1. Primary Colors there are three basic colors+ red, ,ello- and blue.
2. Secondary Colors produced by mixing eual uantities of two primaries.

yellow ! blue " green
#. $ntermediate Colors a mixture of primary and secondary colors%
yellow ! orange " ,ello- orange blue ! violet " blue violet
yellow ! green " ,ello- green red + violet " red violet

1. Contrasted Harmony single color mixed with neutrals (blac), gray,
white*.

2. Monochromatic Harmony this consists of varying tints, shade and
intensities of one color. -he result is a contrast in light and dar) values
and differences in intensities.
#. Harmony of Adjacent or Analogous Colors (lie side by side* colors that
are ad.acent to each other on the color wheel% they have one common
color and therefore, can be easily combined.
+xample, blue / blue green green / yellow green
&. Harmony of Complementary these are opposites. 0 combination of the
two at full intensities would produce an unpleasant effect% hence, it is
necessary to neutrali1e one of them.

1. 0ll drawing must be started with carefully wor)ed out lay/out. 2se the tip
of the stic) to do the lay/out.
2. -he first stro)es are made straight after doing the general lay/out. 3old
the pastel flat between the fingers (it should be under your hand or
underhand*.
#. Start to wor) with bac)ground.
&. Pastels can ma)e stro)es li)e any other dry drawing method. $f you press
softly you will not cover the pores of the paper. 3owever, if the movement
is forceful and insistent, any area of the drawing can be completely
dar)ened.
4. 2sing pastel can give a great variety of effects, depending on the stro)es,
in some areas the pores of the paper will be completely covered by the
pastel, and other areas the stro)e will be adapted to the design of the
form.
5. -o dar)en the shaded area, another pastel addition is made.
6. -o complete the exercise, all that remains to be done are some final
stro)es in the lower part of the composition using the tip of the stic). -his
techniues can be very useful in any of the drawing you made.

1. HUE refers to the color itself. $t can never be changed even if the color is
made lighter or dar)er. 7ellow will always be yellow, blue is blue and red is
red.

2. VAUE refers to the lightness and dar)ness of a color. 0 color can be
made lighter or dar)er in value when white or blac) is added to it.
