Rocky Mountain Hoops Basketball Camp Edmonton, Jasper, & Canmore, Alberta
Camp Coordinator & Coach May 2011-present

Rocky Mountain Hoops is a prestigious basketball camp currently in its 20
th
year. This camp
brings athletes ages 8-18 from all over Alberta to train intensively for a week alongside talented
coaches with collegiate & professional basketball experience. My role at RMH is to organize
each days schedule, including a tournament that runs in the evenings throughout the week, to
manage campers both during registration and during their stay, to act as a liaison between
campers, their parents, and the camp owners and to assist in most of the training sessions where
coaches need support. In this position I must lead not only the campers, but other coaches as I
structure where each and every person is at all times throughout the operation of camp. I am in
charge of leading coaches and ensuring assignments were outlined each day and ready for
delivery to all athletes.

Young Life Canada Edmonton, Alberta
Volunteer Leader June 2012 present

Young Life Canada is a Christian organization for junior and senior high students who form
relationships with the volunteer leaders. We work directly alongside parents and schools:
tutoring, teaching, visiting, coaching, etc. In addition we hold weekly meetings, both in the
smaller and larger group settings. Throughout the year we also take kids to camps where there
are many opportunities to continue to further their development. Through Young Life I have
formed and developed friendships with over a dozen high school girls and have been a part of
their lives as theyve grown over the past three years. This has allowed me to learn to connect
with teens on a personal level, while still being a mentor and guide for them. While at camp I am
their main supervisor and leader, as I help to guide them through daily activities such as games,
zip lining, water sports etc. I also lead nightly discussions with the girls as a group about the day
and things they have heard/learned, and have a one on one talk with each girl at least once during
camp to see where they are at with their family, friends, faith and life in general. During the year
I lead the girls to participate in our bi weekly events where they are singing songs, watching and
participating in skits and listening attentively to a leader as they speak.

Delux Burger Bar Edmonton, Alberta
Server, Manager September 2013-present

Delux Burger Bar is a restaurant which belongs to the Century Hospitality Group, a local
expanding company. I started at Delux (West Edmonton Mall) in September 2013 as a server,
despite having almost no previous experience in the restaurant industry. Within a year of my first
serving job I had moved up to management and that is a testament to my capacity for leadership.
My current position means that I am to train new staff, monitor current staffs successes and
struggles and to assist with scheduling. This job has allowed me to challenge myself to motivate
and manage staff who are my age, or sometimes even older, and also my friends. It has taught
me to achieve professional and personal relationships at the same time. I have learned to manage
a number of different peoples personalities, needs, and wants while also doing my own job and
ensuring my customers are happy.

TEACHI NG EXPERI ENCE
Edmonton Public School Board Edmonton, Alberta
Spruce Avenue Junior High February 2014 April 2014

Spruce Avenue is an inner city junior high school. The school has a variety of different
programs, including segregated BLA, ELL, and Literacy/Opportunity. As well, there is a high
population of FNMI students and a strong FNMI support system. Spruce Avenue is a small
school with 13 accredited teaching staff; everyone is supportive and encourages collaboration.
Despite being very inner city, the environment in the school with students and parents is
extremely friendly and familial. While at Spruce Avenue during my advanced field experience, I
taught regular Grade 7, 8, and 9 Language Arts classes with 27, 28, and 37 students respectively.
As well, I taught a regular Science 7 class with 24 students. During this time I was responsible
for all teaching responsibilities including lesson and unit planning, generating assignments and
assessments, as well as monitoring classroom and extracurricular behavior.

In January 2014 I played
a critical role in the opening of our new location in Magrath and worked closely with our
corporate chef and majority owner. In July 2014 I was promoted to a management position and I
am still in that role. Within a year of my first serving job I had moved up to management and
that is a testament to my work ethic, commitment to growth and improvement, and capacity for
leadership. Dealing with customer complaints has also taught me to face a certain style of
confrontation in a professional manner, knowing when to bend to please my guests and when to
stand my ground in defense of my restaurant, employer, and staff.
