conducted at Department of Computer Science University of Pune only.
2. 50% seats of the overall sanctioned intake capacity are reserved for reserved category students
from the Maharashtra State.

Eligibility Criteria for Pune University MCA 2009:
For MCA Programs
• Any Science Graduate with Mathematics at 10+2 Level.
For MS.c Programs
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.
• The admissions are and will be done in accordance with the Ordinance No. 181 (Ordinance for
admissions of students to the Post-Graduate courses in the University Departments/ Institutions)
Pune University MCA Entrance Exam 2009 Application Form:
• For General Category Student: Rs. 575/-
• For Reserved Category Student (In Maharashtra): Rs. 475/-
• Please pay the Fees through the Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank that is to be drawn in
favour of 'The Registrar, University of Pune', payable at Pune.
Note: Reservation is applicable only for Maharashtra domicile SC, ST, DT/NT, OBC categories as per
Goverment of Maharashtra G.R. and 3% for PH. Non-creamy layer certificate is necessary for OBC,
DT/NT category candidates at the time of final admissions.

Pune University MCA Entrance Syllabus 2009:
Pune University MCA Entrance Exam consists of multiple choice (objective type) questions, and covers
the areas of Mathematics, general aptitude and English language.
Mathematics Syllabus:
• Set theory: Set operations, relations, functions.
• Propositional logic: Formulation, deduction, evaluation, puzzles.
• Linear Algebra: Solution of a system of linear equations. Determinant and inverse of a matrix,
basic properties of matrices.
• Co-ordinate Geometry and Conic Sections: Equations of lines and planes, vector products;
definitions and properties of conic sections.
• Trigonometry: Identities, computation of heights and lengths.
• Differential Calculus: Total and partial differentiation, limit of a function.
• Integral Calculus: Definite and indefinite integrals, solution of differential equations, computation
of areas and volumes.
• Series and sequences: sum, mean, convergence, limit.
• Real and complex numbers: surds, solution of equations on complex domain.
• Polynomials: solution of quadratic equations, properties of roots of polynomials with real
coefficients, binomial expansion, Taylor series.
• Permutations and Combinations.

MCA Entrance Exam Important Dates:

The candidates who are due to appear in their respective qualifying examination prescribed as eligibility
for admission to a particular programme before 14th August, 2008 may appear in the entrance
examination at their own risk and on the clear stipulation that in the event of their selection they will be
entitled to admission only if they have secured the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in their
qualifying examination and they submit all documents including final marks-sheets of qualifying
examination before the deadline fixed for registration.

ADMIT CARD FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION


Admit Card will be issued by the University only to those candidates who have submitted the Application
form complete in all respects on or before the last date for submission of Application Form
i. e. 16th March, 2009. The University will not be responsible for any Postal delay in receipt of Application
Form or non receipt of Application Forms due to any reason. The University will not be responsible for any
postal dalay resulting in non- receipt of Admit Card. The candidates may download their Admit Card from
the University's website: www.jnu.ac.in after 10th May, 2009 and take that Admit Card to the
Examination Centre with a copy of latest passport size Photograph.
Permission to appear in the entrance examination is subject to the candidate's fulfilling minimum eligibility
requirements prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study and as notified in the
Prospectus. The candidate may therefore appear in the entrance examination only if he/she fulfils the
eligibility requirements for the programme for which the admission is sought. Despite this caution, in case
any candidate who does not meet the minimum eligibility criteria prescribed for the concerned programme
and appears in the entrance examination shall do so at his/her own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is
found that the candidate does not fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements, the admission, if granted,
shall be cancelled ipso facto.
The University representative(s) shall be available at the Examination Centre before the commencement
of the examination and a candidate facing problem due to non-receipt of Admit Card or on some other
account is advised to get in touch with the University Representative or the Presiding Officer of the Centre
in order to avoid any last minute inconvenience. Only those candidates will be allowed to appear for
Entrance examination whose names appear in the Roll List available with the JNU Representative(s).
University assumes no responsibility whatsoever in the event of failure to report at the due date and time
by the candidate for appearing in the Entrance Examination.
