ended at Sidewalks Bar & Grill,
West Union with stops
inbetween at Stone Hill, Randal
and Eagle Golf & Grill,
Eagle Bend for a total of
135 miles of riding.
The toys received from the
riders and sponsors are given to
Sauk Centre and Osakis
communities at Christmas
time. In addition to the toys, a
cash donation of $1000 is split

Matt Dirkes. He will join the bank as a loan
ofcer. The announcement was made on
Friday June 13th, by Loren J. Beste, President
of the bank. Matt comes to the First State
Bank with nearly a decade of banking
experience working primarily in agricultural
and consumer lending.
Most recently Matt was employed
at the Freeport State Bank where he was
responsible for managing an agricultural and
consumer loan portfolio.
Before joining Freeport State Bank, Matt
was employed as a Loan Associate for Central
MN Federal Credit Union where he worked in
the agricultural/commercial loan department.
Matt has a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Management with a Minor in Accounting
from Saint Johns University.
Matt is active in our community and has been coaching youth hockey and
baseball for several years.
Matt is the son of Clarence and Linda Dirkes of Sauk Centre.

author Pearl S. Buck visited
Sinclair Lewiss boyhood home in
Sauk Centre she asked,
'Why should the fery, honest,
impassioned spirit have come of
such a house.
Walking through the simple
story-and-a-half, olive green
home, you can see why she said
that. Lewiss father, Dr. Edwin J.
Lewis, owned the sober, modest
home in contrast to the other house
on the block owned by Dr. Julian
Dubois, a larger two-story with
a large porch, freplace and large
carriage house. Yet the home would
play a key role in the life of one of
Americas most important authors.

Recipe Corner
Preparation
In a medium non-stick skillet, brown ground beef and garlic over medium heat; (break beef mixture
up into smaller chunks with a spoon). Drain fat and stir in 1/2 cup of the salsa; set aside.
Spread 1/3 cup of rice on center of a tortilla, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Scatter about 2 tablespoons
of beans and 1 1/2 tablespoons of corn over rice. Spread 1/3 cup of the beef mixture and 1/4 cup of
the cheese over corn. Top with 2 teaspoons of the salsa and a few pieces of green onion. Fold in two
opposite edges of tortilla one inch each and roll up. Place, seam side down, on microwave safe dish.
Repeat with remaining tortillas.
Place burritos in a microwave oven and heat 1 minute or until heated through. Serve with
remaining salsa.
