With effect from Apri|, 200, the examination for each
subject in Stae I wi|| be for 200 marks and of hours duration.
Each subject wi|| have 2 papers of 100 marks each and of
3 hours duration. Examinations wi|| be conducted in the mornin
session (3 hours) and the afternoon session (3 hours). This
new format of examinations for Stae II and Stae III wi||
be introduced from Apri|, 2007 and Apri|, 2008 respective|y.

The students are required to study and comp|ete the three
staes in a sequentia| manner.

Further, in order to supp|ement the students efforts throuh
se|f study, the students are encouraed to attend trainin c|asses
at p|aces where the branch offices of the Institute are |ocated.
The trainin c|asses constitute an important stae in the |earnin
methodo|oy by enab|in the students to ain an indepth
understandin of the subjects. They provide a p|atform to
the students for better understandin of the concepts and
a|so to c|arify any doubts in the respective subjects and therefore
prepare we|| for the examinations.

The examinations are conceived, deve|oped and administered
on a riorous and fair basis to brin out the best in the students
and prepare them for cha||enin careers in the wor|d of

Examinations for the proram are conducted four times a year
in |anuary, Apri|, |u|y and Cctober.

The mode| question papers with suested answers based on
previous examination pattern are inc|uded in the respective
workbooks. For students who have appeared for the current
exami nati on, the suested answers for that parti cu| ar
examination wi|| be avai|ab|e on the website (on payment of
requisite amount on|ine) for a period of seven days from the
date of examination. However students can procure on|ine the
previous examinations question papers with suested answers
by payin the requisite amount on|ine.

Subsequent|y, they can appear for each roup every three months.

Possing kequiremenl
K To pass in a roup, a student must secure an averae of
55 per cent marks for the two subjects in the roup, subject
to a minimum of 45 per cent in each of them.
K If a student secures 5 per cent or more in one of the
subjects of a roup, but fai|s to et 45 per cent in the
other subject of the same roup, he/she wi|| et exemption
from the subject in which he/she has secured 5 per cent
or more. When an exemption is secured in one subject,
the student must secure a minimum of 45 per cent in
the other subject in a subsequent sittin to pass the roup.
K Wherever a student is ranted a waiver in one subject of
a roup, such students wi|| have to secure 55% or more
in the other subject to pass the roup.

The oa| of the Admissions 8oard is to se|ect students whose
academic backround, work experience, |eadership abi|ities
and communication ski||s meet the demands of the M8A Proram
and promise a successfu| career in manaement. These
individua|s must be ab|e to benefit from, as we|| as, contribute
to the educationa| prorams. Inte||ient, ethica|, articu|ate
and active individua|s are encouraed to pursue this proram.
The Admissions 8oard eva|uates app|icants' potentia| as future
|eaders and their projected abi|ity to succeed in and profit
from the proram.
Enrollmenl
App|ications received from the students are checked for the
basic e|iibi|ity criteria and the e|iib|e students are enro||ed
into the proram. The app|ications received from students
awaitin fina| year resu|ts or those who do not have the
certificates readi|y for submission, wi|| a|so be processed and
enro||ed into the proram. However such students wi|| have
to submit the re|evant certificates of the qua|ifications c|aimed
in the app|ication as soon as they are made avai|ab|e to such
students.

If the app|icants do not satisfy the e|iibi|ity criteria, the
app|ications are returned to them a|on with a|| enc|osures
and the amount paid after deductin Rs.500. Such students
are, however, permitted to app|y aain after they satisfy the
e|iibi|ity criteria. The students whose app|ication have been
rejected may appea| to the Admissions 8oard, if they wish
to have a review of their app|ications.
5ludenls kegulolions
A|| students who are enro||ed into the proram wi|| be provided
with the Students Reu|ations which contain the various ru|es
and reu|ations pertainin to administerin the proram and
the examinations. A|| reistered students of the University
are required to strict|y adhere to the ru|es and reu|ations
stipu|ated therein.
ldenlily Cord
A photo identity card wi|| be provided to the students after
their enro||ment into the proram by the University. The enro||ed
students are required to produce the identity card at the time
of examinations.
Poymenl
The app|icants enro||in into the proram are required to
pay a basic amount of Rs. 53,300. Students optin for Trainin
C|asses and Specia| P|acement Scheme are required to pay
additiona| fee (as iven on pae 27 in payment schedu|e).
A one time examination fee of Rs.800 for the first roup is
inc|uded in the basic amount. For the remainin roups, the
examination fee of Rs.800 per roup is to be paid by the students
separate|y as and when they reister for the examinations.
P|ease note that there wi|| be no reduction in basic amount
even if a student is e|iib|e to c|aim subjectwise waivers based
on prior qua|ifications as indicated on pae .

circumstances, except in the case of rejected app|ications.
Loon Focilily
A |oan faci|ity is offered to the students by Hifco Marwe|
Limited (HML) under "Marwe| Educationa| Loan Scheme".
Students who wish to avai| the |oan faci|ity from HML shou|d
comp|ete the |oan app|ication form inc|uded in this document.
They shou|d a|so enc|ose the postdated cheques for the required
amount drawn in favour of "Marwe| Educationa| Loans
A/c HML" towards Equated Month|y Insta||ments. HML pays
direct|y to the Institute and the affi|iates the entire |oan amount
sanctioned to the student. Hence, the student is required
to sett|e the |oan amount inc|udin interest and other chares,
if any, direct|y with HML.

H. 0501. Applicability
These Regulations shall become applicable with effect from April 01, 2005.
H. 0502. Definitions
For the purpose of these Regulations, the following terms shall have the meanings assigned to them unless
the context is repugnant to such a meaning.
(1) Agreement shall mean the application for loan under the Regulations made by the borrower to the
lender. The Agreement constitutes and expresses the entire Agreement and understanding between the
lender and the borrower in reference to all matters herein referred to, all previous discussions, promises,
representations, and understandings relative thereto, if any, had between the parties hereto, being herein
merged.
(2) Borrower shall mean the student of the University including the applicant for any of the distance
learning programs offered by the University, being an Indian citizen and also domiciled in India, who has
availed the loan facility of the lender and shall also include the signatories of PDCs. The borrower shall
also include the parent or the guardian of the borrower signing the loan application form, the coborrower
as defined in Regulation H. 0502 (3) and the guarantor as defined under the Regulation H. 0502 (5).
(3) Coborrower shall mean the person other than the borrower signing the postdated cheques (PDCs).
(4) EMI shall mean the equated monthly installment, as stipulated under the Regulation H. 0505 (1).
(5) Guarantor shall mean the person who has given personal guarantee on behalf of the borrower for
repayment of the loan by the borrower.
(6) ICFAI shall mean the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, a non-profit society under the
Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Act, 1350F (Act 1 of 1350F) and includes all
successor organizations and organizations sponsored and established by ICFAI.
(7) Lender shall mean Hifco Marwel Limited, a company registered under the Companies Act, 1956 and
shall include all successor organizations.
(8) PDC shall mean the postdated cheques issued by the borrower in favor of the lender on any scheduled
commercial bank located in specified cities.
(9) Regulations shall mean the Marwel (Educational Loan Scheme) Regulations, 2005 and includes all
amendments thereto.
(10) Scheme shall mean the educational loan scheme as per the Regulations.
(11) Specified cities shall mean the cities specified under the Regulation H. 0505 (3).
(12) University shall mean the ICFAI University, which represents the multi-state network of Universities
sponsored by ICFAI, in different States in India under respective legislations. Each University in the
network may have a separate name and has independent legal status.
H. 0503. The borrowers interested in the scheme shall apply to the lender and such application shall be treated
as the Agreement. The Agreement constitutes and expresses the entire Agreement and understanding between
the lender and the borrower in reference to all matters herein referred to, all previous discussions, promises,
representations, and understandings relative thereto, if any, had between the parties hereto, being herein
merged.
H. 0504.
(1) The lender may consider the application and grant the loan to the borrower under the scheme, subject
to necessary conditions.
(2) The loan amount shall be paid by the lender directly to the University on behalf of the borrower under
the scheme. To clarify further, no loan amount shall be paid by the lender to the borrower directly under
any circumstances.
H. 0505
(1) (a) The borrower shall pay a sum of Rs. 90 for every Rs.1,000 loan amount towards EMI for a period
of 12 months, if he/she enrolls into the MS or MBA or MCA Programs of the University.
(b) The borrower shall pay a sum of Rs.175 for every Rs.1,000 loan amount towards EMI for a period
of 6 months, if he/she enrolls into the Postgraduate Diploma Programs and specified Undergraduate
Degree Programs of the University.
(2) (a) The borrower shall issue the necessary number of PDCs towards EMI to fully repay the loan
amount along with interest and other charges including service tax, wherever applicable. The
PDCs are payable on the first day of every month depending on the date of Agreement, as given
below:
(b) If a borrower enrolls into the program of the University between 1

installments are payable by such a borrower from 1

example, if a borrower enrolls between May 01 and 15, the monthly installments will be payable
by such borrower from June 1

onwards.
(c) If a borrower enrolls into the program of the University between 16

monthly installments are payable by such a borrower from 1

of the next to next month onwards.
For example, if a borrower enrolls between May 16 and 31, the monthly installments will be
payable by such borrower from July 1
st
onwards.
(3) The PDCs should be drawn on scheduled commercial banks located in the cities specified below and
also all the places where ICFAI branches are currently located: Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad,
Ahmednagar, Ajmer, Aligarh, Allahabad, Alwar, Ambala, Ambernath, Amravati, Amritsar,
Anand, Anantapur, Ankleshwar, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bareilly, Barrackpore, Belgaum,
Bellary, Berhampur, Bhatinda, Bhavnagar, Bhilai, Bhilwara, Bhimavaram, Bhopal,
Bhubaneswar, Bidar, Bijapur, Bikaner, Bilaspur, Bokaro, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai,
Chittoor, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Davangere, Dehradun, Dharmashala, Dharwad, Durg,
Durgapur, Ernakulam, Faridabad, Gandhidham, Gandhinagar, Gangtok, Ghaziabad, Goa,
Gorakhpur, Gulbarga, Guntur, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Gwalior, Haldwani, Hissar, Howrah, Hubli,

(4) To clarify further, if any borrower or coborrower issues PDCs drawn on any bank like a co-operative bank
or a regional rural bank, etc., or issues on scheduled commercial banks located in cities other than the
specified cities indicated in H. 0505 (3) above, such PDCs will not be accepted.
H. 0506.
(1) The lender may ask the borrower to arrange for two persons of standing to give personal guarantee for
repayment of the loan by the borrower.
(2) The borrower shall arrange for the guarantors, complete and submit the required documents within thirty
days of the Agreement.
(3) The borrower shall complete all the prescribed documentation work, including execution of a Demand
Promissory Note, submission of a form for verification of borrowers signature by a banker, a form for
verification of coborrowers signature by a banker and two forms for verification of two guarantors
signatures by a banker relating to the loan under the scheme within thirty days of the Agreement.
(4) The borrower, the coborrower and the guarantors shall undertake to inform the lender of any changes
in details provided in the Application Form, including but not limited to, change of address, telephone/
fax numbers, e-mail ID, as long as the loan is outstanding in the books of the lender.
H. 0507.
(1) The borrower and the coborrower shall make necessary arrangements to honor the PDCs on due dates.
(2) The borrower and the coborrower shall not obstruct in any manner the honoring of the PDCs on due dates.
(3) In case of prepayment of loan, the lender does not levy any penalty. On full payment of the outstanding
loan amount including interest and other charges, if any, the loan account will be closed.
H. 0508.
(1) In the event of dishonor of one or more PDCs, the lender reserves the right to foreclose the loan account,
to recall the entire loan amount outstanding and to prosecute the borrower and the coborrower under
Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and also to take legal and other actions as may
be necessary for the recovery of the entire balance of loan outstanding with further interest of 18% per
annum and also to initiate legal proceedings against the guarantor for the recovery of the balance of loan
including interest and further charges, if any.
(2) In addition, the dishonor of PDCs attracts a penalty of Rs.250 per PDC.
(3) In case of payments by the borrower relating to defaults, the lender accepts payments only by way of
demand drafts. No cash payments are accepted.
(4) None of the employees of the lender is authorized to accept cash payments from the borrower.
(5) None of the employees of the lender is authorized to make a settlement or compromise with any
borrower.
H. 0509. The borrower cannot assign the Agreement or any part thereof. The lender may, without necessity
of the borrowers consent, assign its rights and obligations under the Agreement to a Third party.
H. 0510. The borrower shall indemnify, defend and hold the lender harmless from and against any loss,
damage, liability and expense (including reasonable attorneys fees and costs) arising out of any third party
claim, action or proceeding based directly or indirectly on the acts of omission or commission by the borrower
or his/her agents, the breach or alleged breach or failure to comply with any applicable laws or regulations,
concerning the professional work or arising out of the loan being given to the borrower.
H. 0511.
(1) The responsibility of the lender towards the borrower is limited only to the extent of the loan sanctioned
and the payment directly made to the University on behalf of the borrower under Regulation H.0504. To
clarify further there will be no future obligation of the lender towards the borrower.
(2) Neither the directors nor the employees of the lender are personally liable in any manner under the
scheme to the borrower, the coborrower and the guarantors.
H. 0512. After the loan application is approved, the lender pays, on behalf of the borrower, the loan amount to the
University. To clarify further the lender does not pay any part of the loan to the borrower directly.
H. 0513. The lender shall not be liable for delay or failure in performance of any of its obligations under the
Agreement when such delay or failure arises from events or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of
the lender (including, without limitation, acts of God, fire, flood, war, explosion, sabotage, terrorism, embargo,
civil commotion, acts or omissions of any government entity, changes in Regulations of Central/State
Governments, supplier delays, communications or power failure, equipment or software malfunction, or
employees/student disputes, strikes, court decisions, bankruptcy, liquidation).
H. 0514.
(1) The lender, the ICFAI and the University are separate and independent legal entities. ICFAI and the
University are not parties to this agreement, and hence cannot be held responsible directly or indirectly
for any acts of commission or omission by the lender or by the borrower. Similarly the lender cannot be
held responsible directly or indirectly for any acts of commission or omission by ICFAI and/or the
University.
(2) The borrower and the coborrower shall continue to honor the PDCs whether the borrower continues to
be a student of the University or not, for any reason whatsoever. To clarify further, the legal liability of
the borrower and the coborrower to repay the loan amount is independent of the status of the borrower
as a student of the University.
(3) As per the bilateral agreement between the University and the lender, the University shall suspend all
services to the borrower if the borrower does not complete all the loan documentation work, as specified
in Regulation H.0506, and/or if any of the PDCs issued by the borrower is dishonored, whatever may
be the reason; and the University will resume the normal service to the borrower only after a no objection
certificate is issued by the lender.
(4) Any inadequacy or failure and alleged inadequacy or failure in service by ICFAI or by the University shall
not be the basis for the borrower or the coborrower or the guarantor for dishonor of any PDCs covered
under this agreement.
H. 0515. Sanction of loan to any borrower shall not entitle any other person to any rights as a third party
beneficiary.
H. 0516. In case of any difficulty in interpretation of any clauses under these regulations the Board of Directors
of the lender reserves the right to issue necessary clarifications which shall be binding on the borrower, the
coborrower and the guarantors.
H. 0517. The lender reserves the right to revise, modify, alter, and change the Regulations from time to time
and such changes shall be binding on the borrower, the coborrower and the guarantors.
H. 0518. The Agreement shall be deemed to have been made in Hyderabad in the State of Andhra Pradesh,
India and shall be construed and enforced in accordance with and the validity and performance hereof shall
be governed by the laws of the State of Andhra Pradesh, India without reference to principles of conflict of laws
thereof. Judicial proceedings against the lender regarding any matter arising under the terms of the Agreement
shall be brought only in the relevant Courts of Hyderabad, India and not elsewhere. The lender, however,
reserves the right to sue the borrower, the coborrower and the guarantors in Hyderabad and elsewhere,
depending on the circumstances. (1005)

A. 0501. These regulations shall come into force and be applicable with effect from
April 01, 2005 and shall remain in force along with changes and amendments made
from time to time, until notified otherwise.
A. 0502. For the purpose of these Regulations, the following terms shall have the
meanings assigned to them unless the context is repugnant to such a meaning.
(1) Agreement shall mean the application for registration under the Regulations
made by the eligible student to the service provider. The Agreement constitutes
and expresses the entire Agreement and understanding between the service
provider and the registered students in reference to all matters herein referred to,
all previous discussions, promises, representations, and understandings relative
thereto, if any, had between the parties hereto, being herein merged.
(2) CTC shall mean salary, benefits, amenities, incentives, allowances,
reimbursements, bonuses, and all such payments or expenses reimbursed by
the employer or incurred by the employer for the benefit of the employee
including all those benefits covered under the Fringe Benefits Tax, as per the
Finance Act, 2005 on a cost-to-company basis.
(3) Effective date shall mean the date on which the service provider confirms the
registration to the eligible student under the scheme.
(4) Eligible student shall mean student in India and of Indian origin and domiciled
in India duly enrolled for the prescribed program of the University on or after
April 01, 2005. The term also includes the applicants for the prescribed program
of the University.
(5) ICFAI shall mean The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, a non-
profit society registered under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public
Societies Registration Act 1350F (Act 1 of 1350F) and includes all organizations
sponsored and established by ICFAI in India and abroad.
(6) Prescribed fee shall mean the fee prescribed by the service provider for
registration of eligible students under the scheme as per the Agreement. The fee
shall include service tax, wherever applicable. This does not include the
`additional fee as indicated in the Regulation 0506 (3).
(7) Approved program shall mean a program offered by the University on a
distance learning basis and approved by the service provider under the
Regulations.
(8) Program completion certificate shall mean a certificate, by whatever name
called, issued by the University to the eligible students on completion of all the
prescribed requirements including fee, study and examinations for the approved
program.
(9) Registered student shall mean the eligible student who is duly registered with
the service provider under the scheme and paid the prescribed fee.
(10) Regulations shall mean the Alchemist (Special Placement Scheme) Regulations,
2005.
(11) Scheme shall mean the Special Placement Scheme 2005 offered by the
service provider under these Regulations.
(12) Service provider shall mean Alchemist HR Services Private Limited, a
company incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 with registered office at
Hyderabad and shall include all successor organizations.
(13) Specified date shall mean the date on which the program completion certificate
is issued to the eligible student by the University.
(14) The University shall mean the ICFAI University which represents the multi-
state network of Universities sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial
Analysts of India, in different states in India under respective legislations. Each
University in the network is a separate and independent legal entity.
(15) Validity Period shall mean a duration of 48 months from the effective date.
During which the eligible student is entitled to the benefits under the scheme.
A.0503. The scheme is available only for the benefit of the registered students on
optional basis. To clarify further, the eligible students are free to apply or not to apply
for the scheme.
A.0504. The approved programs are MS (Finance), MBA and MCA offered on a
distance learning basis by the University.
A. 0505. The registered students are entitled for the placement assistance under the
scheme during the validity period.
A. 0506. (1) Registration under the scheme comes into effect only when the service
provider confirms the agreement, subject to conditions, if any. (2) The conditions
referred above may include without limitation psychometric tests, skill development in
specified areas, group discussions, personal interviews, internships, and others. (3)
Complying with these and other conditions wherever specified by the service provider
may entail payment of additional fee, over and above the fee paid at the time of
registration.
A. 0507. Registration of any eligible student under the scheme shall not entitle any
person to any rights as a third party beneficiary.
A. 0508. (1) The registered student shall make an application in the prescribed form to
the service provider within thirty days from the specified date. (2) The service
provider agrees to provide placement assistance to the registered students within
three months from the receipt of completed application from the registered student.
A. 0509. The placement under the scheme can be provided by the service provider
anywhere in India and/or abroad with private sector, public sector, government and
quasi-government organizations, non-government organizations and others including
ICFAI.
A. 0510. The placement under the scheme will carry a minimum compensation of
Rs.20,000 per month on CTC basis for a minimum period of 12 months.
A. 0511. All obligations of the service provider under the scheme will cease if the
registered student does not complete the specified program during the validity period,
or fails to comply with conditions specified by the service provider or the registered
student fails to apply to the service provider within thirty days from the specified date
in the prescribed application form and/or declines the offer of employment, and/or does
not report for duty as per the appointment letter, and/or leaves the job within 12 months
and/or the employment is terminated by the employer on disciplinary grounds and/or
other reasons.
A. 0512. (1) The prescribed fee is Rs.3,300 and shall be payable by all eligible
students opting for the scheme. (2) The fee paid by the eligible student to the service
provider towards the registration will be neither refunded nor adjusted in any manner,
except when the agreement is not confirmed by the service provider.
A. 0513. The service provider has no obligation to render any services to the
registered students beyond the validity period. To clarify further no obligation shall
survive on the service provider beyond the validity period.
A. 0514. The registered student who could not complete the specified program during
the validity period may register de novo with the service provider subject to such
terms and conditions as may be specified by the service provider.
A. 0515. (1) The liability of the service provider towards the registered students is
limited only to the extent of the fee paid by them. To clarify further, the service provider
shall not be liable to the registered students for punitive, exemplary, special, indirect,
or consequential damages, including, without limitation, lost profits. (2) Neither the
employees nor the directors of the service provider are personally liable in any
manner to the registered students with regard to the scheme.
A. 0516. The registered student cannot assign this agreement or any part of thereof.
The service provider may, without necessity of the registered students consent,
assign its rights and obligations under this agreement to a successor organization.
A. 0517. The service provider shall not be liable for any delay or failure in performance
of any of its obligations under the agreement when such delay or failure arises from
events or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the service provider
(including, without limitation, acts of God, fire, flood, war, explosion, sabotage, terrorism,
embargo, civil commotion, acts or omissions of any government entity, bankruptcy,
liquidation, supplier delays, communications or power failure, equipment or software
malfunction, or labor disputes or regulatory and legislative changes, or court decisions).
A. 0518. The registered student agrees to indemnify, defend and hold the service
provider harmless from and against any loss, damage, liability and expense (including
reasonable attorneys fees and costs) arising out of any third party claim, action or
proceeding based directly or indirectly on the acts of omission or commission by him/
her or his/her agents, the breach or alleged breach or failure to comply with any
applicable laws or regulations.
A. 0519. The service provider reserves the right to revise, modify, alter, and change
the Regulations from time to time and such changes shall be binding on the registered
student.
A. 0520. The service provider, ICFAI and the University are separate and independent
legal entities. ICFAI and the University are not parties to this agreement, and hence
cannot be held responsible directly or indirectly for any acts of commission or
omission by the service provider or by the employees and the directors of the service
provider.
A. 0521. In case of any difficulty in interpretation of any clauses under these Regulations
the Board of Directors of the service provider reserves the right to issue necessary
clarifications and they shall be binding on the registered students.
A. 0522. The agreement shall be deemed to have been made in Hyderabad in the
State of Andhra Pradesh, India and shall be construed and enforced in accordance
with and the validity and performance hereof shall be governed by the laws of the
State of Andhra Pradesh, India without reference to principles of conflict of laws thereof.
Judicial proceedings regarding any matter arising under the terms of the agreement
shall be brought only in the relevant courts of Hyderabad, India and not elsewhere.
