Instructions:
After the completion of the CDP course, complete the following assignment and submit via Drop Box.
Assignment is due one week after the experience.

Consider 3 important take-away points that you gained during the two days experience. Provide a brief
paragraph for each of the 3 points and identify how you might utilize this information as an RN.
a. The first take away point was triage protocol. I can use this information as a RN to help me set priorities
in the hospital setting. During CDP, I learned that pulse, mental status, and respirations are the first thing
to assess when deciding who need medical attention first. If the pulse, reparations and mental status are
fine then that person can be tagged as green or yellow, which means they have minor injuries that can
wait.
b. The second take away point I gained from CDP was being aware of my surroundings. I learned how to
survey for things that look out of place or unfamiliar. I always learned to be cautious of people who are
wearing bagging clothing that are out of season. This can help me as an RN by keeping my patients safe if
an attack occurs in the hospital.
c. The last but most important take away point is having knowledge of the signs and symptoms of a
person infected with different biological agents. This can help me as an RN by aiding to easily identifying
people who have been infected with a deadly agent. I also learned how to decontaminate which can help
me as an RN if my hospital has a biological attack.

2. Reflect on the CDP experience as a whole and discuss your thoughts about the value of the experience.
Would you recommend that this activity be continued? Please provide other helpful feedback about the
experience.

I really enjoyed CDP. I learned some very valuable information that I believe will help me be a better employee.
CDP taught me many things I can use in my career as a nurse. I feel fully prepared to step in and help with
decontamination or triage if I were involved in an attack. I would recommend that this activity be continued. It was
fun, interactive and hands on. I learned in a very good environment and I do believe this will help me a new
graduate RN.
