The Center for Architecture is pleased to
present Open to the Public, a day-long
international symposium that examines the
multiple dimensions of public space,
featuring key note speaker Christine Brm,
Executive Director, Office of Parks and Open
Spaces, City of Zurich. Discussions will
explore how city authorities understand
public spaces and how their decisions reflect
the needs and experiences of their citizens
while exploring new strategies and innovative
practices for place making.

Human Rights Watch Film Festival presents
The Beekeeper by director Mano Khalil. The
film relates the touching story of Ibrahim
Gezer, a Kurdish beekeeper from southeast
Turkey, and his unusual experience of
integration into the seemingly conservative
heart of today's Switzerland. The Monday,

OLAF BREUNING
PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION

Public Art Fund presents a playful new
commission by Olaf Breuning entitled
Clouds installed at the southeast entrance to
Central Park. The artists largest public art
installation in the United States to date, the
work features six clouds rendered as childlike
drawings made of polished blue aluminum
towering nearly 35 feet above the plaza and
mounted on seemingly makeshift steel
supports.

The Swiss Touch in Landscape
Architecture provides an insight into the
extreme richness and variety of Swiss
landscape architecture and presents the
relevant works of renowned Swiss architects
such as Bernard Tschumi, Herzog & de
Meuron and that of engineer Jrg Conzett.
The exhibition was produced by Pro Helvetia,
curated by Michael Jakob, and made
possible by Presence Switzerland.

Multiple Exposures: Jewelry and
Photography is the first museum exhibition to
explore how contemporary jewelry artists
transform and add new meaning to the
pervasive images of this digital age. The
exhibition features works by more than 80
renowned artists from over 20 countries,
including Swiss artists: Esther Brinkmann,
Otto Kunzli, Bernhard Schobinger, and
Fabrice Schaefer.

FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN
A CONVERSATION

Deutsches Haus presents a conversation
about the film FINSTERWORLD (2013) with
the films director Frauke Finsterwalder and
the Swiss screenwriter and author Christian
Kracht. FINSTERWORLD is an ensemble
piece focusing on the lives of twelve main
characters and examines the themes of
loneliness, ostracism, and the process of
coming to terms with the past. In this
discussion, moderated by Nein.Quarterly's
Eric Jarosinski we will examine these themes
and the inspiration that led to the making of
the film.
