QUESTION 1
What have I learnt about learning design from your my own MOOC experience?
FIRST PART OF THE QUESTION.

Characteristics
of authentic
tasks
Characteristic Description of use
Authentic activities have
real-world relevance
The activities in my mooc was
playing part of the real world
relevance because the topic was
Wave and Sounds. Most of the
information that we receive comes to
us in the form of waves. We rely on
waves to bring us music and TV. And
he used example of a Tsunami which
is called a tidal wave that has a very
large water wave and even if you stir
your tea in a container waves are
formed. And this conclude that my
mooc play a very big role in our life
and it was authentic.
Authentic activities are
ill-defined, requiring
students to define the
tasks and sub-tasks
needed to complete the
activity
In my mooc my lecture firstly he
introduces his topics generals and
real words used affecting the
meaning of physics. So In Physics in
order to understand the calculation
part you must understand the
theory part or background so
I can be able to make up an equation
in order to be able to solve the sub
task needed. Also to labels forces
that act on an object under the topics
called Motion in order to do the
calculations. Therefore the activities
are indeed ill-defined and requires
students to define the task and sub-
task needed to complete the activity

Authentic activities
comprise complex tasks
to be investigated by
students over a
sustained period of time
This part was not provide to us for
investigation or research question
that comprise complex task. So they
should be able to provide such
question so that they can be able to
see our level of understand of the
task not taught for that moment of
time. It was short because I watch
their video after I answer the
question part.
Authentic activities
provide the opportunity
for students to examine
the task from different
perspectives, using a
variety of resources
Yes evidence of the activities in my
mooc was providing different
resources used and opportunity of
students to examine the task
differently. Resources used are a
summary of PDF file which is related
to the video during teaching process,
links of information and word
document with information for each
module. All in all my mooc provide
different opportunity you can used
through the completing of course.
Authentic activities
provide the opportunity
This was evidence to my mooc why
because we have a discussing board
to collaborate whereby only us student bring up
questions and see some of peoples
views about our current topic during
that time. They must improve on
planning for group working and have
a folder where we can sign for our
self. Also I think he should have had
a page where we could reflect our
experiences after each given task.
Authentic activities
provide the opportunity
to reflect
In my mooc only the reflection that
was provided was only for the course
not for each module task given. Also
the discussion board was acting a bit
of reflection on the questions we as
student did not get it clear. So I can
say my mooc was lacking of the
opportunity of reflection activities.
Authentic activities are
seamlessly integrated
with assessment
My mooc consist of perfectly
consistent and they are in line or
integrated with the assessment. First
it was to generate the word
statement to equation later on it was
to calculate the variable third it to
generate mathematical equations
through word statement. All the
activities my mooc have been
created
are very relevant and helpful
to student because they give
us a broad understanding of the
concept of forces and it can also help
the student towards revising for
formal assessments.
Authentic activities
create polished products
valuable in their own
right rather than as
preparation for
something else
For my mooc, I have found that the
instructor is not just teaching you to
pass the assessment only, he is
grooming me on how to behaviour on
some of the application used by
physicians in order to be apply
physical and practical.
Authentic activities allow
competing solutions and
diversity of outcome
It was not evidence to my mooc
because the activities were design in
a manner of a multiple choices and
only one correct answer not in a
diversity of solution outcomes. So the
instructor should be able to design
question that are having many
possible answer so he can be able to
do feedback and see errors made by
students.

Second part of question 1

PARTNERS IN LEARNIG`S LEAP 21

1. COLLABORATION
Marks Reasons
1. Students are
required to work in
pairs or groups.
1
2. Students have
shared responsibility?
2

I graded my mooc tis mark
because it was my
responsibility to make sure
that the activity is completed
before the due date. And I
was expected to share my
knowledge and skills to some
of the questions I completed
3. Students make
substantive decisions
together?
3
4. Students make
Substantive decisions
together?
4
2. KNOWLEDGE CONSTRUCTION
1. Requires knowledge
construction?
1
2. Main
requirement
Is knowledge
construction?
2
3. Students are
required
To apply their
knowledge in a new
context?
3

My mooc is graded this mark
because some of the
question I completed need
knowledge construction,
some of the knowledge I have
learn in grade 10, 11 and 12
for calculating force of an
object in a horizontal plane
and inclined plane. Also I
have used knowledge of
direction of forces, if it is
positive which means to the
right in direction and negative
force means to the left when
doing calculation.
4. Learning activity is 4
Interdisciplinary?
3. REAL-WORLD PROBLEM SOLVING AND INOVATION
1. Main requirement
is problem solving?
1
2. Are students
working on a real-world
problem?
2

The activities in my mooc was
playing part of the real world
relevance because the topic
was Wave and Sounds. Most
of the information that we
receive comes to us in the
form of waves. We rely on
waves to bring us music and
TV. And he used example of
a Tsunami which is called a
tidal wave that has a very
large water wave and even if
you stir your tea in a
container waves are formed.
And this conclude that my
mooc play a very big role in
our life and it was authentic.
That why I am grading my
mooc this mark.
3. Requires
innovation?
3
4. USE OF ICT FOR LEARNING
1. Students have
the opportunity to use
ICT?
1
2. ICT supports
students knowledge
construction?
2
3. ICT is required
for constructing this
knowledge?
3

My mooc deserved this mark
because I was using a
computer for completing my
task even during the sign up
as well as the internet. For
example some of the
teaching resources were
downloaded and save to my
computer for further study.
Notifications were send via
our emails still I used a
computer to excess
everything regarding my
mooc course.
4. Students are
designers of an ICT
product?
4
5. SELF-REGULATION
1. Long-term
activity AND students
have learning goals and
success criteria in
advance?
1
2. Students plan
their own work?
2
3. Students have
opportunity to revise
work based on
feedback?
3

The reason why I am giving
my mooc course is because I
have structured the timeframe
of the mooc before closing
date. I was given one week to
complete one module but I
did that in two days time in
order to save time for my
study. Notification was given
before other module when to
start and be completed.
Feedback was provided in
each module completion and
extra explanation of the
correct answer even if it was
a multiple choice.
6. SKILLED COMMUNICATION DECISION
1. Requires
extended or multi-
model communication?
1
4. Students must
provide
supporting
evidence?
2
3. Students
communication
particular evidence?
3
4. Students
communicate to a
particular evidence?
4

Communication between me
and my mooc instructor was
good and in advanced. I
believe that skilled
communication was not bad
because I did complete all my
task in time and pass some of
the module with good marks.
I did what was expected for
me when been instructed by
my module instructor.
