#urrent Integrated #ircuits ha(e a hard/are
complexit* of millions of de(ices and also
incorporate se(eral la*ers of soft/are. 'his
has led to the coining of the term 0%*stem on
#hip1 or %2# to descri!e such s*stems. 'he
design process is highl* automated /ith a
ma3or part of the design flo/ !eing
implemented using Electronic Design
"utomation -ED". soft/are tools. 'his
segregation of the design and the fa!rication
phases has led to the emergence of design
hu!s in contries li&e India /hich are not
e4uipped /ith state of the art foundries. 'his
session /ill focus on gi(ing an o(er(ie/ of
+,%I Design flo/ and outline the different
phases in(ol(ed in the design$ (erification and
testing of +,%I chips. "n insight into the role of
