Import
Import requirements from Word documents using
patented BlueDocs technology including text, hierarchy,
properties, graphics, and even comments. Also import
requirements and glossaries from Excel and diagrams from
Visio. Blueprint makes it easy to bring all your requirements
into a central, shareable system of record.
Edit Multiple Requirements Formats
Editors for rich text requirements, business processes,
domain diagrams, glossaries, use cases, use case diagrams
generic diagrams, UI mockups, and storyboards let you
choose the most suitable format for capturing each
requirement. More visual requirements removes ambiguity
and makes them both more engaging and easier to
understand.
Organize And Integrate Requirements
Regardless of format, Blueprint integrates requirements to
promote consistency and ensure that nothing is missed. A
spreadsheet-style view lists all requirements, regardless of
type, showing where they ft and letting users make edits
quickly and easily. Commenting, fle attachments, and
relationships are supported to a very detailed level even
for diagrams.
Role-Based Access
Blueprint lets you defne the roles you need for your project, and
then assign any number of people to those roles. Privileges are
granted for roles at the project, folder or even individual artifact
level. Blueprints fexible role-based access makes collaborative
access to requirements by large and diverse teams manageable.
Social Collaboration
Blueprint provides the features needed for stakeholders to get
engaged early and often. Users communicate about specifc
requirements through social discussions where they like or
dislike comments and draw others into the conversation
simply by @mentioning them. Email notifcations keep team
members up to date and help ensure nothing is missed. The
Activity Center helps users keep their fnger on the pulse of
the requirements, through a personal feed of relevant events
like reviews, changes or comments on requirements that are of
interest.

Online Review And Approval
Review and approve requirements using a simple and
efcient online review and approve experience. Progress
of all reviews is tracked using graphical dashboards showing
review progress based on both requirements artifacts and
individual reviewers.
Instead of reviewers beingislands unto themselves while
reviewing, Blueprints online review and approve lets
users interact during the review, see each others input
and engage in discussion, all of which leads to faster
convergence on theright requirements.
Generate Tests
Automatically generate tests from use cases
to not only save the countless hours it usually
takes to create those tests by hand but also
to provide higher test quality and more
reliable test coverage. The resulting tests can
be output to HP ALM, or to Excel. Blueprints
test generation ensures a strong connection
between requirements and the tests that
confrms the application satisfes them.
Traceability
Blueprint traceability features are powerful, yet easy to
use. Drag and drop requirements to quickly establish trace
relationships. Trace relationships are very precise - not
just to a use case, but to the use case steps for example.
Icons show when an artifact has traces, keeping these
relationships top-of-mind. Traces appear during simulations
and in reviews to provide context. A Traceability Explorer
with sophisticated flters lets users analyze trace
relationships in depth. And, trace relationships can be
output in generated documents, to Excel, and to HP ALM.
Blueprints powerful features for leveraging traceability
allow users to easily assess coverage and change impact,
and to manage scope.
Version Control And Baselines
Complete version history is maintained for every
requirement. Historical versions can be opened to see how
they used to appear. Select any two versions and Blueprint
instantly shows the diferences, even using a side-by-side
comparison for diagrams. Baselines record the state of an
entire project, or any subset, and baseline comparisons
show specifcally whats changed in baselines over time.
Blueprints versioning and baselines provide the control
needed as the team progresses toward the goal.
Enterprise Ready
Blueprint integrates with your enterprise directory (Active
Directory / LDAP), or alternatively users and groups can
be defned locally in the centralized database. Role-based
access rights can be granted to entire projects, or to any

Blueprint is also highly adaptable allowing it to
support any process. Custom requirement types
can be created with custom properties based on
any of the standard types in Blueprint. Project
templates allow you to have pre-defned project
confgurations to standardize and accelerate
project initiation. The Blueprint requirements
platform provides the capabilities needed
to support large, distributed, projects in the
enterprise.

Exchange text and graphical requirements information with
Microsoft Ofce products including Word, Excel, and Visio.
BlueDocs technology intelligently parses Word documents
and extracts text and graphical information into Blueprint.
Blueprint also generates requirements documentation in
Word automatically. In the case of Excel, Blueprint imports
text requirements with hierarchy and custom properties, and
exports requirements information from a variety of Blueprint
views. In the case of Visio, Blueprint imports diagrams with
automatic shape recognition, and Blueprint diagrams can be
exported to Visio format.
Integrate With ALMTools
Blueprint supports full bi-directional integration of data
with popular ALMproducts including Rally, VersionOne,
JIRA, IBM-RTC, and Microsoft TFS. These integrations are
based on industry-leading OpsHub technology which is
highly confgurable and reliable. Blueprint also provides
an integration with HP Quality Center and HP ALMwhere
both requirements and test information, including complete
traceability, are transferred from Blueprint to the HP solution
and automatically updated as requirements change.
Open API
Blueprints web-based open API allows access to
requirements information by external applications. API
functionality is governed by the role-based security
privileges confgured in the Blueprint project(s). The
open API allows Blueprint customers and others to build
integrations between Blueprint and other software
applications in a manner thats supported and sustainable.

capability that formats all the business analysis and requirements information held by Blueprint
and makes it available for analysis and reporting by any popular Business Intelligence (BI)
toolset available today.
