Research Interest :

My primary research interest is in Cell Biology and Molecular Biology. The chief areas
of my research interest are cytoskeletal organization, cellular localization of proteins,
protein sorting mechanisms and cell-signalling pathways. I am currently working under
Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi at SRM University on the regulation of cytoskeletal organization in
Hemiascomycetes with a primary focus on septation as my M. Tech final year project.

To further nurture and enhance my research skills, particularly in the field of Cell and
Molecular Biology, I intend to pursue my PhD in a related field from a well-known
life sciences institution that shall enable me to successfully establish myself in the field of
life sciences research.

Currently pursuing M. Tech Biotechnology (2nd year) from SRM University, Chennai,
India. Current CGPA: 9.167

Aug 2009 onwards:

M.Tech Biotechnology final year project: Working under Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi on a

project concerning regulation of cytoskeletal organization in Hemiascomycetes with a
primary focus on septation at SRM University, India.

Oct 2007 – Mar 2008:

B.Tech Biotechnology final year project: Project titled “Synthesis, purification and
radiolabeling of oligonucleotides and its purity analysis by 5’ end labeling method”
under the guidance of Dr. N. Jayachandran at Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology
(BRIT), Navi Mumbai, India.

Completed diploma certificate training in Recombinant DNA Technology with A+

Technical Skills:

I have good hands-on experience in basic biochemistry, microbiology and molecular

biology techniques. In the course of my final year B. Tech project, I have acquired
technical skills in handling radioactive isotopes for labeling biomolecules. I am
accustomed to molecular biology techniques which include, gene cloning, PCR, protein
purification and analysis, DNA & RNA purification and analysis and basic
immunotechniques.
