Extreme sports (also called action sports, aggro sports, and adventure sports) is
a popular term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent
danger. These activities often involve speed, height, a high level of physical
exertion, and highly specialized gear.

landboarding o snowboard kite.
Parachuting, or skydiving, is the action sport
of exiting an aircraft and returning to Earth
with the aid of gravity, then slowing down
during the last part of the descent by using
a parachute. It may or may not involve a
certain amount of free-fall, a time during
which the parachute has not been deployed and
the body gradually accelerates to terminal
velocity.
Andre-Jacques Garnerin was the first to make successful descents using a canvas
canopy and small basket, tethered beneath a hot-air balloon. The first intentional
freefall jump with a ripcord-operated deployment is credited to Leslie Irvin in
1919.
The military developed parachuting technology as a way to save aircrews from
emergencies aboard balloons and aircraft in flight, and later as a way of delivering
soldiers to the battlefield. Early competitions date back to the 1930s, and it
became an international sport in 1952.
Parachuting is performed as a recreational activity and a competitive sport, as well
as for the deployment of military personnel Airborne forces and
occasionally forest firefighters.
Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving in
which a diver uses a self contained underwater
breathing apparatus (scuba) to
breathe underwater.
Unlike other modes of diving, which rely either
on breath-hold or on air pumped from the
surface, scuba divers carry their own source
of breathing gas, (usually compressed air),
allowing them greater freedom of movement
than with an air line ordiver's umbilical and
longer underwater endurance than breath-hold. Scuba equipment may be open

circuit, in which exhaled gas is exhausted to the surroundings, or closed or semi-
closed circuit, in which the breathing gas is scrubbed to removecarbon dioxide,
and the oxygen used is replenished from a supply of feed gas before being re-
breathed.
A scuba diver usually moves around underwater by using fins attached to the feet,
but external propulsion can be provided by a diver propulsion vehicle, or a sled
pulled from the surface.
Rafting or white water rafting is the
challenging recreational outdoor activity of
using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or
other bodies of water. This is often done
on white water or different degrees of rough
water, in order to thrill and excite the raft
passengers. The development of this activity as
a leisure sport has become popular since the
mid-1970s, evolving from individuals paddling 10 feet (3.0 m) rafts with double-
bladed paddles to multi-person rafts propelled by single-bladed paddles and
steered by a tour guide at the stern. It is considered an extreme sport, and can
be fatal
Surfing is a surface water sport in which the
wave rider, referred to as a surfer, rides on the
forward or deep face of a moving wave, which is
usually carrying the surfer towards the shore.
Waves suitable for surfing are primarily found
in the ocean, but can also be found in lakesor
in rivers in the form of a standing wave or tidal
bore. However, surfers can also utilize man-
made waves such as those from boat wakes and
the waves created in artificial wave pools.
The term surfing refers to the act of riding a wave, regardless of whether the
wave is ridden with a board or without a board, and regardless of the stance used
(goofy or regular stance)

Three major subdivisions within standing-up surfing are long boarding, short
boarding, and stand up paddle surfing (SUP), and these three have several major
differences, including the board design and length, the riding style, and the kind
of wave that is ridden.

Today extreme sports are practiced by people willing to risk on this adventure as
it involves a high risk of danger where athletes must take precautions to do it
properly without having an injury
We can say that especially extreme sports are a culture of life that does not
mean fashion, but a new way of living that involves a radical change in society for
acceptance in the public.
People who practice this kind of sports have a high purchasing power because of
the cost for these activities. These are people who love creative and
unconventional activities, seeking their satisfaction and personal pleasure often,
who love challenges and they feel a constant need for personal fulfillment, people
who love to feel physical , mental and emotional freedom .
There is no doubt that extreme sports meet the needs of such persons as, in
general line, require no fixed timetables or specific rules are imposed.
Around the world there are places where you can practice these sports.
Baths is the only city in Ecuador where due to the great biodiversity with
beautiful scenery can enjoy lots of adventure sports such as rafting , kayaking ,
canyoning , rock climbing , bungee jumping , horseback riding , hiking , mountain
biking , mountaineering, camping , paragliding and many more .
