Ha’Misparim La’Debarim
The Numbers of the Words
by Craig Peters

The Name of hwhy Reveals

the Messiah—the Word Made Flesh
a The Name of the Most High is not only His Memorial to all generations,1 it contains a
prophetic message of salvation through His Son, eSwhy the Messiah. The Name of hwhy, as
we will see, reveals the Word made flesh:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word
was Elohim. 2 The same was in the beginning with Elohim. 3 All things were made
by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made … 14 And the Word
was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His splendor – the splendor
as of the only begotten of the Father – full of favor and truth … 16 And of His
fullness have we all received, and favor upon favor.
John 1:1-3,14,16
The Word being made flesh, His becoming a man, and the double favor2 He embodied—all
these things are revealed in the Name of hwhy, the Creator of all things. The misparim value3
for the enduring Memorial Name of hwhy is 26, and just below, we see how this number is
obtained from each of its letters:
← ← ←

26 = (5) h + (6) w + (5) h + (10) y = hwhy = YHWH

In the present study, our focus will not be as much on the number 26 as it will be on the
meaning of the numbers and the letters which compose the Creator’s Great Name.
( y ) YOHD = 10
( h ) HE 4 = 5
( w ) WAW = 6
( h ) HE = 5
Revealed in the number values of these letters is a clear message of the Son of hwhy and His
mission:
eSwhy the Messiah – the Word made flesh – not only came in the
Father’s Name, but He was the full embodiment of the Name
since the Spirit was given to Him without measure! 5

Exodus 3:14-15

(i.e., the favor upon favor)
3
“Misparim” is the transliteration of the Hebrew word (Myrpom) meaning “numbers”. This series of articles has
continued to show how, if properly understood, the number values of Hebrew words provide us with greater revelations
of the Most High’s sovereignty and foreknowledge; and greatly magnifying the Name of hwhy in this manner, we believe
misparim further provides us with the Almighty’s very own commentary on His Word.
4
Pronounced “hāy.”
5
John 3:34
1
The Messiah eSwhy said,
I have come in My Father’s Name
and you do not receive Me …
John 5:43, ISRV
Throughout this study, we will remarkable evidence which shows just how fully the Messiah
came in the Father’s Name. As Yochanan the Immerser indicated, the Spirit was given to the
Messiah without measure.6 And the emissary Sha’ul would later declare this very same
thing; it pleased the Father for all the fullness to dwell in His Son:7
… For in Him, all the fullness was pleased to dwell.
Colossians 1:19
And since the Name of hwhy and His Spirit are synonymous, the fullness of the Name, hwhy,
abode upon the Messiah of Yisrael; consequently, the Messiah’s life and teachings further
revealed the greatness of the Name to the people of the Most High.

The Prophetic Message in the Name of hwhy

We see a wonderful, prophetic message in the Name: The Name of hwhy was prophetic of
His Son’s coming. The Name of hwhy was prophetic of the Messiah’s essence, His life, His
mission, and His now ongoing ministry. To better understand this significant revelation, we
will consider what each of the four letters in the Name represent numerically. In so doing, we
will see the 10-5-6-5 is a picture of the two-fold favor of hwhy given by the life, death,
resurrection, and ascension of the Messiah.
( y ) YOHD = 10
The YOHD ( y ) has a misparim value of 10 and so, represents the Ten Words, commonly
called “The Ten Commandments.”8 Since the Ten Commandments encapsulate all of the
Word of hwhy, they are a condensed version of all the Torah.
( h ) HE = 5
The HE ( h ) has a misparim value of 5. In general, the number five represents the grace/favor
of hwhy. We have a blessed example of this in the life of Abraham: Dr. Bullinger notes how
the HE ( h ) is the letter which hwhy added to Abram’s name to make it “Abraham:”
← ← ←
Abraham = Mhrba << h + << Mrba = Abram
Add HE ( h ) to Abram
Understanding this name change to also correspond with the heavenly bestowal of great
favor, Mr. Bullinger then goes to some length to indicate the many significant things which
occurred in the patriarch’s life in years that were multiples of five relative to his age. We
concur that this was another indication of the great favor which permeated Abraham’s life:

6
John 3:34 > 1:32
7
Colossians 1:19
8
Exodus 20:1-17
2
• Age 50: Abraham’s first call, when he was in Ur of the Chaldees.9
• Age 75: Abraham’s second call, when he was directed to go forth from Haran.10
• Age 100: Yitschak (Isaac) was born.11
• Age 105: Yitschak was named “the seed.” 12
• Age 140: Yitschak was married to Rivkah (Rebekah).13
• Age 150: Abraham marries Keturah (also the year of Shem’s death).14
• Age 160: Ya’acob’s birth.15
• Age 175: Abraham dies.16
So the number 5 and the letter HE ( h ) are certainly indicative of the favor of hwhy.
As far as the first letter HE ( h ), the first five in the Name, representing the grace/favor of
hwhy in giving the Torah to Yisrael, a number of texts show us that it was the favor of hwhy
upon the nation by which He blessed them with the giving of the Law:
5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances,
even as hwhy my Elohim commanded me, that you should do so in
the midst of the land where you go in to possess it. 6 Keep, therefore,
and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight
of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, “Surely this great
nation is a wise and understanding people.” 7 For what great nation is there,
that has an elohim so near to them, as hwhy our Elohim is whenever we call
upon Him? 8 And what great nation is there, that has statutes and ordinances
so righteous as all this Torah, which I set before you this day?
Deuteronomy 4:5-8
Shelemo/Solomon also taught that the Torah emanates with the great favor of hwhy:
8 My son, hear the Instruction of your father,
and forsake not the Torah of your mother:
9 For they will be an ornament of favor to your
head, and chains about your neck.
Proverbs 1:8-9
21 My son, let not them depart from your eyes:
keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22 So they shall
be life to your soul, and favor to your neck.
Proverbs 3:21-22
And when receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai, Mosheh (Moses) said this of the favor which
hwhy shown to him as well as to all Yisrael:

12 And Mosheh said to hwhy, Behold, You say to me, “Bring up this people,”
but You do not let me know whom You will send with me; and You have said,
“I know you by name, and you have also found favor in My eyes.” 13 And now,
if indeed I have found favor in Your eyes, make me now to know Your way, that
I may know You, that I may find favor in Your eyes; and consider that this nation
is Your people. 14 And He said, “My Presence shall go, and I will give you rest.
15 And he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go, bring us not up from here.
16 And how shall it be known then that I have found favor in Your eyes—I and
Your people? Is it not by Your going with us? So shall we be distinguished, I
and Your people, from every people that is on the face of the earth.” 17 And
hwhy said to Mosheh, “I will do this thing also that you have said; for
you have found favor in My eyes, and I know you by name.”
Exodus 33:12-17
That favor is associated with the Ten Words (Ten Commandments) is yet more evident when
we see that the number ten is composed of two fives (5 + 5 = 10). Some scholars even insist
that the Two Tables of Stone contained five commandments each. And while the prophet
Mosheh was receiving the Torah, can anyone describe the great favor associated with his
having been kept alive for eighty (80) straight days without food or water?17
Finally, in addition to all of the above, when the Spirit inspired Mosheh to set forth the Torah,
it was given in five distinct books:
1. B’raysheet/Genesis
2. Shemot/Exodus
3. Wayyikra/Leviticus
4. Bemidbar/Numbers
5. Debarim/Deuteronomy
Corresponding with this great favor – which was revealed through the infinite knowledge and
wisdom inherent in the Torah18 – King David structured the Tehillim/Psalms in five distinct
books:
• Book One: The B’raysheet/Genesis Book: Psalms 1 – 41
• Book Two: The Shemot/Exodus Book: Psalms 42 – 72
• Book Three: The Wayyikra/Leviticus Book: Psalms 73 – 89
• Book Four: The Bemidbar/Numbers Book: Psalms 90 – 106
• Book Five: The Debarim/Deuteronomy Book: Psalms 107 – 150
All those who have read the Psalms, and who have been richly blessed, comforted,
strengthened by its many relevant messages, can also give witness to the favor which comes
forth from their inspired pages. Yet the Psalms were meditations upon the Torah!19 There
was immense, unspeakable favor associated with these great revelations and awe-inspiring
workings of the Most High. Even so, as great as that favor was, it was still not the kind of
favor which would bring about Spirit-filled obedience to the Torah. That favor was still
forthcoming, and apart from that favor, the Torah would never be complete.

( w ) WAW = 6
Six is the number of man. Negatively, we often see this number appearing in places where it
connotes things which are not good:
• Six digits were seen on each hand and on each foot of one of the giants.20
• Sixes were associated with the idolatrous image of Nebuchadnezzar, which he set forth for
all the peoples to worship: The statue was sixty cubits high and six cubits wide.21
• The world-famous six hundred sixty-six (666) is scripturally associated with the not-so-
famous pomp22 and abject lawlessness23 of the anti-Messiah.
However, being the number of man, six is not always set forth in a negative light; this number
also has positive connotations:
• Man was made on the Sixth Day.24
• Man is to labor six days and rest on the Seventh. These six days of work are both
required25 and laudable.26
• For six years the Land was to be sown and harvested, by man, and then given rest in the
Seventh Year.27
• The six-fold blessing of hwhy was bestowed by man (the priest) upon men (the children of
Yisrael):28
1. hwhy blesses us.
2. He keeps/guards us.
3. hwhy shines His Face upon us.
4. He favors us.
5. hwhy lifts His Face upon us.
6. And He puts/places peace upon us.
This was the commanded blessing,29 of which David wrote in the 42nd Tehillah:
hwhy will command His kindness in the daytime,
and His song shall be with me in the night:30
a prayer to the El of my life.
Psalm 42:8

2Samuel 21:20-21
21
Daniel 3:1

(expressing the moral ignorance of a beast: Psalm 49:12,20, 2Peter 2:12, Jude 1:10)
23

Numbers 6:22-23

Bullinger indicates this Scripture contains a complex ellipsis which implies one is to be repeated in the other:
“His lovingkindness [and His song] in the daytime; and in the night
His song [and His lovingkindness] shall be with me.”
(See the margin notes on Psalm 42:8 in the Companion Bible, page 761.)
5
We further note this commanded blessing put the Name/Spirit upon the children of Yisrael:
So shall they put My Name upon the
sons of Yisrael, and I, I will bless them.
Numbers 6:27
By giving His Spirit to those who obey Him,31 the Messiah, the High Priest of Yisrael,
continues to put this blessing on those who love His Name:32
And I looked, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Tziyon,
and with Him were a hundred and forty-four thousand, having
the Name of His Father written on their foreheads.33
Revelation 14:1
• In the Ten Words, or Ten Commandments, the Sixth Commandment34 begins those edicts
which concern man’s relationship with his fellow man.35
• We also see a six-fold blessing of the Word of hwhy (commanded to man36 for all 1000 of
his generations37):
1. The Torah of hwhy is perfect restoring/converting/turning the soul.
2. The Testimony of hwhy is sure, making wise the simple.
3. The Statutes of hwhy are right, rejoicing the heart.
4. The Commandment of hwhy is pure, enlightening the eyes.
5. The Fear of hwhy is clean, enduring to the Age.
6. The Judgments of hwhy are true, and righteous together.
But this is only the six-fold potential in the Word of hwhy. Those who hear the Word of hwhy
and keep it, will then enter into His rest—the realm of spiritual perfection/completion (7):38
7. Moreover by them is Your servant warned.
Those who heed this warning, and live accordingly,39 are then further set apart, and they will
enter into the Great Reward of the Resurrection (8):40
8. And in keeping of them, there is great reward.
31
Acts 5:32, Hebrews 5:9
32
Psalm 69:36, 91:14, 119:132, Isaiah 56:6, Hebrews 6:10
33
This is yet more evidence of the Name-Spirit connection: Those who are sealed with Ruach ha’Qodesh (the Set Apart
Spirit) have the seal of the Living Elohim in their foreheads. Ephesians 1:13-14, Revelation 7:1-3, 14:1, 22:4 The priests
who despise and reject His Name, however, will lose this inheritance. Malachi 1:6 - 2:3
34
The Sixth Commandment is: “You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13
35
Some will argue this begins with the Fifth Commandment (“Honor your father and your mother,” …). However, each
of the first five commandments is a reflection on our love for hwhy. In Yisrael, parents were given the charge of teaching
their children the Torah of hwhy. Deuteronomy 4:9-10, 6:6-9, Proverbs 1:8-9, 3:1-4, Malachi 4:4-6 Consequently, how a
youngster fared with Elohim’s command to honor the Torah-imparting parents was a direct reflection on the child’s love
for hwhy. The parents were clearly intended to bridge the gap between a child’s love for the Creator and a child’s love
for his or her fellow man. These truths are no less serious, and no less valid, in the New Covenant. Thus, it behooves
parents to be honorable.

• We then have the six-fold blessing of the Spirit of hwhy prophesied to be on the Ultimate
Man, the Messiah:41
And the Spirit of hwhy will rest upon Him:
1. The Spirit of wisdom
2. and understanding.
3. The Spirit of counsel
4. and might.
5. The Spirit of knowledge
6. and the fear of hwhy.
The prophet Isaiah continues to speak of the Messiah in this great prophecy:
3 And His delight will be in the fear of hwhy; and He will not judge
after the sight of His eyes,42 neither reprove after the hearing of His ears;
4 but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and reprove with equity
the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His
mouth,43 and with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.44
Isaiah 11:3-4
• Six being the number of man, we see that it is also prophetic of the Ultimate Man, the
Messiah. And this is our understanding of the WAW ( w ), the six, in the Name of hwhy. The
Man who was literally prophesied of in the very letters of the Name of hwhy, would later
come in that Name 45 as the full embodiment of the Father 46 and His Father’s Name:47
He was Elohim revealed in the flesh,48 and His ministry was/is to continually reveal the
greatness of the Name.

( h ) HE = 5
Because the Messiah was the Word made flesh, He was also the physical embodiment (w)
of the 10 (y) as well as the first 5 (h). The Spirit-Name connection is seen throughout the
Scriptures: His Name and His Spirit/Presence are synonymous. And this brings us to the
second HE (h), the last letter in the Name of hwhy:
The Messiah had the fullness of favor from hwhy:
He had the fullness of the Spirit.
We see this second HE ( h ) representing the favor upon the Messiah, by the Spirit of hwhy
upon Him,49 as He actively and completely fulfilled the Torah. And in His having walked in
absolute righteousness, eSwhy now makes the first and second portion of favor in the Name

available to His followers: This is why Yochanan/John could write of the double favor which
was upon the Savior: Because of the fullness of the Spirit upon Him, He can now transfer the
“favor upon favor” – the double favor revealed in the Name – to us in the Spirit:
And out of His completeness we all did receive,
and favour upon favour ...
John 1:16, ISRV
For He whom Elohim has sent speaks the Words of Elohim,
for Elohim does not give the Spirit by measure.
John 3:34, ISRV
This writer believes the “favor upon favor,” in the text of John, speaks of the two HEs ( h )
which compose half of the Qadosh Name and which surround “the Man” ( w ): in the Name of
hwhy, we see this favor surrounds the Messiah: h-w-h-y. The Messiah was strengthened by
the favor of the Most High:
Let Your hand be upon the Man of Your
right hand, upon the Son of Man whom You
have made strong for Yourself.
Psalm 80:17 50
The Messiah was surrounded with the favor of hwhy, and this is the very picture we are
provided in the Name of hwhy:

h w h
Favor The Favor
Messiah:
Surrounded With Favor

Hence, verse 12 of Tehillah 5 was ultimately prophetic of the Righteous One,51 the Messiah:
For You, hwhy, will bless the righteous;52
with favor You will surround him as with a shield.
Psalm 5:12
The Name Reveals the Messiah
Since all the Torah and Prophets speak of the Son,53 should we, then, be surprised to see
the Memorial Name also reveals the Savior’s greatness and mission? We believe the main
picture-story revealed in the Name of hwhy is the greatest story ever told! Putting all this
together, we will now step through each Hebrew letter in the Name of hwhy:

50
Just as the Messiah was surrounded and strengthened by the favor of Elohim, this same favor is made available to
strengthen and establish the hearts of all those who draw near to hwhy through Him. Hebrews 13:9, 4:15-16, 2:17-18
51
Acts 3:14

See Psalm 45:2, another text which shows the Most High blessed His Messiah—the One who was fairer than the sons
of Adam.

8
The Name of hwhy Reveals the Messiah
10 ( y ): The Ten Words were given as Yisrael was delivered from Mitsrayim to further
reveal/magnify the Name of hwhy.54
5 ( h ): This giving of the Torah revealed His great favor towards Yisrael.55 But as immense
and overwhelming as this favor was, it was still not the kind of favor which was needed to
bring about obedience within all Yisrael.
6 ( w ): Thus, enters the Messiah: The Man who would mediate between Elohim and man
was needed. He was needed, and He was given!56
For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator
between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah eSwhy.
1Timothy 2:5
Because He was Elohim, and because He was the Word made flesh, the Messiah was the
embodiment of the Torah ( y , 10) and the immense favor ( h , 5) associated with the infinite
wisdom57 which the Law was intended to convey to Yisrael58 and through Yisrael to the
world.59 And it is interesting to note that the Messiah – the One who came as a man (w) and
who abounded with favor so as to make obedience to the Torah possible in the Spirit – will
cite Psalm 6 (w) when He casts aside those lawless ones who refuse to heed His words:
And then I will profess to them, “I never knew you:
depart from Me, you that work lawlessness.”
Matthew 7:23/Psalm 6:8
In the Messiah, then, we have the 10-5-6 ( w - h - y ):
The Savior of Yisrael was the Torah (y) made flesh, and He embodied
all the wisdom and understanding of the Word and its inherent favor (h);
all of this has now been revealed in the Ultimate Man (w), the Messiah.
But we must also have the last five, the last letter HE ( h ), the second blessing of favor,
which completes the Name.
5 ( h ): Having been given the Spirit without measure,60 the Messiah was the embodiment of
double favor: The favor expressed/taught by hwhy throughout the Torah as well as the favor
needed to uphold its precepts via the Spirit of the Most High. We see the second HE ( h ) as
representing the fullness of the Spirit which made such obedience possible. eSwhy was the
sinless, Unblemished Lamb of hwhy.61 Walking by the Spirit, the Messiah upheld all of the
Torah.62 But the story does not end there: To all those who believe on His Name, eSwhy
gives the power to become the sons of Elohim.63 Hence, the Messiah’s favor, now imparted

to us,64 did/does what the Torah was unable to do, standing alone, as it was.65 This explains
how eSwhy fulfilled/completed the Torah:66 He fulfilled the Torah by making it possible for
His followers to uphold the very ordinances which Yisrael of old failed to keep. And this is
the very Torah which was prophesied to be written on the hearts and minds of all His people
in the New Covenant!67
The simplest form of this prophetic message in the Name of hwhy may be conveyed in this
manner:
( y ) THE TORAH/WORD
( h ) THE FAVOR
( w ) BECAME MAN
( h ) ABOUNDING WITH FAVOR68
The Word – and the favor it embodies – became a Man; and His life was filled with favor in
the Spirit. The favor ( h ) that surrounds the Messiah (as seen in the Name: h >w < h ),
this favor upon favor was also spoken of by the emissary Sha’ul:
But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift.
For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did
the favor of Elohim, and the gift by the favor of the one Man,
eSwhy the Messiah, abound unto the many.
Romans 5:15
The entire story revealed in the Name shows us how the Messiah continues to further
manifest the Father’s Name to all those who believe:
And I have made known to them Your Name, and will make it known;
that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them and I in them.
John 17:26
In Summary: Saved By His Life
The Messiah now intercedes for each of His people as ha’Coheyn ha’Gadol, the Great
Priest. As He intercedes for us in the Name of hwhy, the Son is revealed in/through our
lives.69 And when the Son of Elohim is revealed in us, the Name of hwhy is revealed to our
fellow believers as well as to the world. Trusting in His ministry – His continual intercession
at the Right Hand of the Father – is the anchor on which all New Covenant believers must
continually depend. Apart from Him, we can do nothing,70 but if we are continually drawing
near to hwhy through the Messiah,71 if we are continually appropriating His righteousness 72

the Name of hwhy—the Name which He has bestowed upon the Son.75 This is the Name
which teaches us the immense favor of hwhy not only abounded toward His Son, but that this
same favor is now available to those who continually seek Him:
But these are written, that you might believe that
eSwhy is the Messiah, the Son of Elohim; and that
believing you might have life through His Name.
John 20:31
Part of truly trusting in the Messiah’s finished work is trusting in that great favor which
surrounded/surrounds eSwhy and which He now makes available to us. hwhy made the Son
of Man strong for Himself,76 so that His Messiah could “[condemn] sin in the flesh”77 and
give His people the power to walk in uprightness. And the great favor made available to us
through the Son (as revealed in the Name) gives so much meaning to the truth of the 9th
Tehillah:
And they that know Your Name will put their trust in You,
for You, hwhy, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 9:10
We must absolutely trust in the favor upon favor which abounded toward the Messiah and
which the Most High now makes available to us, through Him, in the Spirit. It is through
prayer, through drawing near to hwhy in the Spirit, that we truly begin to grow in the favor
and knowledge of the Son:
… “but grow in the favor and knowledge of our
Sovereign and Savior, eSwhy the Messiah.”
2Peter 3:18
As we grow in the amount of favor which we can seek and find before the Throne of His
Presence, the Word of Elohim will increasingly become flesh within us;78 in the light of His
Presence, He will write His Torah upon our hearts and minds;79 and hwhy will be magnified

An Excellent Translation of the Scriptures

The Institute for Scripture Research is an organization of Messianic believers based in South
Africa. They have published an excellent version of the Word of hwhy which they have
called, “The Scriptures.” “ISRV” is an abbreviation which readers will have seen at various
locations in the study. ISRV is an acronym which means: “Institute for Scripture Research
Version.” Thus, it is our abbreviation/acronym for the Institute’s translation of the Scriptures.
This outstanding translation fulfills the Word of hwhy to Mosheh by restoring His Qadosh
Name – the Name which hwhy declared to be His unchanging Memorial across an immense
time span of 1000 generations. Exodus 3:14-15, Deuteronomy 7:9. For those wishing to
make further inquiry, and to possibly order this translation, the website address for ISR is:
