BACKGROUND OF STUDY.

Malaysian curriculum in schools is a part of the education system in Malaysia. From this situation, sport
has become an activity that is compulsory for all students in all middle school and elementary school.
Sport activities are important as an essential tool to fulfilling the national education policy to unite
students from various ethnic groups which also to build united and harmony communities live in the
future.
Nowadays, communities sport has become a main issue impact from the growth focused to help achieve
a social policy purpose which involved people health of physicals and emotions (Doherty, A. & Cousens,
L., 2013).
As stated by Skinner, J., Zakus, D. H., and Cowell, J. (2008), communities are also totally depends on their
social environment situation in shaping their attitude towards social value.
In another study by Cashman, R. (2010), most of communities also see that sport in recreational and
organized activity will raise the value of social communication among communities itself.

Research has revealed increasing pressures on sport at the community level that include, for example,
expectations for the delivery of programs and services, and particularly those that are more socially
inclusive, in a more efficient and effective (and thus more sophisticated) manner (e.g., Harris, Mori, &
Collins, 2009). In 1997, Nunn and Rosentraub stated that the impact of sport on communities hosting
professional sports teams is the purported benefits of sport to be nearly non-existence.

PROBLEM STATEMENT.
The sports problem among Malaysian communities now is where some of the sport type was dominated
by specific race only. This condition will raising the communication problem among Malaysian
communities where they can only communicated among the same race and didnt opened up to
communicate with different race. In addition, a goal to become a winner with a competition will worsen
the situation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to know the perception of Malaysian communities
towards sports as medium in uniting Malaysian communities. As Malaysia government concern, the
unity of various communities in Malaysia is essential in order to protect and stand as a harmonies
country.

LITERATURE REVIEW.
Community is a powerful construct in the discourses of both feminism and sport, and so it is not
surprising that it is a preeminent virtue in attempts to speak about, to, or for female athletes. In
its popular conceptions, community is desired and celebrated as individuals coming together
based on a solidarity, harmony, or agreement around an essence. In sport scholarship, the
specific meanings, implications, contradictions, and effects that govern this particular
understanding of community have remained unexplored (Helstein, M. T., 2005).
