PERSONNEL:

This week staff worked on annual
performance evaluations of employees.

PATROL/DETECTIVES:

This week detectives and patrol officers
continued investigating a call of an assault
from Friday, May 23, 2014 in the 400 block
of Eight Street. During the incident
individuals wearing masks entered a home
unannounced holding a metal baseball bat
and metal rod. One of the residents of the
home was struck multiple times and
received severe injuries. The other residents
of the home were also threatened and cash
was taken from one of them. The victim's
residence was ransacked and many items
were broken by the suspects, as well as
electronic equipment stolen. The suspects
were known to the victims and easily
identified by them. On Thursday of this
week two male suspects were taken into
custody by law enforcement without
incident. A 22-year-old Cloquet man was
formally charged with Burglary in the First
Degree, Aggravated Robbery in the First
Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault
in the Second Degree, and is being held at
the Carlton County Law Enforcement
Center. The second suspect, a 17-year-old
Cromwell male, is being held at the
Arrowhead Juvenile Center in Duluth. He
has been formally charged with Burglary in
the First-Degree, Aggravated Robbery in the
First-Degree, Assault in the First Degree,
and Assault in the Second Degree.

Patrol staff has been investigating the
injuries to a 14-year-old female in the 2200
block of Kelly Avenue stemming from
a dog attack. The original 911 call
came out as two dogs fighting; a
second call a short time later stated
that a girl was attacked by two dogs.
The 14-year-old female received
multiple injuries from the attack. Staff
has been working with the City
Attorney's Office on the charging of
the animal's owner, and proper
designation of the dogs being deemed
dangerous. The dogs are currently
being held at the Friends of Animals
facility. The investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday of this week Cloquet
Police detectives received information
that an individual was selling
methamphetamines and prescription
medication in the City of Cloquet.
Acting on that information, detectives
located the individual in the 1400
block of Cloquet Avenue. When
approached, the individual appeared to
be concealing something in his shoe.
During the investigation it was
discovered that the suspect had
methamphetamines and controlled
substances. The suspect was charged
with two counts of Possession of
Controlled Substances Fifth Degree.

TOWARDS ZERO DEATH CAMPAIGN:

During the month of May officers of
our department are working in
conjunction with the Fond du Lac

Olympics Minnesota. Detective Randall took part in an
