WELCOME TO PEACE WITH CHRIST

LUTHERAN CHURCH!

We give thanks to God that you are joining us today!

Many of our guests are seeking a home church where they
can be part of the Fellowship of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace with Christ is a congregation that is a family not an
“organization”. We are small enough to allow people to
know each other by name, and yet large enough to offer
opportunities for growth and service. What we “specialize”
in is not programs or productions, but simply The Gospel
of Our Lord Jesus. Christ, His Word, and the Cross are
what provide the foundation for faith and ministry. If you
are interested in learning more about Peace With Christ
Lutheran Church, please call the church office at 226-4721.
Pastor Patrick would welcome the opportunity to visit with
you personally.
2
THE TIME before the service may be used for prayer and preparation.
Read through the worship bulletin and familiarize yourself with the service.
A few moments spent this way will help make the service more meaningful.

NEXT WEEK’S LUTHERAN HOUR MESSAGE:

“Nobody Tells Me What To Do!” Guest Speaker: Rev.
Dr. Ken Klaus. Half-hearted repentance is not really
repentance at all. Jesus didn’t come into this world to
live, suffer, die, and rise for those who think they are
doing just fine on their own. (Luke 3:1-14)
(Mark 13:13) Listen to The Lutheran Hour Message on KOA,
Denver (AM850) at 6:00 a.m. and KFKA, Greeley (AM1310) at 9:30
a.m.

Peace With Christ Radio Broadcast: KCOL (600AM), at 9:00 AM

Sundays. **Please note that the radio broadcast will not be aired on
the following dates due to Bronco football: December 6, 13 & 27.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF CONCORD

FORMULA OF CONCORD, SOLID DECLARATION
ARTICLE VII: THE HOLY SUPPER
FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT

[Dr. Luther] foresaw in the Spirit that after his death some
would try to make it seem that he had backed away from the
doctrine [of the true presence of Christ's body and blood in the
Holy Supper] and other Christian articles. Therefore, he has
added the following protest to his Confession concerning
Christ's Supper:

I desire with this treatise to confess my faith before God and

all the world, point by point. I am determined to abide by it
until my death and (so help me God!) in this faith to depart
from this world and to appear before the judgment seat of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Hence if any one shall say after my death,
"If Luther were living now, he would teach and hold this or
that article differently, let me say once and for all that by the
grace of God I have most diligently traced all these articles
through the Scriptures, have examined them again and again
in the light thereof, and have wanted to defend all of them as
certainly as I have now defended the sacrament of the altar. I
am not drunk or irresponsible. I know what I am saying, and I
well realize what this will mean for me before the Last Judg-
ment at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am in dead ear-
nest, since by the grace of God I have learned to know a great
deal about Satan. If he can twist and pervert the Word of God
and the Scriptures, what will he not be able to do with my or
someone else's words? (paragraphs 28-31)

Prayer and Study

Date: November 29 - December 5

Luther Quote: “It is true, we should believe when we are bap-

tized; but we should not let ourselves be baptized in reliance on
this faith. To have faith and to rely on this faith and thus to be
baptized in dependence on it are matters that are very different
indeed.”

Bible readings for the week:

Sunday: Psalm 149–150; Matthew 25-26

Monday: Exodus 15:1-18; Matthew 27-28
Tuesday: Luke 1:46-55; Revelation 1-2
Wednesday: Psalm 1; Revelation 3-5
Thursday: Psalm 2; Revelation 6-8
Friday: Psalm 3; Revelation 9-11
Saturday: Psalm 4; Revelation 12-14

Urban mission work in the United States - Nov. 18-30

With the third-largest population in the world, and the world
coming to its cities, the United States is indeed a vast mission
field. These missionaries work in some of the urban centers of
the United States to coordinate mission work and train future
leaders.

Daily Prayers:

Sunday: For the work of Lutheran Intercity Network Coalition

(LINC), a ministry that operates in Houston, Texas, Dallas, Texas, New
Orleans, La., and Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. Congregations that are
members of LINC networks have joined together in a common mission
to impact these cities with the love of Christ.
11
Monday: For Lutheran City Ministries, Inc., which reaches out spe-
cifically to “hearts and souls” living in urban areas. Lift up Rev. Steven
Essenburg as he directs this ministry, which is based out of Detroit,
Mich. That the LCMS as a whole would become known as a beacon of
Gospel witness in the abandoned and neglected areas of U.S. cities—
and that the Lord would call more LCMS members and congregations
into urban ministry.

Taiwan – Dec. 1-15

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod began work in Taiwan in
1951. The China Evangelical Lutheran Church Taiwan (CELC)
became an LCMS partner church in 1966.

Tuesday: For GEO missionaries Ray and Emilie Dubert, Matthew

Fick, Kevin Foley, and Heidi Greimann, who serve in Taiwan. Ask the
Lord to bless their service and the relationships they build with their
students and students’ families.

Wednesday: For GEO missionaries Rebekah House, Anna Meyer,

Ben and Amy Riley, and Stephanie Roegner, who also serve God in
Taiwan. Ask the Lord to sustain them in their service and that the Holy
Spirit would give them joy in all they do.

Thursday: For GEO missionaries Andrew and Noel Schaff, Petrea

Schwahn, Michael Vogel, and Mark Wolfram, as they serve in Taiwan.
Ask God to use them as His instruments in their classrooms, Bible stud-
ies, and other activities.

Friday: For LCMS missionaries Matt and Dee Wasmund, and their
daughters, Lily and Olivia, as they guide and disciple GEO missionaries
that serve in Taiwan and Japan and explore ways to expand the work of
LCMS World Mission in these countries.

Saturday: For the ministry at Concordia Middle School (CMS) in

Chiayi, Taiwan. LCMS GEO missionaries teach English and religion
classes there, which provide many opportunities to reach middle and
high school students with the Gospel.
