1. Issue Description
Since the RTWP problem is one of the main causes of Call drop in UMTS system, RTWP check
task had a huge impact on The network performance by decreasing the Call drop rate, decreasing
signaling caused by call drops, improing the U! capacity " throughput " improing oerall
network performance " #uality of Serice$

Sites with .igh load usually suffer from high RTWP, UMTS System is affected by intra0
system interference by UMTS users themseles 8Specially .SUP5 users9, and it becomes
ery clear when many users are located in the same area 8power competition9$

B. Hardware Installation problems:
This is common problem especially in new launched networks,
This may be caused by 5ntenna, :eeder, Connector, Triple;er or any element
between the R: unit and the antenna$
:or %etworks which already hae multi carriers, these hardware problems will be
easier to detect$
Usually if one sector has a hardware problem, so all the cells using any fre<uency
band will suffer from the same problem$
:or e;ample2 Cell =6 3(((*43(((&4 3((' are co0sector cells using deferent fre<uency
bands 8:*, :+, :39, =f all these cells suffers from the same RTWP problem, so it>s ery
clear and important indicator for hardware problem in that sector because usually it>s not
common to hae e;ternal interference on Three fre<uency bands in the same time for the
whole monitoring period$
?ne of the most common problems is the connector connection point as shown below2
This kind of .W faults can be detected directly by using @Site MasterA which show the

immediately showed a great improement$

C. External interference case:
Some cells suffered from unacceptable RTWP alues which was affecting the call drop rate, U!
capacity, .SUP5 throughput, " also .S6P5 retransmission rate,

The neighbor site also showed the same interference behaior2
1y checking the interfered sectors on map, it was clear that there is e;ternal interference source in
below area on the map$

This issue was reported to the operator, on :ield scans detected two Eammers related to one
uniersity in that area$ The solution proposed is to dismantle the interference source$
