There is nothing in a caterpillar
that suggests that it can become a butterfly
guru-EMESD-Module-1 3
Yet, it becomes a Butterfly
guru-EMESD-Module-1 4
The past of an exquisite sculpture
was a stone, which took numerous
blows from the chisel of a sculptor
The past of a flute in the hands of
maestro was a bamboo that
was seasoned in fire and with holes
drilled into it with hot iron rods
guru-EMESD-Module-1 5
So,
Your past is not equivalent to your future,

What you have been, and what you are now,
are inconsequential to what you can be

So,
Crucify your past and
Resurrect in to a new future

What is SWOT Analysis?
SWOT stands for
Strength
Weakness
Opportunities
Threats
Coined by the Military

your career in a way that takes best advantage of

What is SWOT Analysis?
Strengths and Weaknesses focus on internal
factors.
Opportunities and Threats focus on external
ones.
Strengths: Positives you can capitalise on, these
should be your 'key selling points.'
Weaknesses: Negative areas you need to improve
on.
Opportunities: Positive external conditions you
can take advantage of.
Threats: Negative external conditions you can't
control but can minimize.

SWOT-An Example in Business
Strengths:
We can respond very quickly as we have no
red tape, no need for higher management
approval, etc.
We can give really good customer care, as the
current small amount of work means we have
plenty of time to devote to customers
Our lead consultant has strong reputation
within the market
We can change direction quickly if our
approach isn't working
We have little overhead, so can offer good
value to customers.
Weaknesses:
Our company has no market presence or reputation
We have a small staff with a shallow skills base in many
areas
We are vulnerable to vital staff being sick, leaving, etc.
Our cash flow will be unreliable in the early stages

Opportunities:
Our business sector is expanding, with
many future opportunities for success
Our local council wants to encourage local
businesses with work where possible
Our competitors may be slow to adopt new
technologies

Threats:
Will developments in technology change this market
beyond our ability to adapt?
A small change in focus of a large competitor might
wipe out any market position we achieve.
The consultancy may therefore decide to specialize in
rapid response, good value services to local
businesses. Marketing would be in selected local
publications, to get the greatest possible market
presence for a set advertising budget. The consultancy
should keep up-to-date with changes in technology
where possible.

A start-up small consultancy business might draw up the following SWOT matrix:

your position?
Could any of your weaknesses seriously
threaten your job prospects?

LIVING WITH DISCIPLINE
28 guru-EMESD-Module-1
guru-EMESD-Module-1 29
Discipline is
sum of small tiny acts.
Resulting in Synergy

Discipline is sum of small tiny acts.
Discipline involves
Performing a number of small acts
As routine, leading to a habit
Which results in a Sum
which is much greater than their constituent parts
They are routinely performed, little acts which
Pile one on top of another and
Eventually produce an abundance of inner strength
When spider webs unite, they tie up a lion
