PSR INFORMATION
FIELDS THAT MUST BE FILLED BY PERSON REQUESTING SEED
Fields that the person requesting the seed is required to fill out -
- initials of person requesting seed, date requested, date required, freight/transport details Please note that the date requested field must be filled
out and given a date and not just asap...this is a sore point with the processing guys trying to timetable and process orders
- delivery address (consign to: ) drop down menu, can be blanked if required and a different address entered below the merged field
- variety required
- seed treatment required drop down menu that hopefully covers all scenarios, or can be blanked by copying across a blank cell to enter the required treatment
- population per ha - established field population desired
- area (ha)
- number of viable seeds required - this will be calculated automatically by entering data into the "population per ha" and "area" fields; or can be replaced
by a number if required
- required buffer amount (kg for parent seed guys; % for the MIA and ORD) see "Buffer" box below for values to be used
- Production Use - enter the block for which the seed is required for, eg. Basic seed increase OR Hyola 404RR
- Roundup Ready Production (Y/N) - select "yes" or "no" from the drop-down list as to whether the seed requested is for Roundup Ready production,
note THIS INCLUDES conventional parent lines that are crossed with a Roundup Ready parent.
- any other specific requirements are to be listed in either of the comments fields as needed
Fields that arent required to be filled out by the person requesting the seed have been hidden to save confusion.
PSR NAMING SYSTEM
All PSR's will be allocated a reference number so this can be referred to in all communications to avoid any confusion.
Eg
- WFS003105 for Requested by, crop type, and date less the year,
- If WFS requests another sorghum PSR on the same date WFS0031052
- If an amendment is made, go to the following WFS0031052A,
As such, a separate PSR will be filled out for each crop type requested by a certain person on a certain date.
NUMBER OF VIABLE SEEDS
The number of viable seeds is calculated from the crop area, required established population and a buffer percentage.
This value is used in relation to the germ and seed count values of each respective seedlot in determing the weight allocated.
BUFFERS
For PSOFV - Where the total seedlot weight is < 100kg, buffer used will be 25%;
where seedlot weight > 100kg, buffer used will be 15%;
where seedlot weight > 1000kg, buffer used will be 10%
For MIA - Buffer used will be 10% unless otherwise arranged
For PARENT SEED - Buffer will be as designated by person requesting seed, as either a percentage or weight (please specify)
WEIGHT CALCULATIONS
A reminder that the formula used to calculate the initial weight of seed to be allocated from a given number of viable seeds
ordered takes into account an establishment factor.and a buffer amount will be allocated on top of this amount.
The formula used is for the initial weight allocation is as follows
Weight (kg) = (No. of viable seeds x 10000)
Seed count (seeds/kg) x Germ (%) x Emergence factor (%)
Emergence factor = 90 if the germ result is >90%
= 80 if the germ result is <85%
= 85 if the germ result falls within 85-90%
Note that germ % used in these calculations are most often the untreated sample germ, and the person
requesting the seed is responsible for contacting QC for a treated seed germ result
- initials of person requesting seed, date requested, date required, freight/transport details Please note that the date requested field must be filled
out and given a date and not just asap...this is a sore point with the processing guys trying to timetable and process orders
