The M2000 SLS system is composed of N+1 servers, including 1 master server, N-
1 slave servers, and 1 standby server. It is also called "N:1 solution".
The master server provides public management services, the slave servers provide
feature management services such as performance management and
configuration management, and the standby server acts as the redundancy of the
master and slave servers.
Master/standby switchover or slave/standby switchover can be implemented in
the entire system through cluster monitoring (VCS).

Master server and slave servers: Each server of the M2000 SLS system is a
processing node, and each server needs to run the M2000 server software and
the database software.
Standby server: When the master server or any slave server is faulty, services can
be switched to the standby server.
Disk arrays: Disk arrays are used for storing data. The master server and each
slave server is configured with a disk array, respectively.
Optical switches: Optical switches connect disk arrays to servers through optical
fiber.
M2000 client: The M2000 client refers to a PC running the M2000 client software.

Consists of multiple servers for running services, and provides the management
capacity for super large networks
Has the capacity to centrally manage the entire network as a logical set of EMS
(element management system)
Supports the uniform northbound interface, and thus reduces the maintenance
cost
Monitors and manages the servers through the cluster software, and improves
the availability of software and hardware by automatically discovering software
and hardware faults
Supports the master/standby switchover and slave/standby switchover, and thus
improves the availability of element management services
Supports smooth network expansion (without affecting the existing services) by
connecting new NEs to new slave servers

The M2000 SLS system supports manual switchover and automatic failover.
When operating and maintaining the master or a slave server, users can manually
switch the services to the standby server.
The duration of service interruption is shortened when users manually switch the
services to the standby server before operating and maintaining the original
master or slave server.
When any of the following faults occurs on the master server or a slave server,
the system performs a failover to switch services to the standby server.
CPU fault
Memory fault
Disk access failure
Fault on the main board
Communication disconnection between the host Ethernet adapter and the
LAN switch
Fault on the operating system
Database fault
The M2000 server application is faulty and cannot be rectified.
If the following faults occur on the network, no failover is triggered.
Single Ethernet port or Ethernet cable disconnection
Single heartbeat cable disconnection
Single Ethernet switch fault
Single disk fault in the disk array

M2000 server software is composed of multiple functional modules. The modules
communicate with each other and communicate with the relevant modules on M2000
clients through the CORBA software bus. M2000 server software provides interfaces
connecting to the NMS through the NMI module, and provides interfaces connecting to
the adaptation software of various NEs through the public adaptation module.
In addition, some modules access the databases on the M2000 servers and make
database operations through the database interfaces. Only the M2000 server managing
the UMTS and GSM networks have software management, network monitoring, and
resource monitoring modules.

In the network management, the M2000 server must process the following data:
performance measurement data, alarm data, configuration data, network element
(NE) logs, NE software and patches, and NE backup data.
Among these data, the performance data, accounting for 80% of the total, is the
key element for determining the data processing capability of the system.
