WinPIC800 Programmer User Guide



WinPIC800 is a PIC microcontroller Programming software for Windows XP only.
If your current OS is not Windows XP, you might have to make your system dual-boot with WinXP and your preferred OS.

1. To Download:
Click here to download WinPI C800.zip file,
Extract the zip file to your desired directory (e.g. D:\program) and you should see the following in the
automatically created \WinPI C800 folder:
(1) WinPic800.exe
(2) winXP Driver folder
(3) Languages folder and few support files.


2. To Install the Hardware:
Connect the Programmer board to the computer via an USB cable.
"Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear.
On "Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?", select "No, not this time" and click
Next.
On "This wizard helps you install software for: GRABADOR TODOPIC-USB summer 2005", select "Install
from a list or specify location (Advanced)" and click Next.
On "Please choose your search and installation options", uncheck "Search removable media (floppy, CD-
ROM..) and check only "Include this location in the search:" Browse and select the winXP Driver folder that
you have just downloaded.
On warning that "The software you are installing for this hardware: GTP-USB summer 2005 #0 has not
passed Windows Logo testing ...", click Continue Anyway.
Wait for 3 to 5 minutes on seeing "Please wait while the wizard installs GTP-USB summer 2005 #0".
Click Finish when the wizard has finished installing the software, to complete the installation of this
hardware on this computer.


3. To Setup WinPIC800:
While the Programmer board is still connected, run WinPic800.exe from the \WinPI C800 folder.
Click OK when the message "WinPic800: No se encontro el Archivo del idioma" appears.
In WinPic800 - 3.55b, change the language to English at Idioma on the toolbar.
It is advisable to do a Device-Hardware Test and Device-Detect PIC at the beginning of every
WinPic800 session (or every time you change a board or PIC) to make sure both your board and PIC are
working fine with WinPic800.
You should see "Hardware Ok. v-3.55" in the Hardware Test result if the Programmer board is working.
Click Accept.
You should see "PIC detected -> 16F877" (or the PIC chip that you are using) if the PIC is working.
Click Accept.
You may use the default settings for both the Hardware as well as Software Settings.

4. To Program a PIC:
Click File-Open to open the program Hex file.
If you want to program a PIC16F877, click on the Setting tab and ensure the following:
Under -osc-, select HS.
Under -cp-, select Off.
Uncheck the rest, such that value of 0x2007= 3D3A.
Or, if you want to program a PIC16F877A, click on the Setting tab and ensure the following:
Under -osc-, select HS.
Under -cp-, select 0000h-0FFFh.
Uncheck the rest, such that value of 0x2007= 393A.


Click Device-Program All to program the PIC.
If everything is successful, a programming summary appears at the end of the 100% progress.
You may now remove the PIC chip from the ZIF socket and place it in your development board for testing.
