PRIME EXPLOSIVES NONELECTRICALLY

CONDITIONS
Given a completed nonelectric detonating assembly (with and without a priming adapter),
explosives (with and without a threaded cap well), an M2 crimper, and string.
STANDARDS
The soldier must prime the explosive securely so that the blasting cap
. !ill remain in the cap well.

N"%& #$ a paper cap well cover is present, punch a hole in the cover with a crimper.
. %rime explosives with priming adapter.
a. #nspect cap well $or $oreign material. &isually loo' into the cap well. #$ any $oreign
matter is present, hold the bloc' with the open end down( bump gently with the hand,
holding it against the other wrist. #$ $oreign matter does not come out, do not prime the
bloc'.
b. #nsert cap into cap well.
c. )crew the adapter into the cap well.
2. %rime explosives without priming adapters (*igure ).
a. #nspect cap well $or $oreign material (same as a).
b. !rap a string tightly around the explosives and tie it securely, leaving about +
inches o$ loose string on each end a$ter ma'ing the tie.
c. #nsert a blasting cap with the $use attached into the cap well.
d. Tie the loose string around the fuse to prevent the blasting cap $rom being
separated $rom the bloc'.

EVALUATION PREPARATION
Setup: %rovide the soldier with the items in the conditions statement. The standard
explosives and inert items may be used.
Brief Soldier: Tell the soldier to prime various explosives with and without priming
adapters.
