Karnataka has a number of top medical colleges where students from all parts of India seek

admission. SDM Medical College Dharwad is one of the top colleges in Karnataka and is
located at Manjushreenagar, between Hubli and Dharwad, about 6 km from Dharwad. The
college is close to Navalur Railway station and there are public transports as well as private

under SDM Educational Society and is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health

SDM Medical College admission is available for those students who have passed PUC or 10+2
examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together and 50% marks in
English. There is a concession for SC/ST. Candidates are selected based on their performance in
KCET or COMEDK examination, which is the entrance examination for engineering and
medicine. It is also necessary that the student should complete 17 years of age on or before 31

of December in the year in which he/she gets admission. There are General seats as well as seats
for NRI candidates. A small percentage of the seats are reserved under the management quota.
The duration of the course for MBBS is for five and a half years, of which last one year is for
internship.
SDM Medical College Dharwad is spread over an area of 52 acres and is set in a peaceful and
serene surroundings. The campus is lush green with grass, gardens and tall trees which make the
place cool and airy. Various departments found here are departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry,
Pathology, Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Community
Medicine. Other than MBBS degree, other courses offered here are Master of Surgery in
Anatomy, Doctor of Medicine in Physiology, Doctor of Medicine in Pathology and Doctor of
Medicine in Microbiology. All these are three year courses. The faculty here consists of a team
of highly qualified and dedicated professors and they are always ready to help the students with
any problem.

There are separate hostels for girls and boys, provided with all facilities. The laboratories are

central library which is open from 8.00 am to 12.00 midnight from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to
8.00 pm on Saturdays and 9.00 am to 12.00 midnight on Sundays and public holidays. It has a
fine collection of books related to medicine and other associated branches. The hospital here
provides extra training to the MBBS students and offers them a lot of practical knowledge other
than theoretical knowledge.
