EMC Connectrix: connect as needed with
flexibility and reliability
The EMC Connectrix family lets you start small and scale as you grow--whether you
begin by implementing a small SAN for one department or a large SAN for an
enterprise-wide application. Connectrix enables you to concurrently support multiple
hosts and operating systems and also accommodates storage environments from other
suppliers. This extensible connectivity frees you to consolidate more information onto
fewer storage systemswith the assurance of seamless interoperability and common
fabric management capability across the network.
ENABLING A VIRTUAL DATA CENTER
Connectrix integrates high-speed Fibre Channel connectivity from 1 to 16 Gigabits per
second (Gb/s) with highly resilient switching features providing the bandwidth required
in todays cloud or virtualized environments. Connectrix products link enterprise
information at the hub of this virtual data centerensuring easy, quick, reliable, and
on-demand availability to all servers. In addition to Fibre Channel protocols, for ideal
flexibility, some Connectrix models support FICON, iSCSI, FCIP, and Fibre Channel over
Ethernet (FCoE).

Connectrix Switches
EMC offers a comprehensive line of Connectrix switches that are ready to meet any of
your configurations and connectivity needs. For optimal flexibility and easy scalability,
there are Connectrix switches that scale from 8 to 96 ports. For maximum investment
protection, all models support auto-sensing speeds for backwards compatibility.

anomalies. An automatic phone-home capability notifies EMCs Remote Support
Facility and activates appropriate product support services, including dispatch of
service personnel when necessary. Deploy directors in mission-critical
environments where you need high reliability, availability and scalability.

Connectrix extends EMC VMAX

and EMC VNX

channel connections and delivers
enterprise-class levels of availability and performance with a variety of features,
including:
An optional long wavelength port extends Fibre Channel cable distance on
some models to 30 kilometers (km). Third party CWDM optics and MUX
devices can extend the distance to 80 km and DWDM can extend those
distances beyond 100 km.
Inter-switch links (ISLs) connect up to 55 directors and/or switches to
form fabric of any-to-any device connectivity.
