REMINDERS
EAT WELL!
The eatwell plate, which is the UK
healthy eating guide, shows the
types and proportions of the food
groups that should be eaten and
is suitable for everyone over five
years of age.
FRUIT AND VEGETABLES
Go for at least 5 portions of fruit
and vegetables a day.
Eat fresh, dried, frozen, canned
and juiced varieties.
EAT BREAKFAST!
Eat breakfast every day.
List ten different foods which can be
eaten as part of a healthy breakfast.
Design a tasty breakfast.
DRINK UP!
Aim to drink 6-8 glasses of fluid a day.
Remember, more fluid may be
needed when the weather is hot
or after activity.
BREAD, RICE, POTATOES,
PASTA AND OTHER STARCHY
FOODS
Base meals on starchy foods.
Discover where and how starchy
foods grow, e.g. potatoes, wheat.
BE ACTIVE!
Be active for at least 60 minutes
every day.
Monitor activity every day sit less,

MILK AND DAIRY FOODS
Milk and dairy foods provide
calcium which is essential for
healthy teeth and bones.
Investigate how milk is produced
and processed.
GET COOKING!
Investigate different ingredients and
equipment be safe and hygienic.
Demonstrate a range of food
preparation and cooking skills.
MEAT, FISH, EGGS, BEANS
AND OTHER NON-DAIRY
SOURCES OF PROTEIN
Eat some foods from this group
every day, such as lean cuts of
meat (like beef, pork or lamb),
chicken, fish, eggs, beans
or lentils.
Eat two portions of fish a week
(one of which should be an oily
fish, e.g. salmon).
HEALTH FOR LIFE!
Enjoying a healthy diet and being
active can reduce the risk of health
problems now and later in life.
