disparities.
In Pakistan, due to social and economic disparities and race and gender inequality,
our society is divided. Poor children of urban and rural communities cant make
effort in the development and growth of our children. The cycle of poverty,
disease, violence and discrimination could be ended on the girls born in poor
families. Usually, people get their daughters to be married in early age. The girl
becomes mother while still an adult. So, this poverty transmits to the next
generation. Today, the women can raise income from the chore of early childhood
developmental programs.
Women can participate freely in ECE. It can be helpful and beneficial in raising
their style and ways of life economically. From the past few years, there has been
great debate of early education of children in their early years of life. Many
researchers have proved this trend of educating little kids more successful and
highly beneficial for providing them the solid base of learning. It has been proved
that early learning of kids can enhance their capacity of learning. It is a good time
to promote moral values including self-respect and respect for other members of
society, tolerance and justice.
c) Effect of early childhood education on childs development and
his future
The developmental tenor of kids at early stages of learning is so crucial. Childs
concept of life and surroundings, skills, knowledge an attitude become foundation
for life log learning.Child development in early years includes acquisition of
language learning, problem solving skills and love in early learning perception,
motor skills requires for learning to read and skills. Its quality is possible with
early childhood education.
Educational efficiency would improve the childrens basic skill which is
reducing chances of failure in ECE. Researches prove that child psychology has
also revealed that the initial five years of childs life are extremely important in
shaping his/her personality and has critical impact on the primary school
performance and child development which works as building blocks for childs
future development. So, the experts believe that formal and pre-school education
should start from the 5
