1 PURPOSE
Purpose of this method statement is to outline the se2uences and methods of
3orks intended to (e used for the e#cavation of trench for laing underground 33

!he *ontractor has the right to adapt the methods of e#ecution as contained in this
document from time to time and modif as necessar according to specific site
conditions.

4 METHOD STATEMENT
4.1 SURVEY
4.1.1 7(tain route approval as re2uired8 prior to start of 3ork.
4.1.2 *onduct Site surve8 esta(lish ca(le route8 and demarcate the trench at
Site.
4.2 TRIAL PITS (EXPLORATORY EXCAVATION)
4.2.1 7(tain 3ork permit0?7* from various authorities 5 @>s .uilt@ dra3ings
sho3ing all e#isting services.
4.2.2 Set up site8 marked areas to (e e#plored at 111 meters interval or as ma
(e re2uired and also near the e#isting identified services8 and fi# 3ith
3arning tape 0 safet cones.
4.2.4 Intimate "tisalat0 &efense0 the concerned departments prior to e#posing
their related services
4.2.' Start manual digging using pick:a#e 3ithout sharp edges and hand
shovel.
4.2.) Aook in for an 3arning signs 0 3arning tape 0 ca(le tiles that might prop
up during e#cavation and take necessar precautions 3hile digging.

4.4 TRENCH EXCAVATION
4.4.1 Set out and mark the e#act line of ca(le route as per approved dra3ings
and the o(tain ?7*0 Permission to Work.
4.4.2 "#cavation is carried out using a mechanical e#cavator. In areas 3here
usage of e#cavator is unsafe 0 not possi(le8 the trench is made through
manual digging.

the rollers shall (e maintained and 3ell fi#ed. >ppropriate corner rollers

corners8 through road crossings and through e#isting ducts.

!he .ackfilling material should have a ma#imum thermal resistivit of 121
cm2 *0W under operational conditions 5 shall (e chemicall neutral as

Special (edding material shall (e used as per re2uirement of clause
no.4.2.+ of >&W"> standards S:*>.:I?S!:DE8 3here the thermal

of ca(le route markers to keep the continuit 5 progress of the 3ork.
4.-.2 Installed ca(les shall (e covered 3ith selected fine sand upto the level of
3arning tape as re2uired in >&W"> dra3ing no. >&W"> 11 11 1+.
!he protection tiles for 33 F4 ca(le trench shall (e '11 mm length8 2'1
mm 3idth 5 concrete grade is *3' 3ith cement tpe 4 <SR*=8 min
cement content 3+1 kg0m38 all edges to (e chamfered 5 name to (e fi#ed
on each protection tile as per the specification.
Protection tiles for M4 5 A4 ca(les shall (e '11 mm length8 211 mm 3idth

installed on top of 9ointing to mark the location of the 9oint. >ll ca(le route
