the overwhelming feeling of love in two sources: "twice-at-once" sounds impossible!
o Although similar, love is thought not to be like pain which has definite
locations; it is thought that it can move around, although usually it will reside in the
lower stomach or the bottom of the throat, with sensitive areas like the temples and
the legs and joints feeling stressed and weak. The mouth is often dry and the eyes
seem strained, and this is all usually given the diagnosis of love sickness, or in some
cases where love isn't present, influenza.

3. Endure for a time. Time does seem to be the only healer in the case of lost love.
The full connection of two loving parties (mutually) could lead to a stronger relationship,
and developments such as procreation and marriage; but in the case of a single party or
the rejection of the first party by the second, or even in the case of a secret love, being in
love will usually only fade after the interest is out of sight and out of mind, or gives full
closure to the pursuer.
4. Love forever (especially in literature)--it is forever. No matter how much time passes
by, or what obstacles become present in the path of true and pure love, love will endure.
This may be far fetched from reality, but many find it to be a preferable way to think.
o Although this may be a much more joyous belief to have of love, there are
also those situations where love does fail. This can be easily said to have been due to
false love of mistaken identity between persons (as lovers are star crossed and are
meant to find each other). Either way, the difference between feeling love and not
feeling it is a distinct one, and cannot be mistaken. It is a true sickness that is present
and can be more crippling than the flu, depression and many other illnesses
combined.

o Love can cause war; in the cases of love of religion and the love of money;
war can cause people to steal and murder, it can lead to suicide and shatter marriage
and family life, it can spread disease and give birth to evil; but love is eternal and
cannot be eliminated, it is what makes people human. "I think therefore I am" may also
be translated as "I love therefore I am".

5. Allow yourself to think so you may choose why, where and when to find your
life partner not just for simple breeding or survival of the fittest, but in order for
developing and choosing as human beings not just feeling beings.
6. Share your love and spread it on through new generations, so while love lasts
eternally, your mark upon humanity is also forever through your children and children's
children; you make your mark by your genetic codes, understandings and teachings
continuing--passed on and developed forevermore!
o This eternal possibility is a gift, not just dedication; you have to choose as
we were born with conscientiousness, not like animals who only have instinct.

which is joy and contentment.

and friendship but very little commitment? This is defined as "passionate love." Are you

Love is one of the most confusing and wonderful parts of life. There is perhaps no subject about
which so many stories, songs and poems have been written. Speculation about it is always an
area of fascination, particularly for women.

But what is love and do we really need it? It's common to hear people say they're happy to be
alone and can live without it.

If you have an interest in this subject, the experiments of famed American psychologist Harry
Harlow from the 1950s onwards are worth hearing about. He arguably did more to expand our
understanding of the psychological underpinnings of love than anyone before him.

Before I continue, readers should be aware that the experiments I'm going to talk about involve
animals - specifically monkeys. Some of these can be viewed as disturbing and cruel, and if you
don't wish to hear about such things, now's the time to stop reading and explore elsewhere on the
site.

Let me say up-front, that I find some of these experiments uncomfortable to hear about also. But
the results are so fascinating that they're difficult to ignore. There could be an interesting ethical
debate on this point about whether the ends justify the means, but that's a subject for another
article.

Dr Harlow conducted his experiments on love using infant macaque monkeys, because of the
similarity of behavior they display with human children.

"The macaque infant differs from the human infant in that the monkey is more mature at birth and
grows more rapidly," Harlow said in a paper on the subject, "but the basic responses relating to
affection, including nursing, contact, clinging, and even visual and auditory exploration, exhibit no
fundamental differences in the two species. Even the development of perception, fear, frustration,
and learning capability follows very similar sequences in rhesus monkeys and human children."

Harlow's interest was mainly in how love developed between mother and child, and the effects of
that relationship on later responses to affection. He first got the idea for his experiments when he
noticed that baby monkeys separated from their mothers developed emotional attachments to
gauze cloths used to keep their cages clean. When the cloths were removed, the monkeys would
often throw temper tantrums until they were returned. Harlow speculated that the cloths might be
being used as surrogate mothers.

To test his theory, he created two fake mothers for his baby monkeys - one made of wire and one
made of cloth and warmed from within by a light bulb. Both "mothers" were given a face, and a
"breast" in the form of a bottle from which the babies could feed. Both fulfilled all the biological
needs of their "children", feeding them and so forth, but only the cloth mother was made with
comfort in mind. The monkeys showed very little interest in the wire mothers, but developed
strong attachments to the cloth mothers - clinging to them tightly and becoming distressed when
they were removed.

Even if two mothers were provided - a wire one with milk and a cloth one without - the monkeys
would prefer the latter. The conclusion was that comfort was much more important to the babies
than other variables such as feeding.

If Harlow separated baby monkeys from their new cloth mothers, even for long periods, the
importance of the relationship was never forgotten. As soon as their surrogate mother was
returned, the monkeys would immediately rush to cling desperately to her.

The babies given cloth mothers also grew to be more psychologically stable than those who had
only wire mothers. This was demonstrated when they were put into dangerous and strange
situations, such as having noisy toy-robots put into the cages with them. Those with cloth mothers
to cling to during the ordeal showed a much greater level of bravery, and much less negative
emotion, than those who had no surrogate comfort mother present. The level of psychological
security given by these immobile mother figures was found to be very high.

Monkeys who had been raised alone, with no such cloth surrogate, showed no emotional
response when one was initially introduced to their cages. Although in time, they could also be
shown to develop a strong attachment.

In observation, the level of affection displayed in babies raised by a surrogate mother was very
similar to that between a real mother and baby. Both types grew to be more psychologically and
physically healthy than those who were denied any type of mother, even though all biological
needs were taken care of in all the subjects.

At this point, Harlow's experiments grew darker. He began to design surrogate mothers that he
called "Iron Maidens". These were mothers with all the comfortable features of the cloth mothers,
but who also had the ability to turn evil. Without warning, they would prod their babies with metal
spikes or blow cold air against them so hard that they were pushed against the side of the cage.

Despite the cruelty of his "Iron Maidens", Harlow noticed something interesting. No matter how
abusive the evil mothers were, the baby monkeys always came back and displayed affection
towards them.

Even in the face of abuse, the need for love was overwhelming. It seemed anything was
preferable to being without it.

Another interesting result came from these "tough-love" experiments. The worse the mothers
abused their "children", the more needy those children became. This showed the myth that you
can toughen people up against love by denying it to them is wrong. We need it, and removing it
will just damage us, not make us stronger.

Harlow's experiments, while sometimes dark, tell us a basic truth about ourselves. We are not just
robots engaged in a mindless search for fulfilling our biological requirements. Instead, love is at
the very center of our being. In fact, it can be shown to be more important to us than even our
more basic physical needs.

Harlow's means were definitely disturbing, but his results tell us something beautiful about what it
means to be alive.

The Computer Geek

How To Recognise Him: You probably know the type I'm talking about. He's very clever,
probably in all the top sets. His main things are his computer, his gameboy, his
playstation...you understand. That is his life. I do not wish to stereotype, but he will probably
either have really nasty hair or he will put so much gel on it that it will resemble a pan of chip
fat. He can be quite good-looking but doesn't really take much time on his appearance. He
hangs around with other computer geeks and the chances are you won't be able to stand them.
He can be outwardly funny and goofy but inside lurks a shy, sensitive little creature.

Where You'll Find Him: Primarily, anywhere there is a computer. He may be in the library. Or,
he will be hanging out with his friends in the usual computer geeks' hideout...your job is to find
wherever your school's one is.

He Likes: His computer and playstation/gameboy, obviously. He likes having a laugh, but you
may find his sense of humour weird...whatever turns you on! He also likes girls, though it may
not seem that obvious.

He Dislikes: Losing a computer game, Other boys who are not on 'his level', and 'normality'.

How To Get Him: If your usual flirting style is very outrageous, please don't try it on him.
Chances are he's very shy, or failing that, just not interested. However, you will need to be
obvious, because he may be clever but he's very dim when it comes to stuff like that. So
Obvious, but NOT outrageous. If you know anything about computers or games or whatever,
that'll impress him as a conversation starting point, but if not, please don't embarass yourself.

The Busy Hands Boy

How to recognise him: He's always chasing, following, or touching/hugging/putting his arm
around some girl, and it's always a different one. The kind of boy you'd usually take a ten mile
hike to avoid (well, that's me, not sure about you). Unfortunately, he's usually drop dead
gorgeous and therefore very difficult to resist. He'll have gelled, spiky hair and a cheeky, flirty
smile. He'll also have a looooooooooooong history of ex-girlfriends.

Where You'll find him: Either with his mates talking (in a very degrading manner, obviously)
ABOUT girls, or with a girl trying to butter her up. He's probably very popular, with a large
group of friends, so chances are you'll know his territory anyway.

He Likes: Jordan, Britney, J.Lo, Beyonce.....Girls in general

He Dislikes: Girls kicking him where the sun don't shine. (When you're this kind of boy, it does
happen on a regular basis)

How To Get Him: Basically, to get this boy, you have to play hard to get. He loves the
challenge of the chase and if you give in to him straight away, the chances are he'll get bored
with you. If he hasn't noticed you, flirt very outrageously with him so that he DOES notice you.
Once you've got him eating out the palm of your hand, suddenly cool off. It'll leave him
determined to get you, and once he does, he'll be much keener to hang on to you for as long as
possible. It will also keep his hands away from any OTHER girl who dares to cross his path.

The Untouchable Boy

How To Recognise him: This one's not hard to recognise. He doesn't need to be fantastically
good-looking (though this is often the case) but there's always SOME little thing about him that
gets the girls flocking to him like sheep.Something you can't quite put your finger on. Loads of
girls fancy the pants off him, but he is simply very, very, very picky. He doesn't want any of
them. He'll have a haughty air, and probably a dry or cynical sense of humour. He's popular
amongst his friends as the joker of the group.

Where You'll Find Him: In the middle of his group of friends, making them all laugh, or
blowing off some poor girl.

He likes: Well, not many of the girls that like HIM, that's for sure. He likes his friends, and his
playstation.

He Dislikes: See above sentence about girls. He also hates being got the better of.

How To Get Him: Similar strategy to busy-hands boy, but more subtle. First off, you HAVE to
start an argument with him. A fun-one, obviously, not a serious one, or he'll never look at you
again. That way, you'll always have a conversation-base and something to tease him with. And
when this boy starts teasing you, you know you're on to a good thing. When he teases, you flirt
and tease him back. Smile at him a lot...he likes that.

Types Of Boys
All boys are unique, some boys are more unique than others...

important to not only understand these generalized types of boys, but to understand the
individual boys in your charge.

While the types listed below may be helpful to you in reaching and motivating some of
the boys, most real life boys will fall between these types, having characteristics of several
different types. Your job, as a Scout leader, is to get to know your boys, find out what makes
them tick, and then find a way to focus their energy on the patrol and troop. It's not always an
easy job, but you aren't alone in your work.
The Natural Born Leader
This type of boy naturally knows how to lead a group. Often, he'll be the natural choice
of the Patrol as Patrol Leader. He has the raw talent, but sometimes lacks the experience and
practice. For that reason, the Natural Born Leader isn't always seen as such. For the members
of the patrol, he'll just be the guy they knowwill do a good job. His natural talents, though,
need to be honed through training and practice.

The Smooth Running Boy

This type of boy takes things pretty much as they come. He's agreeable and easily led.
He may or may not have initiative or ambition. He's equally at home in the sunshine, and the
rain and nothing seems to get him down. In most things, he won't put forth a great deal of
effort, but he won't shirk his responsibilities either.

The Passive Boy

This type of boy has no initiative at all. He has to be told to do everything. He will
follow where his is led, but has to be led everywhere. Unlike the Smooth Running Boy, the
Passive Boy won't put forth any effort without a little prodding. Unlike the Lazy Boy, he
doesn't look for ways to get out of doing things.

The Clever Boy

His natural talent is to analyze everything. He's adept at discovering mistakes and
weaknesses. He has the added talent of knowing how things work or should be done. He's a
good choice for Assistant Patrol Leader because you definitely want him on your side. Left to
his own devices, he'll point out the faults and mistakes the Patrol Leader makes, and will often
comment "I would have done it better." For that reason, you want him right by your side,
keeping you on your toes, and not sowing discontent within the patrol.

The Lazy Boy

Like the passive boy, the lazy boy has no initiative. Unlike the passive boy, who will
complete tasks and work hard if asked to do so, the lazy boy simply prefers not to do
anything. He lacks the energy and motivation of even the passive boy. He'll tend to complain
about anything that requires energy, or takes him away from his preferred activity (whatever
that is). You'll have to keep an eye on him because he's prone to taking short-cuts and doesn't
put much thought into the short-cut he takes.

The Troublemaker
This type of boy naturally attracts trouble like a magnet. At times, he doesn't even have
to work at it. Sometimes, however, he works very hard at it. He can really take the life out of
any activity or meeting, and will certainly test your ability to control the group. It doesn't
matter why the Troublemaker attracts (or makes) trouble. The easiest way to handle him is to
keep him busy.

The Grouchy Boy

 Nothing satisfies this type of boy. He can never find anything good about anything; the
weather, the food, the activity. He can find ten reasons not to do something for every
reason to do it. He's like a wet blanket on campouts and hikes, dragging everyone's spirits
down.

The Wise-Guy
Like the Clever Boy, the Wise-Guy is particularly adept at discovering mistakes and
weaknesses. Unlike the Clever Boy, who tends to figure out how to fix it before speaking up,
the Wise-Guy leaps before he looks. He can be a real asset if you can get him to stop and
think before he does or says anything.

The Bully
Part Wise-Guy, part Troublemaker, part Grouch, the Bully delights in dominating
everything. He brags about his abilities, and uses intimidation to get his way. Any boy is
capable of challenging the Patrol Leader's authority from time to time, but the Bully will seize
every opportunity to do so, and he'll do whatever it takes to be the boss. The good thing is
that most Bullies don't like it when people stand up to them, so the best way to handle a Bully
is to not let him win.

Angry girl

-she is the type of the girl which sees life like a battle

-anything what is happening or is told to her is seen as a insult at her address
