Products and solutions for tomorrow’s industry

The course is set!

Under the banner “Making Things Right,” Siemens provides a comprehensive overview of its portfolio catering to industry customers at Hannover Messe 2014. The focus is on numerous innovations that help to make production even more efficient and flexible in the future.

T o remain competitive in the manufacturing industry in the future as well as the present, it is imperative to have strong partners – partners, who set the right course in

terms of technology. Siemens offers integrated solutions that perfectly link all stages of the industrial value chain. With consistent technologies such as Totally Integrated Au- tomation (TIA) or Integrated Drive Systems (IDS), the work- flow can be improved, enhancing the productivity and effi- ciency of the companies served. All of this results in greater competitiveness.

Highly integrated solutions for more efficiency

Be it in the area of automation or drive technology, innova- tive products are the motor continuously driving the integra- tion and flexibility of solutions for the customers’ benefit. TIA Portal V13 is the main focus of the presentation at Hanno- ver Messe. The new version opens up Security Integrated for Simatic S7-1200 and Safety Integrated for Simatic S7-1500. Thus, the new fail-safe S7-1518F CPU, the most powerful from the Simatic S7 1500 line, also benefits from efficient engineering. In the area of micro automation, there is the completely updated LOGO! 8 that is able to communicate with all Simatic S7 systems. The micro controller also stands out with its simplified handling and even more reduced space requirements, with more digital and analog outputs. The HMI portfolio was extended by new Basic Panels of the second generation, an entry-level industry rack PC, and multi- touch devices for industrial environments.

Furthermore, at its booth in Hall 9, Siemens presents Sinamics G110M, a distributed, motor-integrated inverter for geared motors that saves space and reduces installation ef- fort. This makes the Simogear / Sinamics G110M combination perfectly suited for a great variety of conveyor technology applications. In addition, Siemens presents a series of plan- etary gear units of up to 80 kNm consisting of a Flender Stan- dard Industry Planetary (SIP) gear unit, a Simogear geared motor, and the new Sinamics G110M inverter with signifi- cantly reduced weight and installation space that offers man- ifold extension possibilities.

Flexible solutions save time and costs

For enhanced flexibility in industrial communications, the new MM992-2VD media module offers a way to easily and economically migrate to Profinet with existing two-wire cabling. The versatile, compact Scalance XM-400 Industrial Ethernet switch has a modular design that makes it possible to connect up to 24 network devices, such as Simatic con- trollers, in its full version. The new series of 3VA molded case circuit breakers are es- pecially space-saving and protect buildings and industrial plants from damage and prevent downtimes. The highly vari- able 3VA system offers optimum solutions for all applica- tions and saves the customer time and costs by supporting every step from the planning stage to full operation.

TIA Portal V13

Even more flexible engineering

Thanks to the improved and expanded Version 13 of the engineering framework TIA Portal, expenditures for engineering can be further reduced. It integrates additional fail-safe controllers as well as new motor-integrated frequency inverters and the Simotion motion control system.

D ue to the ever-increasing size and complexity of automation solutions, engineering costs are

climbing. A uniform, consistent oper- ating concept for controllers, HMI, and drives, as well as an intuitive user in- terface and data consistency, enable

TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) Portal V13 to reduce engineering time by up to 30% – which also significantly lowers costs.

More functions and tools

Version 13 of TIA Portal has improved features in the diagnostics concept, know-how protection, and synchro- nized teamwork for larger projects, among others. For instance, errors are now automatically detected on distrib- uted I/O devices. Planning engineers can work independently from one an- other on parts of the project and jointly access a controller online. Further en- gineering tools such as the Simatic WinCC V13 SCADA software have been integrated into the uniform working environment. All tools – Simatic Step 7 V13 for Simatic controllers, Simatic

Step 7 Safety Advanced V13 for safety applications, or Sinamics Startdrive V13 for the Sinamics G inverter product range – work in perfect and intuitive interplay within the framework. The software architecture has been de- signed for highest efficiency and is suitable for both beginners and expe- rienced users.

Extended product range

The hardware has also been extended with new components. The Simatic S7-1217C controllers with new and im- proved firmware version 4.0 as well as the fail-safe, high-end Simatic S7-1518F controller complement the product range with particularly high-perform- ing CPUs with extensive functionality. The new generation of Simatic Basic Panels has been perfectly tailored to

simple HMI applications. The new components of the Integrated Drive Systems (IDS) concept include the Sinamics G110M frequency inverter, which together with Simogear geared motors makes for maximum applica- tion efficiency. The preconfiguration of the inverter, together with the motor and engineering in TIA Portal, makes commissioning easier and faster. By integrating the Simotion motion control system, TIA Portal can now also be used to efficiently commission, con- figure, and engineer Simotion compo- nents. Hardware and software are merged in a consistent editor, enabling intuitive and full-graphics configura- tion as well as powerful diagnostics of the configured and networked compo-

nents.

VD module for Scalance

Ethernet via two-wire cabling? Sure!

Plant owners using Profibus or other two-wire cabling in their plants and wanting to switch to Profinet are often faced with high installation costs. The VD module offers a new option for migration.

T he MM992-2VD module is a new dual-port media mod-

ule for all modular switches in the Scalance X-300

product line (XR-300/X308-2M) and the Scalance

S627-2M security module. The two-wire cable is connected

with an RJ45 connector that is plugged into the new two- wire network module.

Industrial Ethernet communication using existing cabling

The highlight of the new module? During VD (variable dis- tance) operation, Industrial Ethernet communication is made possible via non-Ethernet-specific cabling (Profibus DP or other two-wire cabling) without having to change over to other transmission methods such as DSL, for example. De- pending on the quality of the line, distances of up to 500 m at a rate of 100 Mbps or 1,000 m at a rate of 10 Mbps can be covered. Furthermore, the VD module allows for an exten- sion of the standard Industrial Ethernet cable length at 100 Mbps in order to cover even greater distances. This means that remote users at a distance of more than 100 m do not necessarily need to be integrated into the plant’s net- work using optical fibers but can be integrated by simply using copper cables.

Secure data transmission guaranteed

Security does not suffer, either. It is possible to connect the VD media module to the most recent modular version of the Scalance S product line, Scalance S627-2M, thus en- suring secure communication in two-wire lines as well. With the firewall and VPN security functions, Scalance S627-2M can filter data communication and avoid unauthorized access as well as safely authenticate the transmitted data and protect from manipulation and espionage using en- cryption.

Installation cost savings

Using the VD media module reduces costs when installing a plant, since the already installed copper cables can be used, thus avoiding high cable-laying expenses. In this case, the module can be used as a standard Industrial Ethernet or VD interface. All in all, the new media module offers the possi- bility to migrate existing Profibus systems to Profinet – with- out having to lay new cables!

Import function for safety parameters

T he Safety Evaluation Tool (SET) is a TÜV-certified online tool for the quick and safe evaluation of a machine’s

safety functions. The operator receives a standards-conforming report that can be integrated into the documentation as proof of safety. Siemens is the first sup- plier to implement a neutral data interface for importing safety parameters of other manufacturers by using an XML format in accordance with VDMA (Verband Deut- scher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, the German engineering federation) specifi- cations. The VDMA specification 66413, “Functional safety – universal data format for safety-related values of components or parts of control systems,” describes a standardized electronic exchange format for the safety-relevant parameters of automation compo- nents. Simotics motors for converter operation

A perfect team

The motor plays a crucial role in an efficient, integrated drive system. The new Simotics GP and Simotics SD motors from the VSD10 line have been optimized for frequency converter operation with the frequency converters of the Sinamics series. Together, they form a perfectly coordinated drive system.

Together, they form a perfectly coordinated drive system. S iemens is introducing motors for converter operation

S iemens is introducing motors for converter operation that are based on 1LE1 asynchronous motors. The mo- tors from the VSD10 line are available with aluminum

housing (Simotics GP) as well as with gray cast-iron housing (Simotics SD) and feature an output range of between 2.2 and 200 kW. As a key component of Integrated Drive Sys- tems (IDS), the motors have been optimized for operation with Sinamics converters. By perfectly coordinating the components, it is possible to create a cost-effective overall system that offers exceptionally high reliability and avail- ability.

Broad range of applications

Using motor converter systems in applications with pumps, fans, and compressors reduces power consumption by up to 60%. Because the motors have been optimally adapted for converter operation, it is possible to minimize the motor’s power loss and consequently increase efficiency. The motors

themselves have special features – for example, temperature sensors and isolated bearings for high shaft heights. These features contribute to extending the service life and also the availability of the drive components. With its speed control, the integrated system displays its advantages, especially when used in the partial-load operating range. The result is an accordingly energy-efficient operation.

Easy commissioning

The integrated solution also shows its strengths in com- missioning. The motor code printed on the nameplate is entered on the user panel of the Sinamics converter and delivers preconfigured parameterization settings. This en- ables quick, error-free commissioning. The drive system can also be easily and simply integrated into TIA Portal with Profibus.

Sinamics Perfect Harmony GH150

Even more versatility in the medium-voltage range

T he new Sinamics Perfect Harmony GH150 medium- voltage converter further develops the proven cell- based Perfect Harmony technology and offers high

availability as well as maximum flexibility for easy systems integration. Thanks to its high versatility, especially with re- gard to the selection of transformers, customer and appli- cation requirements can be met even better. The medium-voltage converter itself can easily be inte- grated into any application. It is suitable for retrofits as well as for new projects where a separate transformer with high input voltages and various cooling methods (i.e. oil or dry transformers) can also be employed. Higher flexibility makes plant planning easier and thereby also reduces the total cost

of ownership as well as the operating costs. The cell-bypass feature prevents unplanned downtimes and enables maintenance measures to be carried out at a scheduled time. The converter’s almost sinusoidal output voltage minimizes the stress on the motor and ensures that the applications can run smoothly and efficiently. Therefore, even applications with long cable lengths between the motor and the converter can be implemented without out- put filter.

Liquid-cooled modules for Sinamics S120

Efficient cooling method

L iquid-cooled Active Interface Modules (AIMs) and Active Line Modules (ALMs) are now also available for Sinamics S120 low-voltage converters. These modules cover a

voltage range between 500 and 690 V, with an output of 1,700 kW. The liquid-cooled solution transfers almost all the heat of the modules to the cooling liquid. Room air-condition- ing can therefore be significantly decreased and the associated costs of installation, maintenance, and operation reduced. Because no fans are necessary, the power consumption of the modules is lower as well. Sinamics S120 ALMs are available with outputs of 380 kW, 630 kW, and 900 kW at 380–480 V and of 1,100 kW at 500–690 V. They are able to feed the energy back into the grid, thus offering significant cost savings. AIMs for the grid connection form a functional unit with the ALMs. The AIMs filter the harmonics to a large degree and ensure that there is very little circuit feedback. The new modules contain a liq- uid-cooled throttle, a liquid-cooled filter module, and fasten- ers. By connecting up to four identical modules in parallel,

Siemens offers an all-in-one solution for the drive system to be seamlessly integrated into any application, its automation component, and the entire systems lifecycle – for greater efficiency, reliability, and productivity.

Tool identification with Simatic Ident

Transparency in tool management

Simatic Ident (RFID systems in the HF range and code-reading systems) offers a wide range of advantages for tool management, from storage to the machine: fast and reliable identification eliminates error sources and enables optimal use of the tool stock.

S imatic Ident provides for the high- est level of transparency and en- ables the tool stock to be utilized

to optimal effect through precise re- cording of the inventory and localiza- tion of tools during operation. Tools with RFID transponders or DMC codes can clearly be identified by an RFID reader or code reader when they are re- moved from their storage location. The data are then transmitted to the high- er-level tool management system and checked back into the store once the order has been executed. A UHF tran- sponder on the tool trolley makes it possible to easily localize the trolley as it moves through UHF gates between the storage location and the various manufacturing areas.

Unique identification marking

During the tool assembly process, Simatic Ident guarantees the unique and durable identification of the as-

sembled tool. This is done by placing an RFID transponder in a designated loca- tion on the tool holder, and identifying the tool to be mounted via a DMC. The data are then stored on the tool carri- er’s RFID transponder. The RFID tran- sponder of the mounted tool is able to read both unique IDs and plain-lan- guage text markings. Simatic Ident is also used during pre- setting and measuring of the tool, which checks the various tool parame- ters, such as radius, length, and so on. The data are stored directly on the RFID transponder on the tool.

Rapid tool change

Additionally, Simatic Ident provides for a correct machining process in the ma- chine tool and enables the automatic transmission of the tool data to the CNC controller. This guarantees rapid, error- free tool changes. For this, the tool is moved past the RFID antenna after it

has been inserted in the tool magazine, and the tool data stored on the RFID transponder are automatically read and transmitted to the CNC controller. Fi- nally, the remaining tool life, as deter- mined by the CNC controller, is stored directly on the transponder. In addition to the small MDS D117 and MDS D127 transponders, the new solution also includes the compact sta- tionary Simatic RF250R reader and the mobile Simatic RF310M handheld reader, which are both designed to be connected to external antennas, such as the new exceptionally small ANT8 or the ANT12. Alternatively, with Simatic RF210R, Siemens also offers a tried and tested reader with an integrated an- tenna in M18 construction as well as an additional transponder for tool identification, the MDS D421 tool “pill” corresponding to DIN 69873 specifi- cations.

Rugged and powerful

Simatic handheld reader MV320 / MV325 Rugged and powerful T he new Simatic MV320 and Simatic

T he new Simatic MV320 and Simatic MV325 handheld reading systems are designed for the mobile reading of two-dimensional (2-D) data matrix codes and one-

dimensional (1-D) bar codes at a distance of up to 375 mm. The integrated image processing functions and lighting technologies make it possible to read codes on different surfaces. The Simatic MV320 wired handheld reading system is an entry-level device that enables communication with the host PC as well as integration into the application, thanks to USB and RS232 interfaces. The Simatic MV325 wireless handheld reading system communicates via Bluetooth with a charging station, which is connected with the host via USB. If the radio link is interrupted, the read results are temporarily stored on the mobile device if this function has been activated. As soon as the connection to the char- ging station has been reestablished, the read results are automatically transmitted. This operating mode is called “batch mode.” Both units are suitable for high-contrast la- bels (paper labels and adhesive labels) and, depending on the application, for codes with medium (laser-etched in metal) to low (needle-punched in metal) contrast. The de- vices are configured by reading the data matrix codes in- cluded in the delivery.

Simocode pro earth-fault module
Simocode pro earth-fault module

Cost-effective monitoring

The new 3UF7510-1AA00-0 Siemens earth-fault module for the Simocode pro motor management system monitors earth faults in conjunction with 3UL23 residual current trans- formers. This makes it possible to detect errors before the plant stands still.

E xternal earth-fault monitoring is

used either in power grids earthed

with high alternating current resis-

tance or wherever it is necessary to precisely capture data on the earth fault current, for example for condition monitoring. The new 3UF7510-1AA00-0 earth- fault module, combined with devices from the Simocode pro V series and 3UL23 residual current transformers, provides a solution with high measur- ing accuracy and a large setting range. In addition to the tripping threshold, a warning threshold can also be parame- terized, allowing for early error notifi- cation. The connection to the associ- ated 3UL23 residual current transfor-

mer is permanently checked for broken wires and short circuits. This ensures continuous monitoring, making man- ual tests redundant. Depending on the cable diameter used, the residual cur- rent transformer is available with six different outlet openings. The combination of an earth-fault module and a 3UL23 residual current transformer enables early detection of any deterioration of the isolation in the maintenance station, thus reduc- ing downtime. Furthermore, this op- tion provides a solution for all lead- throughs at a more attractive price than before.

U sing the Siplus CMS2000 condi- tion monitoring system, mechani- cal components such as motors,

generators, pumps, and fans can be monitored and analyzed by collecting data on vibrations, rotational speed, and temperature. This makes it possible to identify defects in machines even before a malfunction arises, meaning that the error can be eliminated in a timely man- ner and maintenance operations can be planned. Up to 16 standard IEPE vi- bration sensors can be connected per CMS2000. In addition to vibrations, it is also possible to measure temperature, rotational speed, and analog signals such as pressure. With the integrated di- agnostic software, the user can analyze data from the bearing and vibrations monitor, perform a frequency-selective analysis of the collected data, or carry out a trend analysis. Visualization and parameterization are performed in a simple web browser, with no additional software required, grant- ing the service engineers easy on-site and remote access. With the new HTML

websites for mobile applications, the results of the analysis can be viewed as a plain-text notification on any mobile device, for example, a tablet or smart- phone. There is therefore no need for additional visualization equipment, giving the maintenance staff a good overview of the mechanics on-site. The maintenance personnel can immediately plan or implement the required mainte- nance operations. The Siplus CMS2000 condition moni- toring system has been integrated into a motor condition monitoring box to mon- itor large Siemens drives. The vibrations and temperatures of the motor bearings are measured during operation. Critical

parameters can be monitored and fore- seeable problems counteracted, based on trend curves, even as they emerge. The motor condition monitoring box was designed for online monitoring. The system can be installed directly onto the motor, either on an existing motor in the field or ex works, when ordering a new motor. As part of the service port- folio, certified Siemens condition moni- toring experts monitor the customer’s machine and provide notification if the condition of the equipment deteriorates and countermeasures need to be imple- mented.
