Editorial
With this issue we take leave of our role as General Editors of the
Journal,
which, as of issue 1
l/i,
will
pass
to Caroline Bithell and Janet
Topp-Fargion,
whose contact details
appear
on the inside back cover of this issue.
Although
we cannot claim to have
put
the Journal
entirely
back on schedule
-
an
achievement we will have to leave to our successors
-
we have made
progress
in this
regard,
while
doing
our best to sustain the
high
standard established
by
the Journal's
founding
editors.
Moreover, as of volume 9,
we have succeeded
in
producing
two issues
per year, by centering
the first issue of each volume
around a
specific
theme under the
responsibility
of a
Special
Editor or Editors.
We would like to take this
opportunity
to thank
everyone
who has assisted
us over the
past
three
years, including contributors, reviewers, referees and
members of the Editorial Board. We are
particularly grateful
to the
past
editors
for their
support
and advice, especially during
the
"teething" phase,
when we
were still
learning
the
ropes. Special
thanks
go
to Carole
Pegg
for her
support
in the role of Reviews Editor, and to Jane Wood, Pamela
Higgins,
Corinne
Orde and
Romilly Hambling
for their assistance in
copy-editing, page layout
and
design.
We must also
aknowledge
the considerable financial
support
we
received from the
Open University's
Research
Development
Fund over the
course of our
editorship,
which has enabled us to move to two issues
per year
and
professionalize
our
production processes.
We remain committed to the Journal and offer our full
support
to the new
editors, whom we will be
delighted
to assist in
any way required.
Caroline and
Janet,
we offer
you
our sincerest
congratulations,
our best wishes and our
sympathy!
The Editors
