The daily number of hourly obser"ed precipitation reports, color coded according to precipitation
type, and stacked in order of se"erity. From the bottom up, the categories are thunderstorms
(orange); hea"y, moderate, and light snow (dark to light blue); hea"y, moderate, and light rain
(dark to light green); and drizzle (lightest green). Not all categories are necessarily present in
this particular graph. The faint shaded areas indicate climate normals. The bar at the top of the
graph is green if any precipitation was obser"ed that day and white otherwise.

The daily low (brown) and high (blue) relati"e humidity with the area between
them shaded gray and superimposed o"er the corresponding a"erages (thick lines),
and with percentile bands (inner band from 25th to 75th percentile, outer band
from 10th to 90th percentile).

speed (light gray area) and
the maximum daily wind
gust speed (tiny blue

data of 2013
The highest sustained wind speed was 22
m/s, occurring on April 8; the highest
daily mean wind speedwas 12 m/s (June
7); and the highest wind gust speed was
17 m/s (August 4).
The windiest month was May, with an
a"erage wind speed of 6 m/s. The least
windy month was No"ember, with an
a"erage wind speed of 3 m/s.

Tropical cyclones ha"e a wide range of wind speeds that are used to classify their
intensities. NOAAs National !limatic Data !enter assembled the best track data for
11,967 tropical cyclones into a single database, called IBTrA!S, with information from
1842 to 2012. Included in that database are estimates of wind speeds along the tracks of
the storms. This image shows the output of that data.
