TASK-1
Unit-2 business resources.
As-1
Introduction
Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function within an organization that
focuses on recruitment of, management and providing direction for the people who
work in the organization.
Managing a human resource department entails more than simply hiring and firing
employees. The human resource department is essential in cultivating
organizational development, working with business to provide services inclusive of
training staff, explaining and ensuring employment laws are followed, developing
policies and job descriptions, strategic planning, performance management,
recruitment and keeping the workplace environment safe.
Steps for managing Human Resource:
Put together a solid resource: One function of the human resource (HR) department
is to hire good for all departments. Be sure the HR department is staffed well.
- Hire as many team members as departmental budget will permit. The
number of employees HR department needs will depend on the size of the
company anyone working for, and the functions their department is expected
to perform.
- Hire specialists for each function, such as a benefits Administrator, trainer
and Recruit. Or, if anyone has fewer employees, hire Generalists who can
manage multiple functions.
Communicate with team about their expectations- Make sure all the members
of the HR department understand their responsibilities.
Communicate individual responsibilities to the entire company- HR
department will run more efficiently if the company employees know which team
member to contact for payroll questions, benefits enrolment, etc.
Insist upon confidentiality- The HR department has access to a lot of personal
information. The department also handles sensitive issues such as harassment
complaints and labour disputes. Discretion is essential.
Maintain an open door policy for management and staff: The companys
workers as well as its leaders should feel comfortable coming to HR for assistance.
2

Be sure to cross train the members of the HR team- This will help cover
vacations, sick days and other time off. No one have to wait for help if one of
employees is absent. Allow departments team members to train each other. This
will ensure everyone understands the basics of each persons job.
Promote professional growth on team: Allow HR staffs to take seminars,
classes and attend meetings that will further their knowledge of the HR field.
- Suggest opportunities if there are areas of weakness on team. For example,
if attracting talent is something no one specializes in, look classes or
publications and recommend them to team.
- Keep updated on the developments and best practices in the HR field. Join
professional organizations such as the society for Human Resource
Management (HRM), sign up to receive new letters and network with the HR
managers.
Set a good example- Maintaining a professional and positive demeanor will help
department do the same. The attitude will then spill over into the entire company.
Be sure all company policies and procedures are followed within your
department- Complete reviews on time, keep your budget on track and report to
management as required.
HRM is moving away from traditional personnel, administration, and transactional
roles, which are increasingly outsourced. HRM is now expected to add value to the
strategic utilization of employees and that employees programs impact the
business in measurable ways. The new role of HRM involves strategic direction and
HRM metrics and measurements to demonstrate value.

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) is Bangladesh's most innovative and
technologically advanced bank. DBBL stands to give the most innovative and
affordable banking products to Bangladesh. Amongst banks, DBBL is the largest
donor in to social causes in Bangladesh. It stands as one of the largest private
donors involved in improving the country. DBBL is proud to be associated with
helping Bangladesh as well as being a leader in the country's banking sector.

Dutch-Bangla Bank started operation is Bangladesh's first joint venture bank. The
bank was an effort by local shareholders spearheaded by M Sahabuddin Ahmed
(founder chairman) and the Dutch company FMO.

From the onset, the focus of the bank has been financing high-growth
manufacturing industries in Bangladesh. The rationale being that the manufacturing
sector exports Bangladeshi products worldwide. Thereby financing and
concentrating on this sector allows Bangladesh to achieve the desired growth.
DBBL's other focus is Corporate Social Responsiblity (CSR). Even though CSR is
now a cliche, DBBL is the pioneer in this sector and termed the contribution simply
as 'social responsiblity'. Due to its investment in this sector, DBBL has become one
of the largest donors and the largest bank donor in Bangladesh. The bank has won
numerous international awards because of its unique approach as a socially
conscious bank.

DBBL was the first bank in Bangladesh to be fully automated. The Electronic-
Banking Division was established in 2002 to undertake rapid automation and bring
modern banking services into this field. Full automation was completed in 2003 and
hereby introduced plastic money to the Bangladeshi masses. DBBL also operates
the nation's largest ATM fleet and in the process drastically cut consumer costs and
fees by 80%. Moreover, DBBL choosing the low profitability route for this sector has
surprised many critics. DBBL had pursued the mass automation in Banking as a
CSR activity and never intended profitability from this sector. As a result it now
provides unrivaled banking technology offerings to all its customers. Because of this
mindset, most local banks have joined DBBL's banking infrastructure instead of
pursuing their own.

Even with a history of hefty technological investments and even larger donations,
consumer and investor confidence has never waned. Dutch-Bangla Bank stock set
the record for the highest share price in the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 2008.
