Thesis: Many dystopian novels deal with the issues arising from the Government and the condition it

creates for society and individuals, and A Clockwork Orange is one of such novels. This novel is a perfect
example of an oppressive governing system which creates unbearable conditions in society and
oppresses individuality in people of that society, thus showing the condition of postmodern society.
The Approach: The approach which is most suitable for analyzing the novel is the sociological criticism
examining the political system and its consequences in the context of postmodern period. Morover, the
novel will be dealt with from the philosophical perspective as one of the main themes, as stated by the
author is the concept of free will.
Tentative Organization: The paper will have three major parts, the first one dealing with the
Government, the second one with the condition of the society, and the third one with the individuality.
