The following is equipment I have chosen to film for a high budget drama
production. The website I have chosen is films cape media.com, this is because
thee website offers high end professional equipment that they provide for
producers internationally and locally. The website has had very good reviews and a
good satisfaction rate as well as a wide variety for equipment designed specifically
for high production value.

Camera & Camera equipment
The first item I chose was an ALEXA XT B+W Video Camera, I decided to buy four of
these as they are cheap as well as reliable, they cost just under 3,200.00 witch
make it just under average with most video cameras on the market, therefore I
believe the camera is a good price allowing me to purchase more than one.
I chose these because during my research I discovered that there are many good
reviews about the camera, an overall satisfaction rate from there previous buyers.
The camera is good quality and is very professional for the size and price. I will
also purchase a Cannon Digital SLR Camera for panoramic or time-lapse shots on
the side, these are not too expensive, they can often cost around 320 but for
more professional ones can go up to 7,000.

The second Item I chose to buy was KOWA PROMINAR ANAMORPHIC SET Lenses.
They cost around 34,700.00, making them quite an expensive tool in the whole

budget range, but I believe the lenses are the best option for the directors needs
and are less expensive than others I had found in my research.
The set of lenses provides all the necessary variety that a professional film requires
for shot types, it provides all the right lenses needed for basic and advanced shots.
These lenses are individually designed for the camera I have chosen; they are both
companys that are similar and progress together in the industry makes the camera
and lenses. The set includes over 30 lenses ideal for the filming angles.

Sound Recording Equipment
The third item was a RODE VideoMic- On Camera Microphone. I chose to buy this
item because although the camera includes a microphone that is recording while
filming, I wanted a separate microphone that records in closer quality. This means I
can use the camera whilst a separate microphone is recording audio anything else I
want on a boom pole. I can also record Foley without having to use the camera,
and then edit the sounds later. The item costs around 130, so I can afford to buy
one for each of the cameras. RODE make reliable audio recording equipment so I
decided to purchase from them. They do a professional job of the recording and
help with the overall quality of the recording. I will also purchase a Shure Wireless
Radio Microphone System for communication between crews; they will fit in the
budget as they are often cheap costing around 40 for each person who requires
one.

Sound Recording Equipment
To go with the microphone I needed a boom pole with reliability and extending
functions so decided to buy two Rycote G5 Boom Pole Sound Recording Poles. This
is because this brand of boom pole are used by many professionals when recording
sound in film and television, practically news reports and they are often satisfied

with the quality of the product as well as the durably. They are a very good price as
they provide a durable product, they cost around 170. There will need to more
than one so I chose this product as it is cheap but effective in its purpose. Also buy
a couple of Tascam Portable Field Audio Recorders for longer-range recording.
This product does not cost that much as it is often only a temperate device for
checking, they cost around 80 allowing me to purchase multiple devices for the
purposes.

I decided to buy four Mantona Dolomit Video Camera Tripods, the tripod is slightly
more expensive than regular tripods but the brand is mainstream for reality and
function. They cost 370 each and I will require one for each of my four cameras, I
believe although they are slightly more expensive, they will provide me with the
professional look required for the film. I needed four for each one of the cameras; I
chose to do this because each camera may need to be operating at a different time
to save overall time. One of the most important factors of professional looking
film sets are lighting, I chose to buy two CAME Video/Studio Film Broadcast
Lighting sets. This is because I read reviews from previous buyers who claimed the
product was very effective in reaching there needs at a professional level. The
product gives a high level look to the set and is a distinct influence on the quality
of the video. The lights are mainly for indoor use, they can used to light up sets
inside such as background lighting. The indoor and outdoor lighting will cost over
8,500.00 making them quite expensive but I believe that it is important for the
film to spend its budget on lighting as this product will define how the outcome of
the final film appears to the viewers.

I also needed to purchase spotlights for outdoor purposes, so I found the Fresnel
Tungsten Video Spot Light Kit Lighting; this set is a good price for the quality of its
goods. It includes all the requirements for high budget films and television
programs, during my research I came across many brands but this one seemed to
satisfy the users, this is because it has easy functions and can be set to suite the
directors desires. The product can be easily adjusted and transported throughout
the outdoor locations making it easier o the filming crew.

The next item I purchased were some Lastolite Collapsible Backgrounds, these are
mainly used for indoor use only. The cost around 130 saving the budget
expenses on locations. They can often save the production crew in time and money
as travelling costs are lowered. The item was picked because mainly to reduce the
costs, therefore spending higher prices on the budget of other important
equipment. I also chose a Track Dolly Slider Rail Shooting Stabilizer; this was to
increase the professionalism of the shooting footage. I also purchased a Kesslar
filming crane for the higher shots that the dolly is not capable of reaching, in
addition to this it will give a wider variety of shots to the viewers and therefore see,
higher quality or higher budget to the audience. The cost around 90 but can also
be rented for around 18 per day, I will choose to purchase the product as I will
require various shots and need the equipment to be varied.

The editing is one of the most important elements for the final turn out of the film;
the editing can make all the difference in a clip or piece. The first editing
equipment I chose was Final Cut Pro Editing Softwhere, I believe this softwhere is
the easiest tool for making the final film appear more professional to the viewers
as well as suiting the needs of the director. This is because the softwhere is easy to
use by the editing crew but is complex and provides all the necessary tools to
tweak the shots to perfection. The software costs around 475 to purchase, this is
a very good price for softwares as most can go up to 600, making this a good
tool for editing and a good overall price.

Adding to the editing I chose to purchase an Apple IMac 27 Desktop Computer. I
believe that this is the best way to edit the clips as it provides the editor with easy
functions and smooth editing providers, as well as a clear view of each clip in detail
to spot any faults in the shot. The iMac is known for quality control and reliability,
therefore I believe that it will work well with the softwhere I had chosen, to allow
efficient editing to the editor. The final editing gadget I decided to purchase was
aLogicKeyboard Apple Editing Keyboard. I believe that this tool will provide a
quicker and simpler way for the editors to access tools they require to suite the
needs of the editing they have. The computer costs around 1,700.00 to purchase
and will provide the editing with all the basic and advanced tools for improving the
film. This is the most expensive of its kind, but still affordable so it can be
purchased.

I will then purchase a AVOLITES PEARL Lighting Desk & Audio Mixer, as I believe it
is important that the audio is mixed right to help with professionalism and to
assure all continuity for the viewers watching the clip. To make sure the visual side
of it is stable I will purchase an AVOLITES Directing & Shots Video Desk/Mixer, this
is also so the editing team can check every sound and clip to make sure it all fits
together or add in any additional requirements that the director seeks. These two
are both made by the same company, I chose to use them as I believe they will be
perfect for completing the tasks required by the director. The product has been
used in many professional movies and TV shows so I believe it is reliable and just
the right products for the final edit. The editing equipment and desks will cost
over 17,000.00 making them the second most expensive item on the list of
equipment, nevertheless it is important that the continuity and editing is one of
the most crucial steps in the whole process in producing an effective looking film.

Conclusion
Thus to conclude, I am very pleased the equipment I have chosen will fully satisfy
my needs in the production as they are very good quality and I am under my
budget limit, excluding other expenses such as location and staff cost. I believe
the equipment will provide a professional looking drama as an outcome for the
final film. The final cost is 80,570.00; therefore I believe that I have stuck well
within my budget with 169,430.00 left over. I believe that although I havent
spent my entire budget, I have found the best tools for producing the final product
and giving the film a professional look.
