volcanic rock. When the 3ron A/e rolled into steel .akin/ the knife truly ca.e into
its o$n. #very culture developed its o$n desi/ns to .eet specific purposes. #ven
here in A.erica% Ji. &o$ie6s fa.ous knife desi/n is still one of the .ost popular
of fi/htin/ knives. "epal is a s.all country nestled in the 7i.alayas $ith a
northern 0order $ith China and southern 0order $ith 3ndia. 3t is the ho.e of the

as these loyal professional soldiers do not /ive these a$ay unless they have
a0solute respect for you. 3 then decided that 3 $anted a full sized .ilitary issue

The handle is 0uffalo horn and the sca00ard is 0uffalo hide. With the t$o s.aller
0lades% one is a s.all knife and the other is actually a 0lade sharpener. A nu.0er

for our standard .2acp cartrid/e. &oth of these .odified hand/uns carried the
desi/nation of 1A1*. The only pro0le. $as that the .2acp cartrid/e $as ri.less
and revolvers re:uire a ri..ed cartrid/e case to allo$ the. to 0e e5tracted after
firin/ in order to reload. The solution $as in/eniously si.ple 0y the use of
sta.ped half(.oon ;later full .oon< sprin/ clips that held the cartrid/es to/ether
for loadin/ and unloadin/ and resulted in a .uch faster reload than doin/ it one
cartrid/e at a ti.e.
3n 1AE*% &razil ordered '%!!! S.ith and Wesson M1A1*s for their .ilitary. The
e5a.ple sho$n is one and is in .y collection. 3 put 7oa/e /rips on it to ta.e the
recoil a 0it and the holster is a reproduction of the WW' issue holster ;they $ere
still 0ein/ used 0y various rear area units even then.< The ori/inal $ood /rips $ere
thin $alnut and unco.forta0le to shoot $ith.
7alf(.oon clips
&oth the Colt and S.ith and Wesson 1A1*s are solid revolvers and actually .ake
very /ood self(defense hand/uns if you can find one in /ood condition. So.e
co.panies still .ake the .2 auto ri. cartrid/e $hich $as a ri..ed version of
the .2acp and allo$s the. to 0e used in the revolvers $ithout needin/ the clips.
When 0uyin/ this or any other surplus used revolver it is al$ays a /ood idea to
have a :ualified /uns.ith check the. out 0efore firin/. Fevolver cylinders have to
0e ti.ed correctly to line up $ith the 0arrel for each shot and shootin/ a revolver
that doesn6t could 0e a very unpleasant surprise.
3 had .ine re0lued and the tri//er $orked on so it has a s.ooth sin/le and dou0le
action tri//er pull.
A/ain% 3 consider .ine a functional 0ack up defense hand/un and it is e5tre.ely
accurate $ith jacketed 0ullets% 0ut do to the rather shallo$ riflin/ it does not do
$ell $ith cast lead projectiles. The si/hts are fi5ed 0ut .ine shoots point of ai.
point of i.pact at 'yds. =ne of the serious dra$0acks to these old /uns is that
they have not 0een .ade for a very lon/ ti.e and spare parts are pro0le.atic to
find. 3 understand that the S.ith and Wesson shop $ill no lon/er $ork on the.
ho$ever .ore .odern versions in SGWs classic hand/un line see. to 0e availa0le
and nu.erous .anufacturers .ake accessories such as holsters and spare clip
carriers.
3 truly enjoy this old $arhorse and 3 keep it ready to /o in the event that serious
social $ork is re:uired and Mr. +lock is not handy% or in those places $here
revolvers see. .ore Cpolitically correctD.
