Recherchez donc avec ardeur [] les plus grands. Et maintenant, je vais vous indiquer le
chemin par excellence.
Jaurais beau parler toutes les langues des hommes et des anges, si je nai pas la charit,
sil me manque lamour, je ne suis quun cuivre qui rsonne, une cymbale retentissante.

Extract from the first letter of saint Paul Apostle to the Corinthians (NIV 1 Cor.12.1; 12.31-13.8a)
About the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.
Now eagerly desire the greater [ones]. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.
If I speak in the languages of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a
resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I
have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to the fames, but do not have
love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Voyant les foules, Jsus gravit la montagne. Il sassit, et ses disciples sap-
prochrent de lui.
Alors, ouvrant la bouche, il les enseignait. Il disait :
Vous tes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel devient fade, comment lui
rendre de la saveur ? Il ne vaut plus rien : on le jette dehors et il est piti-
n par les gens.
Vous tes la lumire du monde. Une ville situe sur une montagne ne
peut tre cache.
Et lon nallume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau ; on la met
sur le lampadaire, et elle brille pour tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
De mme, que votre lumire brille devant les hommes : alors, voyant ce
que vous faites de bien, ils rendront gloire votre Pre qui est aux cieux.

The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (NIV Matt. 5.1-2; 13-16)
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat
down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
He said:
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can
it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be
thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put
it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same
way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good
deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
