ii. Constant voltage charging

8. What are the factors to be considered for comparing magneto and coil ignition system?

UNIT- 3 TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS
1. What are the functions of clutch?
It is used for engage and disengage the engine power to gear box

2. What is the function of Synchromesh unit in a gear box?
It is used for change the gear wheel while shifting the fork to the next speed position

3. State the function of differential unit.
The main function of differential is change the wheel speed depends on the direction of
turning of vehicle

4. What are the functions of universal joint?
It is used to transmit the rotary action to the unparallel shaft

5. List out the functions of a propeller shaft.
Transmit the power from gear box to differential

6. Classify gear box.

UNIT- 4 STEERING, BRAKES AND SUSPENSION
1. Define chamber and castor angle
Camber angle: when the front of the vehicle is viewed, the angle between the centre line
of the tyre and the vertical line is called camber angle
Castor angle: tilting of king pin axis either forward or backward from the vertical line is
known as castor angle

2. What are cross ply and radial ply tyres?
In cross ply tyres, the piles are placed one over the other such that their cords make
angle from 40 to 45 to the axis
The radial ply tyre has plies which are extended in straight across from bead or at right
angles

3. Classify independent rear suspension system.
