AIM(S) of LESSON
The main aim(s) of this lesson will be:
- To explain the informal letter layout
- To write an informal letter
- To use specific expressions for starting and closing a letter
METHODS: conversation, game, multiple choice, individual work, pair work.

AIDS/ MATERIALS: students book, teachers book, blackboard.

STUDENTS' PROBLEMS
I anticipate that the following may cause problems: students might feel nervous and find
difficulty in expressing their point of view. They may have forgotten the difference between
formal and informal.

ACTIVITY DESIGN: 5 stages design => 5 activities.

they have to mime when
their colleague enters.

out, and gives the class
the word happy. After

and guesses the word,

letter they write to their
friends.

T announces the topic of
the lesson and writes it on
the blackboard. Ss write
it too in their notebooks.

the correct item from
each category and match
it with the correct place
on the letter layout. Ss do

list the expressions on
exercise 2/page 13, by

complete the task.

4. PRACTICE AND
PRODUCTION


When the Ss finish the
list, T asks them to write
an informal letter using
the cues from the
paragraph plan given by
the textbook. Ss read the
paragraph plan and give
examples for a few cues.
Then, they write the
informal letter and send
it to one of their
colleagues. The addressed
colleague reads the letter
out loud. (2-3 letters)
