Congratulations to Officer Kristina
Kohlmeyer who successfully completed her
FTO program for the Cloquet Police
Department this week. This three-month,
three-phase program is designed to give the
newly hired officer the tools and information
necessary to perform their duties as a police
officer for the City of Cloquet. Kristina will
now be moved to a regular shift within our
Patrol Division.

This week detectives and patrol staff
investigated a burglary at the Northwoods
Credit Union Arena. Shortly after midnight
on July 5, 2014 and unidentified male forced
his way into the Northwoods Credit Union
Arena. While inside, the suspect broke into
an ATM machine and left with an
undisclosed amount of cash. Surveillance
footage captured photos of the unidentified
male. As Cloquet detectives worked the
investigation, they posted suspect photos
and information online on our social media
sites. It wasn't long and the department
started receiving tips from our law
enforcement partners and the public,
ultimately resulting in the arrest of a 32-
year-old Grand Rapids, MN man who was
formally charged with Burglary in the
Second Degree, Felony Theft, Criminal
Damage to Property and Possession of
Burglary/Theft Tools. The suspect is
currently being held at the Carlton County
Law Enforcement Center.

Staff reports, from a public safety
perspective, the Fourth of July
celebrations and events throughout the
community went very well with no
major issues.

The Department filed for the 2014
reimbursement of continuing education
expenses for police officers. This is an
annual requirement submitted to the
Minnesota Post Board for
reimbursement of training monies. The
time period for this reimbursement is
July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.

On Monday Detective Darrin Berg
gave a presentation to school-age
children at the Barnum Elementary
School. Darrin was requested to give
this presentation for his expertise in
the collection of fingerprints and other
evidence collection methods.
