Surprise, surprise happy people live their lives differently. They dont have different lives. They just do a
better job at living them than those who are unhappy.
Happiness is the result of subjective interpretation of perception. Of course, what we perceive isnt always
done so by choice life does throw things our way.
However, most of the time, we find ourselves in the situations we are in because of actions we took and
decisions we made. Its the way that you live your life that largely decides whether or not you will live happily.
They dont bother trying to make others like them mainly because
they dont care if theyre liked.
They like themselves and they are the only people they ever answer to. You could like them. You could hate
them. You could pay them no mind whatsoever doesnt make a difference to them.
They do what they do because they decided to do it. They arent trying to gain your approval or acceptance.
They dont want to be part of your team theyre a team of their own. They live their lives the way they see
fit and if you like them for it, great. If not then so be it.
When you ask them what they do, they dont give you a job title.
They tell you about the things they are doing with their lives the places they have visited and are planning
on visiting. The projects they are starting or part of. The problems they are working towards solving and the
communities they are working with to get those problems solved.
When you ask them what they do, they respond with what they do in their lives, not what work they do in
order to pay for the lives they want to one day be living. The real trick is that these individuals know better
than to wait to live the lives they want to live. You live life whether you accept or ignore the fact, how you live
it in the moment determines how happy you are.
When you ask them where they live, they say, At the moment
Happy people tend to move around a bit. Maybe its because traveling does the soul good. Maybe its
because the stagnancy of staying in one place their whole lives bores them.
Maybe its because they love meeting new people and having new experiences. Maybe its because they
havent found the right place to settle down just yet. You see, these individuals see the world as their home
no single country or city. If you ask them where they live, then theyd answer earth if they wouldnt come
off sounding highfalutin.
They have their own philosophies, their own religion they created and
live by.
You dont need a book to tell you how you ought to live your life. You can live your life by whatever
philosophy you wish as long as you found truths that satisfy you. They have a strong grasp of right and
wrong and are their own judges.
They see the world as their playhouse and their mind as the
conductor.
They dont believe there is a single way that the world is a single reality that exists. Instead, they believe
themselves to be the originators of their reality.
They believe they have full control over how they interpret what they perceive. They see the world the way
they choose to see it because they understand the power such a skill has. We all live in a reality of our own
construction. Some of us just construct our realities better than others.
They dont bother changing others, but instead learn how to deal with

them appropriately.
Devoting your energy to changing other people is a waste of it. People do change, but they only do so on

Also, this post is mostly oriented to the single life. When you are married you have
different priorities!

Possibly one of the dumbest collection of words I've ever read, ever. No hyperbole. I've observed
more wisdom in a fortune cookie.
Living this way is a fool's end.

Mostly good, but most of the happy people I know put their trust in God.

Is that because you only know people who believe in god? Keeping in mind that
theses lists are mainly bullshit, belief in a deity != happiness.

I follow all these and am very happy. I grew up in a trailer, put myself through school,
ended up homeless in the streets of St. Louis because I don't believe in the same
God as my family... Published a novel, started my own company, now live in the
mountains, have a happy relationship, two kids... Happy life, happy happy happy!
Make your own situation and never blame anyone for any situation you find yourself
in. My business partner stole almost 60 thousand dollars from me last year - dick
move. I'm still responsible for how things turn out!

Actually only one part of this is loosely true (evidenced based) live in the moment.... More or
less. As in think mindfully.
Positive psychology, ACT and the Science of Happiness doesn't support any other of these
claims.
Actually your whole magazine espouses a whole heap of garbage

Erik Esquerra - hehehe - I hear you. I have read article after article on this site, and I
am yet to read an article or opinion that follows up on some form of psychological
evidence. I believe that the online magazine is based in the USA. I am from Australia,
and here, the psychological community looks up to the US, as mainstream society
has taken up the idea of therapy, the insurance practices surrounding it, and with
that I at least thought - evidence based practice.
What I see, time and time again, is that the up and coming generations seem to
apply narrative that is spoken over and over again as fact. They take in the narrative
of one writer, spew forth that same or similar narrative over again, and it gets
repeated over and over, until it forms fact. There appears no appreciation for
evidence behind the spoken word.
"Elite Daily" signifies the spoken word of those that are in power, and the oppressed
seem to not have a voice. I thought if it at least drew on a body of research, then at
least people get a sense of "reality" rather than drivel.
I read Foucault and it's like the internet plays over and over again, what he observed
in his writings. Particularly on this site.
Ah well...

Jo-Anne, I was best friends with a PhD Clinical Psych who was very intelligent and
actually helped me realize and fix some of my own issues through our casual (not
professional) friendship at all. I listened, understood, argued and... listened again
and learned. It helped dramatically and many years later I recognize the changes
that I made because of her help & knowledge.
Once she moved into the "experienced" part of life her opinions went from the
academics of what she was learning to "I'm a PhD and you're not. Environment?
Politics? Science? Doesn't matter if I'm an expert in that field or not. I know more
than you because, oh yeah... I'm a PhD."
While she was the one who enlightened me to "evidence based," and was the most
authoritarian and believable opinion in my life, she also became the one to move
furthest from it! The unfortunate irony led to the end of our friendship. I had always
(and am still always) willing to admit guilt/fault/error if it can be proven. Eventually all
she did was use her intelligence and psych strategies to muscle her own agendas
from her opinions. Lost all credibility and hence our friendship.
I miss her and our original friendship. When they stray from "empirical" or even
"heavy trends through data" to "well, I'm just smarter than you" they become idiots
and lose all arguments by default.

This article is massively subjective. It is best to keep in mind while reading that this is
someone's opinion.

I think there is some truth to this, and yet it doesn't take into account issues of
